  • Very good job by Elton John; great emotion and passion. But how freakin cool is it to see Mr. John Deacon on bass. John Deacon.....where are you? Thank you for the music.

  • Wow!

  • i absolutely love this song sang by Elton John, but he does look quite weird singing it :P

  • Fantastique!

  • Elton John sang pretty good for this song.

  • My God, it's so good to see John Deacon on the stage... How could we lose the best bass player in the wolrd... Such a shame

  • Amazing performance

  • The Best of

  • Freddie sang with unmatched technique but I feel more intimate, raw emotion from Elton. They are both untouchable in their own ways.

It was jolly decent of the band to step down 3 keys for him.

  • LOL at the fag 3:15 dance director trying to hold eltons hand and he goes away and the guy has a disappointed face lmao

  • This is amazing performance, but for me it's ad - reminds me of John Deacon; this was his last performace, now he's retired. This is actually very last TRUE Queen live performance without Freddie: Brian, Roger and John. Song "Only The Good Die Young" was recorded later in studio with Deacon. I miss Freddie, and I miss Deacy. I miss old music times......Elton did wonderful job here

  • @bijou201 I mean: for me it's sad

  • Acho mais legal essa versão do que a original.Elton arrebentou

  • Nothing so epic since Freddie himself

  • Um grande momento...na história da música pop! Elton John, uma das melhores vozes de todos os tempos, interpretando um tema épico, que imortaliza ainda mais o grande e imortal...FREDDIE MERCURY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Only freddie could make this song special

  • Great!!!!! Queen for ever!!!

  • this is the last performance wiht john deacon!

  • I think this is an honest rendition of this song. Elton John does his best with the vocal range he has (the key was stepped down to fit him), and the members of Queen sound great... last live performance with John Deacon - who would record "No One But You" with them a year later and then retire

  • a absolute masterpiece!, it literally send shivers down my spine

  • John Deacon....

You are the best of the world!!!!

    Brian and Rodger, great!!

    Freddie, I Miss You!!!!!

    Queen for ever!!!!!!!

  • Long Live John Deacon, his final performance, Long live Freddie Mercury, his finest hour, and long live Queen!

  • Elton might not be able to have the voice of Freddy but the way he sings this song with the kind of passion that he does makes it great in its own way.

  • it doesn't matter who sang this first both versions of this song that ive heard are beyond words so im just going to stop typing now.....

  • This version is so much better

  • @ohedd Are you nuts?!!! The way Freddie sings this song (which was in one try BTW) is ridiculous. It will forever go unmatched

  • Freddy was a million times better than him

  • is no question that Elton John is good but is nothing compared to Freddy Mercury ... know that his version of this video ... the song is well below the original two tones .. whatever they are both exceptional.

  • Watch Brian May carefully, the man is bawling his eyes out, you can hear it in his voice too, and yet he still plays a triumphant performance.

  • I love It

  • love this song. elton john does bring a feeling there you can hear it in that voice. fred we all miss you!

  • It's unfortunate that John Deacon doesn't play any more. Obviously like wise with the passing of Freddie Mercury. Though i don't mind the current Queen (+ paul rogers) line up, nothing is like the original but Elton John was a great Choice to perform this song. He is the only one i think that can come close to singing this song the way it was meant to be played.

  • Queens Finale Song is jus ta s great as their fitst hit...I will always love this version wtih elton..fantastic.....I regret Freddy was too sick tro sign this one live before he died...RIP F Mercury!

  • Amazing!!

  • Without Freddie, Queen is crownless. Neverthless good performance

  • john deacon

  • the last time i see john deacon standing on the stage ....

  • one of the Best performance of Queen's songs!

  • I often use to listen to this version before listening to the 'Innuendo' album one. It somehow gives me a measure of Freddie's greatness... even compared to someone undoubtedly worthy like Elton John.

  • As others have pointed out, no one could ever sound like Freddie or ever come close. Despite that, I love this rendition by Sir Elton. His voice and the stage perforance kind of gives it a kind of gritty Caberet feel to it, don't you think? Very Awsome.

  • "FANTASTIC" well performed Elton and the boys.

  • Sir Elton John delivers this melody with all the intensity and love I believe he felt for Freddie. Truly this is one of the best performances of this song.

  • @syretta2 Totally agree, maybe Elton is the only one hat can sing this song instead of Freddie.

