  • Just saw this one-You always amaze me Robert!

As an aside- how I miss BYDLS boards. I'll never "do" the F word (facebook) so another one bites the dust, ay?

    Dilly

  • I LOVE my Intense pencils, and I've only just "graduated" to the blocks after hearing about them from US friends. Your video is so helpful. Thank you

  • @broomegal - thanks! So glad you're enjoying them. I love the blocks. They're so handy.

  • COOL SHIRT! Thanks for your very helpful tutorials!

  • @Lisa3562 Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it!

  • Those sticks look so good to use! I have the pencils.. but can see how great the stick would be for larger colour areas.

  • @mellie48bris Thank you! They are, they're so convenient for large areas. Also a little easier to use when you're swiping a wet brush across them to treat them as if they're pan watercolors - and it's ink, it's waterproof. So much fun!

  • Shaysailor, thank you! Glad you are getting the Inktense. They're a joy to me, right now I don't have my blocks with me but I should be getting them pretty soon. I moved to San Francisco and not all my stuff came with.

  • Thank you for your comments! bugeyedmonster2, I was dealing with the best lighting I could get at the time. I've moved since then, so when I get set up to do more videos the lighting should be better. It'll be a bit yellow cast but bright enough to see what's going on, especially if I turn all the lights on at once.

Don't feel bad about your work looking "juvenile," aphatdj - everyone's does without a whole lot of practice. Use up a sketchbook by drawing every day. Date every sketch.

  • Thank you for the review. Finally someone who speaks up! It's so frustrating to try to watch reviews when you can't hear most of what is being said. The blocks look great, can't wait to try them. I've ordered the pencils and waiting impatiently, checking out reviews. Thanks again for sharing.

  • @Shaysailor Thanks. I found out I had to speak up quite loudly on the first one so ever since I've been sure to enunciate well and speak loudly. Enjoy! I love the pencils and blocks. You won't regret getting them!

  • Nice review. I have the pencils and wanted to try the sticks for coverage. Its wonderful to watch a review from an artist who is knowledgeable about art/ materials and can communicate what they are doing. well done sir.

  • @ColbyZcom - thank you! I love them, they're so easy to handle and so versatile. The colors are wonderful.

  • Once everything's sorted out here in San Francisco in a month or two I might make a video on Quick Drawing just to demonstrate this. You can do it - and the more often you do, the faster you improve.

Seriously, everyone draws "juvenile" till they learn. It just takes a while to learn.

  • Aphatdj1, don't feel bad about your work looking juvenile! Mine used to. Everyone's does till tehy get enough practice.

My suggestion - every day try to do a short drawing under 3 minutes. Or several. Fill a page with them daily. Date them. Measure your progress against previous ones. When you do a dozen some will start looking better than the rest. Five three minute drawings will help more than one 15 minute drawing.

Use anything you like for the Quick Draw, including Inktense Blocks!

  • Stumbled on your video for inktence blocks, I have to say, something emotional comes through your videos. You are so talented I wish I had it. Right now I'm hoarding all sorts of art suppys ,but my work looks so juvinile. I suck. Anyway thank you for the vies and product reviews look fowerd to more.

  • Sorry about that. The lighting in this room is pretty bad. Even on the sunniest days, it's too dark to shoot videos without also using Daylight lamps. I am moving at the end of the month, so hopefully my new room will be sunny and bright. If not, I'll think about getting some more lighting once I'm settled in.

I do the best I can with the lighting I have. We'll see what happens when I do the next one! Thanks for the critique!

  • Good demo. Only bit critic; the lighting. Bit dark at first. There was a reflective 'glare' spot on the box of the intense when you had it laid out on the table. The page of the sketchbook you were drawing on was almost too bright at first. (But I guess you moved or something as it changed in value a bit.)

After you had done the flower, and started on the green bit on the top, I really couldn't see the green you had put on the page as it whited out due to the lighting.

  • Wow, thank you for all the comments! These are fantastic tools, they're quick and powerful and easy to handle. Much easier to get bold effects than with the pencils and the same brilliant intense color. Wayne, use yours, I know you'll do so well with them!

  • You're a really good artist

  • These Inktense blocks/sticks look really useful. I have some of the Inktense pencils now and the are very strong colors as said in the video. Great for sketching. Thanks for the vid demo!

  • HEY I AIRBRUSH THANK YOU FOR THE IDEA

  • I have a brand new pack of these that I got for christmas and not used them yet. A great review of these and nice art aswell. Nice to see that they don't need that much to create strong colors!

  • Very informative and descriptive review Robert. I love how you just ripped out a drawing in the review that quick. Best part was the fast coverage of the green. I am so looking forward to these.

    Thanks for the sneak peak.
