I played the french bagpipe (ornemuse) for a weekend and I can tell you, it's very hard. The no.1 mistake ppl make is trying to create a sound with their breath, which is impossible. The hardest part in the whole playing is to keep a certain rythm in blowing while keeping enough pressure and playing the tunes at the same time. Bagpipes are great, though I don't like the Scottish version (also not the official version, like some ppl think)
The huffing, puffing and squeeking in the beginning was hillarious! Good thing Dick showed how to do it right. Bagpipe really is a remarkable instrument. It cannot leave anyone unaffected.
Oh, Dick knows how to switch it on alright! ;-)

i love it when folks first try my setup. People aren't quite used to the amount of air needed to get the chanter to to make a sound.
I loved this, that patrick fellow can play the hell out of a banjo though.