  • "Red special"

  • What kind of guitar does Brian May use??

  • Brian may has a self-made guitar! he has made the guitar with his father. she is unique!

  • Brian May told reporters that such an incident would not recur.

  • Elton John made an attempt to embrace Mey - but he escaped and defiantly went to the other end of the scene. On their faces was such a rage and hatred, which I never have seen them - even the ever phlegmatic Deacon face was distorted. That incident proved that they have not betrayed Freddie ... more they are in such did not participate - they realized that they are used.

  • He tuzhilsya get into music - and it did not work, because «Queen» played no «Show ...», but something quite different. They are frankly out of tune - so that they could bring to a heart attack. Taylor knock, and May extracted from the guitar untranslatable curses.

  • @gochakostas

With the greatest of respect, I'm wondering in you watched a different video. Sure, this was an emotional performance on alot of levels for all of them. But 'rage' and 'hatred'? Very powerful words. Emotional and uncomfortable, maybe. But this performances was a first on alot of levels. So, understandable I feel. And they certainly were not out of tune!!

  • Of course, in an interview they said that everything is fine - but on stage it all looked different.

It was a nightmare, a nightmare. Onstage agonized pale worms from the Ballet Bejart. Bejart himself walked on stage, stumbling over his dancers. Elton John did not sing - he croaked, like a squashed crow.

  • Another provocation took place in 1997, when Maurice Bejart ballet set to music by Mercury and the «Queen». Ballet was said to be dedicated to the memory of Freddie Mercury and all the talented people who died in the prime of life -Ex-members «Queen» asked to participate in the premiere.

  • hey elton shut off

  • John looks sad

  • @jacodance

    Surely because of Diana's death.

  • So this was the last live performance of this song before it became very bluesy and edgy. I must say that I like both live versions of the song.

  • I really like this version. So emotional and sad. You can really feel they miss Freddie and they put so much power into the song. I like Elton&Queen together. But no one could ever replace Freddie.

  • I kinda love this version /because/ of the way Elton's voice doesn't reach and fill the song the same way Freddie's did -- it feels more like a threnody or elegy, where you feel the grief and ache the band must be feeling.

  • it is okay but it ain't freddie :(

  • Is not Freddie. Sorry.

    Sorry for my english :-)

  • The last Jhon show with Queen.....the last Queen performance for me.....

  • this is the LAST real Queen performance ... without Freddie.

  • i kinds prefer this one to the one with freddy

  • agreed

  • I would like to hear what adam pascal could do with queen.

  • Do you mean Adam Lambert? That'd be great- he has the vocal range for it, and he's expressive like Freddie.

And to SpiritMolecule1- Freddie was gay, Elton John is gay, and yes, Adam Lambert is gay. Who cares? They can sing. It doesn't matter whether they're gay, straight, bisexual, or whatever.

  • No guys, I mean adam pascal. Roger from the hit musical RENT.

  • Oh! That could be great... I love Adam Pascal, I just never thought of him with Queen. And I tend to associate Adam Lambert with Queen, which is why that's who I thought you mean, I guess. But... That could be great. What gave you the idea?

  • I think the tone and color of his sound would be better in an arena rock group. and what better than the daddy of all arena rock groups, queen?

  • John Deacon needs to come back and Queen needs to find a new offical lead singer, not to replace Freddie, just so the show can go on. (But only if John Deacon comes back first),

  • @southparkfan2717 there is no queen without Freddie so theres no point in him going anywhere

  • Look its not something I would say likely, and you are right, but still the show must go on, and as I said only if John comes back. However, even then I would say Freddie would always be credited as an active member.

  • We can't to compare them. Elton John is here making a tribute to Freddy, his dear friend. He loves Freddy forever. He is The One.

  • Comment removed

  • Many props EJ... A GREAT tribute. Bravo

  • John Deacon ceased all Queen work with May & Taylor in 1997 . Is this the last time they appeared together ?

  • I think so too...

  • bravo!

  • Holy Shit....ELton one of the greatest!!!!!

  • i love iuuu freddy

  • Freddie was the best singer...

  • quanto manca il buon vecchio basso di john deacon nei queen.....Ritorna nei queen con paul rodgers .....John !!!

  • comeback john deacon!! I want u to play with roger and brian again a gentle guest vocalist could try to sing what freddie have done so many years!

  • Maybe they will... something with a young guy from a talent show, who sound a bit like freddy. so maybe they'll make music again

  • How about Gary Mullen?

