@dqgates At least we still have Richard Heinberg! There are others, Roscoe Bartlett, Colin Cambell, Michael Ruppert and believe it or not Richard Branson!
He's put together a group thats looking at peak oil and actually intends to do something about it. My respect for the man shot up when i found this out.
wake up america. we are sitting on all that we need to live. yet we buy from other countries, increasing our debt and making them rich. they are buying american assets as we speak. if something doesnt change soon, dont expect the next major corporation in america american owned. we are selling ourself out
@TheD1V1N1TY What are you on about, American oil production peaked in the seventies, thats why your dependant on imported oil, thats why your government watched 9/11 happen and thats why your troops are fighting wars in the Middle East! England isnt different.
The global economy is collapsing because people started playing with too much money that hadnt even been printed yet, not because other countries own your corporations.

Not to worry. When King Obama is anointed this fall, one of the first things that the liberals will do is to authorize additional drilling. This will again demonstrate the Democrats selective responses in helping us little people.
Save the planet? No no. We need to save ourselves. When humans cannot live in it's host (earth) guess what? Earth will be beautiful again after a few thousand years. Oceans will be clean again etc.
Probably far less than a few thousand. Humanity's existence will probably barely detectable in just a few hundred years, at least according to he documentary "Like after People"
no. There are enough other resources. And finally people are thinking of it. We should have done that 30 years ago when the first oil crisis was. So i welcome a high price. Lets get wind and solar power finally!!!
did you hear that idiot say, "we're working on technologies" to get at the oil. Does nobody understand this fact - WE ARE AT A TURNING POINT. If we don't stop putting that shit into the air, the destruction to the environment will be IRREVERSIBLE! I hope oil keeps going UP UP UP, until we quit using the shite!
Hi, something of great interest and very worth looking at is, "The most important video you'll ever see (part 1 of 8)", here on You Tube. Dr Albert.A.Bartlett is just fantastic; a true genius in telling it the way it is...
What can help us? Find the alternative energy! For about 10 years, nothing much changed, but we had soo hudge technological revolution in 80's and 90's, but then everything stops. have you people hoticed that?
Matt Simmons is a pretty smart guy. The man is right when he says energy economists should "get off the air". I for one think those energy economists should be beheaded in public for peddling lies, wishfull thinking, and pipe dreams to the public for so long.
Uh... didn't bother researching before responding, eh? There are two kinds of hemp. One give you the high, one doesn't. In past times hemp was widely used for textiles, ropes, etc. It can be used for building materials, even. And, yes, the seeds have a fairly high oil content and might be used for bio-fuels. And, no, I do not smoke.
Look at Joe and the rest of the talking head reporters on this corrupt show interrupting and laughing at M.Simmons and at the serious message he is communicating here. They infer that M.S has something to gain from his stance on Peak Oil. What about them:based on this shows historical record, these financial news talismen should be investigated for their constant wagering with the truth to further whose financial gain? and causing the poverty effect that ensnares millions of Americans.1984
if marijuana was legalized then we could make fuels from that and there would be no more oil problems i swear the world and america is fucking retarded
Go see Colonel Tom Bearden's website on home power. See solar foil. See India's Air car in Popular Mechanics. See Stanley Meyers water powered car (as well as others. Check YouTube) See magnetically powered cars. There are others. Usable for home heating, based on older forms of energy use.
The Saudis doubled their "proven reserves" in just one year (by messing with the books, not with real oil), and they don't allow any international oversight. It IS the Saudi's fault, although it's our fault for believing them.
Thanks for sharing and allowing comments too. Imagine a World without USA dependence on foreign oil. I don't trust Simmons. Oil shortage is a manufactured crisis, so buy oil stock to make money. Why is USA making war on Iran like Israel's junkyard bitch? American minority men fight for Israel, and Jewish American Defense Contractors and bankers/Federal Reserve get richer. Has the USA already deployed enough Depleted Uranium in Iraq that the whole world is already breathing radioactive particles.
What a ridiculous statement: "Oil shortage is a manufactured crisis." You are obviously wrong, simple logic tells us that. The earth has finite mass, and oil is a finite fraction of that mass. It doesn't renew itself magically. We can "economically" get roughly as much oil out of the ground as we have already used. Problem is that we use a LOT more oil today than we did just 10 years ago. We DOUBLE our usage in just 10 - 20 years (price decides). That means we will use the rest within 20 years.
Well Matt Simmons is a hero that no-one listened to ( except a few ) also Dr. Steven Greer said at the National Press Club in washington on May 9th 2001, watch out for the impending energy crisis which is sure to hit us in the coming decade. All of these warnings but the oil giants knew it and continued to press ahead knowing that they would gain vast amounts of wealth by milking the consumer for every cent they had. It's time to end the supression on free energy technologies and mass produce!!!
Isn't it interesting how they want to keep the focus on "crisis"? Reality check. There are multiple free energy technologies available spelling the end of reliance on fossil fuel. In a couple of years it will have NO value. The oil companies know it and are trying to grab everything they can get right now.
r.i.p Mr. Simmons. We really need you right about now.

It would be worse if we ran out of oil then if we found a huge supply of oil somewhere in the sea or in a desert
We would be in global crisis
No electricity, No Clean Water, No Life
Our developed countries would turn into 3rd world countries in a matter of a couple of months/years
So all these people moaning about the enviroment shut up
It may warm our planet up and cause floods
But without oil we would die much quicker

would`nt you think that in 2008 that we`d have
an answer to fossil fuels?
here they are talking about finding more oil
reserves, when we need to find other means to power our civilisation.
we put men on the moon , probes and landers on mars, surely these people who do this stuff can figure it out.
its important for us all to persue this issue.

China is drilling off the U.S. shores within 60 miles today. Sounds crazy? Look into it, its true.
Maybe we can buy it from them next. Sounds like something the U.S. would allow.
I understand most of what enviromentalists do and say. But we as a nation need to command that drilling begins we are sinking and sinking fast

compare oil prices to gold and silver, oil goes up slightly, then gold and silver, equal percentages, just slight delay between.
