@99deathadder Well it's true we never want to kill. But in the case of those worshiping false gods, God had those people cut off from His people. In fact this is not the only time he has done this, think of Sodom and Gomorrah, the Flood, Babylon the Great. God's whole purpose is to keep His people clean of badness, and He saw no ray of goodness or even potential good in their heart's so he destroyed them. But that's no reason to be afraid. God loves and protects the innocent, meek and righteous.

These are deep bible questions, not just ANYONE off the street could come even CLOSE to getting right enough to get baptized. If you open your door, you can find out for yourself what they're talking about, and if you still don't like it, you can ask them to add you to their do not call list. But at least find out what it is from the horse's mouth and make an informed decision before you set your prejudice.

The Governing Body does not require a set amount of hours... it is not a robotic-like atmosphere. We do it because we LOVE Jehovah and want his good news of the kingdom spread. Like the beggar lady in the bible who could only put in the smallest value of money there was, but to God that was just as much as the surplus of money coming from other people. So we don't do it to report our time, that's ridiculous. The goal is not that at all, if you believe that's the goal then your lost.

Or call them up (phone number from the White Pages, closest Kingdom Hall), or even just write them a letter, addressed to "Elder Body". I personally love to debate but to each his own.

Let me clarify, most JW's are nice decent people, doing what they feel is right; they mean well. Granted there's a few bad apples. I can't say the same for the WT Society, who deludes it's flock. Any person can take classes on New Testament Greek or do self-study in this area with the help of books and language dictionaries. However, I would not presume to be qualified to serve on a Bible translation committee. Mr. Franz seemed to lack the fluidity he claimed.

I have a very limited knowledge of New Testament Greek attained through private study (no formal training).
However, former members of the Society revealed the identities of the translation committee members as Frederick W. Franz, Nathan H. Knorr, George D. Gangas, Albert D. Schroeder, Milton G. Henschel, and Karl Klein. A review of their qualifications is disturbing:
The Watchtower was always quite secretive about the composition of their translation committee, claiming that credit should be given to God and the truth, rather than the translators. In the October 22, 1989 issue of Awake!, the Watchtower Society’s magazine publication, the society recited the words of their founder Charles T. Russell, “It is the truth rather than its servant that should be honored…”
However, this logic and reason was seemingly unimportant to the Watchtower Society and their translation committee for the NWT.The Watchtower Society first published the New World Translation of the New Testament in 1950. Their complete Bible was published first in 1961, with subsequent revisions published in 1970 and 1984.

The Gospel that Christ preached and taught his followers to preach was his commandments but primarily the "GOOD NEWS OF THE KINGDOM." Dr. Walter Martin once said that the average Jehovah’s Witness can make a “doctrinal pretzel” out of the average Christian in about 30 seconds. Aside from ignoring the obvious texts that are later recorded by the disciples DOING the work HOUSE-TO-HOUSE, CITY-to-CITY etc you are also ignoring a major point in this Scripture. If you read the CONTEXT, this only applied to those that extended hospitality to those preaching. If you believe all religions including what was considered by Jesus as "gentile nations" have the same chance of being right, then I can see why a Christian Jehovah's Witness would abandon you. Accepting ALL religions in some other churches would land you a very similar situation not just with Jehovah's Witnesses.

@cubanboy740 Okay first, Islam 1) Believes in the same God that Moses the prophets and Jesus believe in. Allah just means God, it isn't another name. It is much like El' or Elohim. 2) They believe in Jesus as a prophet. So your first two arguments are based on differences that don't exist. Now their growth is indeed expanding, but that alone is not a sign of God's approval. A religion should have multiple signs spoken of through the Scriptures not just one.

So that point too is well, pointless. In fact this is not the only time he has done this, think of Sodom and Gomorrah, the Flood, Babylon the Great. God's whole purpose is to keep His people clean of badness, and He saw no ray of goodness or even potential good in their heart's so he destroyed them. But that's no reason to be afraid. God loves and protects the innocent, meek and righteous.

These are deep bible questions, not just ANYONE off the street could come even CLOSE to getting right enough to get baptized. The Governing Body does not require a set amount of hours... it is not a robotic-like atmosphere. We do it because we LOVE Jehovah and want his good news of the kingdom spread. Like the beggar lady in the bible who could only put in the smallest value of money there was, but to God that was just as much as the surplus of money coming from other people. So we don't do it to report our time, that's ridiculous. The goal is not that at all, if you believe that's the goal then your lost.