Search on youtube for Gary Mullen and the Works.

  • 2 words: Peter Johansson

  • Does anyone know if a high quality version of this video is available on any Queen DVD??? I am pretty positive that Elton doesn't have this clip on any of his stuff... cause I own most of it. I plan on collecting all of Queen's DVD's but would like to start with one that has this clip in it. It would be nice if that whole concert is on a dvd... but if not... I will live with this clip as an "extra" on another DVD if available. Thanks for anyone that can help!!!

  • Holy cow elton is ADORABLE!

  • Perfeito!!!

  • last preforn of queen in trio

  • We all know that nobody can sing like Freddie. It usually annoys me when people try to sing his songs, but Elton is just amazing. Maybe it's simply because he doesn't have to compare himself to Freddie - nobody is going to sound like Elton either.

As an aside, Adam Lambert is very good, yes, but he doesn't have the power in his voice like these 2 singers. He has the stage presence and an incredible voice, but Queen songs are just not for him imo. Freddie sang rock like nobody else ever could.

  • Без Фредди как-то уныло выглядит.

    Покойся с миром, Фредди....

  • that's john deacon! so he kept being part of the group for some years

  • this was his last peformance with roger and brian.

  • brian may looks ALWAY so young XDDD lol

  • Thats what happens when you stay away from drugs, alcohol, and smoking like he did.

  • kawałek jest super klasyka rocka i jeszcze to wykonanie po prostu cudo

  • Freddie and Elton are amazing. I like how Elton sings this song with power. Also I just wanna say he looks like a combination of Bill Gates and Winston Churchill in this video.

  • HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!! Yes, great comparison! It's true he seems like both!

  • You have to acknowlege the fact that nobody will ever be better than Freddy.

    EVER.

    Elton John still is amazing.

  • I just wanted to add my own comment here, based on the Freddy Vs. Elton thing. As a big fan of both, I just wanted to say that I think it's more elton paying homage to Freddy. Besides Elton as an outstanding member of the gay community is doing freddy a great tribute

  • That's a great version, but nowhere near freddie.

  • Whoever says Elton was better is an idiot. Elton can't sing such a powerful song not because of the vocal range but also because he can't interpretate the feeling Freddie puts in the song.

Vocal rangement - well Elton is a kitten infront of Freddie. Mercury's voice is unique and extremely powerful and I don't think there is someone or if there will be someone who will get anywhere near his voice. Someone becomes a legend because he or she is unique, and Freddie was unique.

  • The feeling that Freddie put on this song was because he already knew that he was dying. But, I am agree with you, nobody likes Freddie. About a replace for his unique voice, what about Adam Lambert?

  • Adam lambert is extremely good! He will never replace Freddie tho! However he is very very good!!!

    P.S.

Thanks everyone for the thumbs down! You guys need to learn to accept the truth!

  • OK, now I'm crying, this song is so sad. I think that both of the interpretations are emotionals in differents ways. In Mercury's version you can feel the sadness through his voice, was very deep. But in Elton's version you feel emotional at the fact that he's not there, you can see the member of the band really sad and Elton's could interpretate was Mercury was feeling by the tone he sang. You can't help to miss Mercury and feel sorry for his tragic dead...

  • utter crap bout elton john

  • video bien chingon me gustaba como cantaba mercury pero ni hablar me gusta como interpreta la cancion elthon

  • Freddie and elton are both amazing singer i dont thingk anyone can compare them

  • I think the original song with Freddie was more emotional on its own, but I'd almost have to say this video is more emotional than the original song. I mean, in addition to Elton's singing, take a look at John Deacon. He just looks downright depressed.

  • simple the best version....outside of Freddie..but no one can replace him .

  • This is an amazing version of the song, but I don't get why some people find this version more emotional than Freddie's. He was literally dying when singing it, so while Elton is great in this there is no way his performance is more emotional than Freddie's.

  • I agree. Elton sang it in order to remember Freddie Mercury, but if you listen carefully to Freddie's version, you could actually hear sadness in his voice.

  • This song makes me shiver. No matter if it is sung by Elton or Freddie

  • porque tuvo que morir Freddie Mercury si era un genio!!!!!!

  • I actually like elton john's singing better

  • i agree,,, gave u a thumbs up because ure goin to be raped by all these die hard nobody can sing apart from freddie mercury fans lol

  • thanks comrade

  • awesome ! I love this forever fresh song . God bless Freddie Mercury.

