This song is about the experience of Jesus in these final days before having to save humanity by merging with the fallen angel, thus removing the evil temptation from the world. The ultimate sacrifice. I bet, Curt and Roland don't really know what inspired that album. At any rate,.. those are my boys...
The Hurting just has to be one of my favourite albums of ALL TIME!!! I was brought up in a house with very diverse influences, both from my brother, and my father........pink floyd, EMP, fleetwood mac, YES, from my dad, and the likes of tears for fears, heaven 17, and many others from my brother.
@megaknightofcydonia Thats fukin weird floyd,,,,genesis ,,,,yes,,,,I were brought up on all that but the hurting is the best album ever....Maybe there is a link who knows
This album has always been referred to as my favorite of all time. Right next to DM's Black Celebration. Being the child of a divorced mother and father, both with addictions. This album resonated in ways no other album could. I felt old, I was an adult child because I had to be the adult. Do you feel the chills like I do when listening to the songs on this album? I still do, 25 yrs after discovering it in high school.
The whole album is great. Like LaFarfalla246 I was listening to this type of music when I was a teenager. I was extremely close to my uncle who was several years older and he introduced me to this group and many others. The only way you could get this kind of music was to buy imported vinyl records. They were so expensive and he would work and save up and every time he got a new one we would sit in his room and listen to it. When I hear something like this the memories flood back. I miss him.
Heaven comes to he who waits But I know I'm getting nowhere & all the deeds of yesterday Have really helped to pave my way Though there's no one near me now How come everyone can touch me? You see the torture on my brow Relates to neither here nor now Watch me bleed Bleed forever Although my face is straight, it lies My body feels the Pain and cries...
@HUSKY57887 - I was a teen when this album was released & it was a friend who gave it to me for my birthday. The whole album is full of songs about emotional pain & some people go through a whole lot more than others. I believe that it is what we go through & how we deal with it that helps us become stronger & more emotionally rounded individuals. It may take some time to get there but in the end, I truly believe it makes a person a better & more compassionate human being.
One of the better new wave projects I ever knew.
