Yeah, good video actually. Shows what shit can happen if you race the train. I see it all the time from my bus yard....the gates malfunction sometimes, and i counted about 8-9 cars crossing with then down. Train or no, you dont cross!

People still underestimate the power of trains. This last time, I had to shout at three kids playing on the tracks. They even refused to get off them telling me, they would see the train coming. My answer was: Yes, you would. But this would be the last thing you would see. Everyone underestimates the power and the speed of a running train. There is no way for a freight train to stop just in time, even if the driver sees you.

Acually, the trucker wasnt a idiot. A guy was filming to show the DOT director that the traffic lights were not working together with the crossing and were confusing. The lights would be green, the the crossing activated, the light turned red 3 seconds after and all the other traffic started moving. The trucker only had 5 seconds to move the truck, but had to stop at the light. Plus, the trucker didnt know the train was coming. It was on TV, just not on the news.

Ive had similar wierd problems whilst driving a bus.Approaching a junction,a car waiting to pull out. I see it wait for 4 or 5 cars then,BAM!,ill pull out in front of the bus because its slower. EMPTY its 12 tons. If i wasnt awake and the other side of the road wasnt clear someone woulda got squished. Anyone understand the psychology?

I think trains and bicycles have similar problems when people see them they think they (bicycles and trains)are moving slower than they actually are. I have gone up to 50 mph on my bicycle and have someone try to beat me at an intersection I made it past after taking the lane but seems like a similar problem for both bicycles and trains