Let me clarify, most JW's are nice decent people, doing what they feel is right; they mean well. Granted there's a few bad apples. I can't say the same for the WT Society, who deludes it's flock. For example, two of us visited ONE door in my neighborhood, then we sat down in the car and drove for 20 minutes to another area where we continued our door-to-door "preaching work"; all of which was reported as field service!

I don’t want to seem derogatory to Mr. Franz, but his primary training was in Classical Greek, not biblical Greek. He dropped out of a survey course on that topic. He was self-taught in biblical Hebrew and Aramaic, which is commendable, but does it qualify him as a Bible translator? I have a very limited knowledge of New Testament Greek attained through private study (no formal training).

This differs from Classical Greek and Modern Greek. Even before the birth of Christ (by two or three hundred years), the Old Testament was translated into Koine Greek. This translation became known as the Septuagint, and is represented by the Roman numerals LXX (seventy). These Greek, Hebrew, and Aramaic manuscripts were copied and distributed widely, with the copying and distribution accelerating in later centuries as new forms of script developed which made copying a faster process.

First, it’s important to look at the issue of translation in the greater context, and the background of the translation of the NWT. The Bible manuscripts exist in three main languages. Most of the Old Testament was written in Hebrew, though portions of Daniel are in Aramaic. The New Testament was written in Koine Greek – the Greek language widely spoken 2000 years ago.

The Gospel that Christ preached and taught his followers to preach was his commandments but primarily the "GOOD NEWS OF THE KINGDOM." Which was in a few parts, but basically consisted of the following: Christ in Power, God's Kingdom Near and Salvation by means of Jesus, God's Son. None of those things are excluded in our preaching--nor are they different.

There was much more involved in his death and life and resurrection than just to provide a way for salvation for us humans. The primary part of his message was the Kingdom of God, then Salvation by means of it by means of Jesus Christ. the King of that Kingdom. We deny NOTHING in that Scripture, we Know he was Christ, the Son, and is alive.

Dr. Walter Martin once said that the average Jehovah’s Witness can make a “doctrinal pretzel” out of the average Christian in about 30 seconds. This does not mean Jehovah’s Witnesses are doctrinally correct. There are a couple of reasons this is so. First, the average JW gets exponentially more training in their doctrine than the average Christian gets in orthodox biblical doctrine.

You should be informed enough to know that many of the PRIMARY doctrines we teach existed long before any JW did. Many existed before the NLT and some before the KJV. One thing is certain, many of the people that rejected the trinity, hell, immortal soul were KJV readers! It has NOTHING to do with the NWT. We merely publish the doctrine extensively without fear because we accept what we know

Aside from ignoring the obvious texts that are later recorded by the disciples DOING the work HOUSE-TO-HOUSE, CITY-to-CITY etc you are also ignoring a major point in this Scripture. If you read the CONTEXT, this only applied to those that extended hospitality to those preaching. I do this all the time, I stay for a while with those that invite me in for drinks and food sometimes. This scripture shows what this guy DIDNT do.

What i do is enjoy my life i was given by my parents. I dont need to dedicate my life into something that is mostlikely completely wrong. i was a Jehovahs witness for 14 years. i can never for get about the friends i made but they already forgot about me bacause the Watchtower tells them to so i dont care.

If you believe all religions including what was considered by Jesus as "gentile nations" have the same chance of being right, then I can see why a Christian Jehovah's Witness would abandon you. Accepting ALL religions in some other churches would land you a very similar situation not just with Jehovah's Witnesses.

@cubanboy740 Okay first, Islam 1) Believes in the same God that Moses the prophets and Jesus believe in. Allah just means God, it isn't another name. It is much like El' or Elohim. 2) They believe in Jesus as a prophet. So your first two arguments are based on differences that don't exist. Now their growth is indeed expanding, but that alone is not a sign of God's approval. A religion should have multiple signs spoken of through the Scriptures not just one.

So that point too is well, pointless. Look at the fruits of Islam, and what terror it has caused to both Americans and the East for 1 example of fulfilling what was spoken about in Revelation regarding the Harlot and the blood it spills in murder. It actually fits more descriptions as part of Babylon than does God's faith.
