Him setting the tree straight was a metaphorical representaion of his own internal crisis. He was at a point where he was desperately trying to set his life straight through sobriety, marriage etc (straightening the tree) ... but the tree had been uprooted (his harsh upringing- struggles with alcoholism, drugs) and was bound to fall again.
.I always thought Chris replanting the little tree was symbolic of him trying to give something else another chance in life which he did not have.Great ending and perfect song by los lobos. The best ending of all the episodes

ya this was christophers last real episode cuz he ends up dying right in the beginning of the next one and i remember after watching this one i was like OH MAN! christopher is DEFINITELY my favorite character!! then tony kills him haha what the fuck and the next episode wasnt even that good it was weird.
Michael Imperioli is sooo good. I would love to see the scene where Ade first tells Chris she's an informant and when he decides to turn on her (when he's watching Joe & Jane 6-pack at the gas station)
ya christopher was my favorite character for sure hes was the most well developed u liked him and wanted things to turn out well for him but he was a prick and heroin addicted scum bag at the same time i love his character this was a good last episode for him the episode after this he dies in the opening scene it sucks if they ever decided to bring it back on the big screen or what ever christopher would be dead this was my favorite ending along with the epiosde join the club
I never forgave Tony for killing Chris. Chris was my favourite character although I don't think you could ever say he was a 'good' person. All the times he bet up Adriana and he never treated this guy well, he always bullied him. But he had his moments and apart from this scene he was almost 'ggod' if you know what I mean. He had a really hard time, having no support with his drug problem and stuff. His best moment was definetly the pine barrows though
nah he threw the brick at the waiter cos he was mad, he wasnt planning on killing him paulie killed him cos he was having a seizure and they woulda got in ttrouble
true hes by no means innocent but he didnt point a gun at the guys head and squeeze out of nowhere, also when he shot the guy in the foot at the bakery he couldve fallen and hit his head and died similar situation, but the point of this episode was to show chris's descent into madness, what tony "got" in the next episode was the idea that chris was a devil of sorts (that he created) and tony had to stop him
Chris was a devil of his own doing, think back to the scene where they have an intervention and confront him about accidently sitting on Cosette. Tony says "I oughta' suffocate YOU, ya little prick". Also telling him that if he slips up once more he's dead, after seeing his daughters baby seat post-crash he realizes that Christophers drug addiction could have claimed yet another life, and so...he suffocates Chris just like Cosette
i think on some level tony felt responsible for creating this devil and when tony "gets it" i think he is realizing that he may have saved chris's daughters life
I agree, a compelling scene i enjoyed was when Tony had just gotten back from heisting the wine from "The Vipers" and he says to Carmella "Hes got a wife, a nice home and a baby on the way...Let's not sabotage his progress." while he stirs the wine in his hand, very ironic
yea u know whats funny alot of younger addicts (if they want to) quit around that time of year (fall) right before halloween, the mischief urge sets in aka tony and chris stealing the wine, they mention it after the wine is taken, something about fall makes people think about survival over the winter
Yeah for sure. If you get into the symbolism of it, I think that's what fixing that tree was about - his last stab at trying to repair the life that he knew wasn't going to happen cuz everything had been thrown to shit. He knew everything was futile at that point.
@DAC027 i didnt at all!! i remember after watching this one i was like oh man its official christopher is my favorite character then after this he died i was like oh what the fuck
The last Christopher-oriented episode and he is brilliant in it. One hell of a character. If a character can be similar to the Greek tragedies or comedies than usually he or she is a well-crafted character.
i agree christopher is one of my favorite characters in tv or film history. very well developed, tragic, a villian that we love to root for and get emotionally attached to
one of the best sopranos endings ever, after the blue comet and made in america, christopher is one of the most beautifully developed chracters in american tv history. michael imperioli is a legend

i think the symbolism of the tree meant that he wants things to go back to the way things were before the whole adreana ordea.

Its' great symbolism. Kill a friend, help a tree. I love it.