  • i wonder what john deacon looks like now are there any photo's of him?

  • The Show Must Go On!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Fantástico!!!

  • doesnt sound right in this key! way too low...G minor.

Freddie's version is the best, very powerful and that seems to have gotten lost here

  • Noone will ever sing it like Freddie, coz noone will ever feel this song like him... Elton John does a great job though.

  • Well, it wouldn't really be possible to replicate 'I'm six weeks from death, but I think I'm still gonna give AIDS the finger one last time' would it now?

  • if only john deacon would come back that would be soooooooooooooo awesome

    1º Freddie Mercury

    2º John Lennon

    3º Elton John

    :)

  • search in youtube " valeria lynch the show must go on".

tribute to freddie mercury and queen

  • Elton a le coffre pour chanter avec Queen, c'est clair ... De toute facon, il sait chanter tous les repertoires ...

  • he might have the darker voice, but Elton lacks the power that Freddie had.

  • i think elton john can sing this song better he gots a much lower voice

    then freddie

  • legendary. hands down stuff of legends

  • Great John Deacon! and great Queen. It sounds great....but imagine the song performed live by FM. It would sound divine.

  • ah i cant listen this without freddit it makes me sad he's died when this comed.

  • great song

  • this song has so much feeling i love it!

  • probably as you were a kid and shat outside your toilet, your mother scared u with gays..

  • you make me sick

  • you can't replace freddie mercury but you have to admit elton john is probably the best possible person to cover for him

  • I almost like Eltons version better.. so powerful.

  • i fully agree...this version had much more emotion...as other guys told...

  • i agree show must go on

but my smile still stays on....

    best song of freddie mercury

  • Wow!! I love the way Elton John does this song. He is so incredible. It's an amazing song. Probably the best one Freddie Mercury ever did. And I am a huge Queen fan.

  • elton is no freddie, but nice to here him singing it for him

  • Such a fantastic song. Elton's voice goes with it so well. He's paying tribute his friend in a wonderful way.

  • It's strange when you guys are always try to compare artists. When Elton sings this song, he doesn't want to "overcome" Freddie or something, all he wants is to sing his friend's song, to remind people of Freddie. What's up with all the comparing and bashing the other artists?

  • oreo!!!

  • The is only one Freddie Mercury, and Elton John is nothing compared to Freddie. But it's a beautiful tribute to Freddie. Rest in peace, I miss you.

  • Wow! pretty good.

  • Elton's performance here was amazing, it put a whole new personality into the song. Great job, as always!

  • It's like with many other rock bands. Many get problems with drugs or alcohol. Queen never had that problem, but they also got inflicted sadly.

  • great mr.john deacon!!!

  • A worthy tribute to Freddie. Many have tried but Elton really nails this.

  • R.I.P. Freddie Mercury

    Born:Sep-05-1946

    Died:Nov-24-1991

  • I think Elton's performance did justice to Freddie. Granted, Elton ain't better than Freddie (who is?), but he performed very amazing.

Poor John, I can see in his face that he's fighting back tears...

  • nice job, Elton.the best "alternative" version i've seen.George Michael and other sucked reaaaally bad.Freddie ever!

  • Great !!!

  • Freddie and Elton performed this equally well in their own unique ways. I think they are both equally amazing

  • this version was great and it does justice to the song that all the band members took part in the performance, Elton john did a great job and knowing that he has great respect for freddie i bet he sung his heart out. Freddie is, hands down the one and only person for this song, everytime i hear the original i always tear up since i know it's freddie. Queen is awesome and I liked this one with elton, but i am a freddie, brian, roger, and Deacon-Queen fan forever:D

  • elton john is the best ever .

  • Freddie is better, but Elton is nice too.

    Freddie ruleeez. He IS Queen.

  • Freddie's version is amazing and, unquestionably the standard by which this song should be judged.

That being said, Elton John is an outstanding singer and certainly did this song justice.

Not sure why youtube has such an immature base of characters where everything is ____ vs. ____. They are two different singers singing their interpretation of this song. Elton did a fine job.

  • rest in peace freddiee we love you foreverrrrrrrrrrr

  • This was last John Deacon's live performance. No one mentioned, I think.

  • May's guitar has an atmosphere of sunset feeling. The great sadness and dignity by a true guitar master.
