  • Looks like you put too much on on you first bite. I just tried it too yesterday and must admit, I Love it! Maybe because I spent 8.95 at Kroger? LOL No, I really do like it, in fact I might have some now? I also made a video on trying it... Marmite Hugs! Dale

  • lol

  • Mo...the look on your face when you took that first bite...PRICELESS!!! LOL!!!

  • MARMITE = heaven

    :-)

  • BUTTER! Thats the golden rule. Its way too strong without it. Take it from an expert :)

  • @mariomatty NOW ya tell me! Where were you 2 years ago? ;-)

  • @RiddleSpider Just watched the vid. Lol. Now go and try bovril! It's less strong.

  • @mariomatty I'm scarred for life after the marmite ;-)

  • I didn't care for Marmite much either, UNTIL, one of my mates suggested melting some seriously sharp cheddar cheese on the toast first, then add the Marmite (thin layer, mind you). Best served on multigrain bread. I'm now addicted ;)

  • @coreystuart oh, I don't know, not sure I can try it again. Your way might ruin my ideas of cheddar cheese and then where would I be?!

  • you're supposed to have butter on the toast first riddlespider,

  • @geoffchapa I have tried it again since, done correctly, I still don't care for it but hubby loves it.

  • Seriously? You did it wrong. First you need REAL BUTTER on the toast, which you didn't. Then you take the same amount of Marmite and spread it over the whole slice. Making sure to not leave any deep pockets of the stuff or you get a good strong kick in the mouth.

Chalk this up to user error. I'm Californian and just tried Marmite this week and I love it because I did it right the first time. It's better if you put on the butter and marmite and then microwave for ten seconds.

  • thanks for the lecture, LOL!

  • I AM FROM POLAND AND I LOVE MARMITE

  • I think it helps if you grew up with it. :)

  • "you either love it or you hate it"

not true, it is an acquired taste

looking back, i don't remember why i bothered trying to acquire it

but i enjoy eating it now

  • my hubby likes it, I have tried again, but still do not like it, decided to not try it again...there are so many foods I love I figure I can afford 1 that I don't :)

  • Marmite. I guess it is the first cousin of vitametavegamin like on I Love Lucy.

  • omg u had so so so very little!

  • Trust me, it was plenty!!

  • I'll stick with Skippy ... thank you.

    =)

  • LMAO! I eat Marmite for fun and knew you wouldn't really take to it! Twish told me about this video so I had to hunt it down!

  • I tried very hard to be polite....so as not to hurt Twish's feelings. LOL Total panic when I could not find my water. :-)

  • Oh don't worry about it. You either love Marmite or you hate it!

  • ummmm...what it Marmite? : )

I am afraid to ask after your response to the smell, but I have to know. : ) ugh...do I wanna' know? Yes, I do...I think...YES! Tell me! : )

    Peace,

    Angie

  • All vegetable yeast extract. Doesn't that sound yummy? Tastes kinda beefy.....my hubby likes it tho...no accounting for taste. LOL

  • yuck! : )

  • you didnt have butter on your toast?! you have to have the butter..so it all melts into eachother :)

  • Now ya tell me! :-)

  • doo ittt!

    marmite is my life force.

  • Hugs to Cheryl!!!

  • I should try marmite sometime.

  • No, no you shouldn't, trust me on this one. Save yourself!!!

  • As a new zealander, I grew up on marmite, but now as an adult I prefer vegemite and have it everyday on toast for breakfast. Marmite tastes like dead ants to me now. If I was on a deserted island I would want my vegemite.

  • I have heard there is a vast difference between the 2. You can keep them both. LOL

    :-)

  • Vegemite is so totally better than marmite or promite, go the yeast extract spreads!!!

  • You can keep all of them :-)

  • Try it with a good cheddar cheese, some decent bread with fresh butter. If your feeling daring add some freshly sliced onion.

  • I like onion and all the rest you mentioned, but still not sure if anything will make me like it. :-)

  • I dont like the stuff either!Tried it on toast too, but found it Too salty. I think i still have the jar, about 4 years old!!!!

  • It was just wrong. I cannot even figure out who was the first person to say "Hey! Let's eat this!" What were they thinking.

  • Do you know that this 'stuff' is the left over from making beer? And people Eat it????

  • Exactly, then I think about the character Homer Simpson and realize how people started eating it. LOL!!!

  • Yeah! Homer Simpson has a lot to Answer for!!!!Yuck!!! Oh! Have you tried Haggis ? It's a lot better, And we Scotts will eat tons of it for Rober Burn's Night (25 feb) You can also get vegetarian version which has the same spice's in it!!! Yummy!!!

  • "UM? UM! UMm!" LMAO! YES, Riddle. Marmite is DEFINITELY an acquired taste! Like crisps (postato chip) sarnies (sandwiches). Love the reaction though. That was very nice of Twish to send some your way. Now.. What are you going to do with the rest of the jar? Do you have anything around the house that needs fixing?

  • :-) My husband actually likes the marmite and he is welcome to it! Otherwise I think the cats might like it.

  • What's marmite?

  • All vegetable stuff, yeast extract, tastes like beef bullion on a bad day. How's that for an answer? LOL

  • Yuckified and sufficient, thanks!

  • I made marmite cookies for Christmas, do ya want some?

  • How did I miss this one? Nice reaction...same one I gave my ex-mother-in-law years ago when she actually made gravy out of weiner water. ACK!

  • OH NO!!!!! I need to throw up now. That is way more disgusting than marmite. I would eat marmite everyday before I ate that gravy.

  • dats da same reaction I had last time you made dinner fo me, sho'll iz, lolololol

  • MissO, that's cuz I was trying to poison you. I know you have money stashed away in that bosom.

  • and dont you dare ask me to shake my money maker either

  • We have Marmite over here. I can't stand the stuff!!! yuk!

  • Finally, a kindred soul. :-)

  • Wow, you kept a straight face when you said it was 'okay'.

    Looks, voice, AND acting talent.

    You're so cool!

  • LOL!! I don't know about cool. :)

  • Whats marmite precious??eh.....what marmite is??

  • Vegetable Yeast Extract. Kind of like a pasty beef boullion is that best I can explain.

  • Well that was the 13th November - so I guess you're hooked now, right? :-) I love Marmite .. but I loved your reaction even more. Reminded me of those I get for my lapdancing ;)))

  • Hubby likes it, the marmite that is. He also likes lap dancing, but probably not from you. ;)

  • LMAO! I think you're right about the lap dancing - I've not met anyone who was impressed with it to date :)))

  • Maybe you should switch colognes. Or socks, no one likes black socks with plaid shorts.

  • marmite is disgusting i like your channel i am subscribing 5 stars lol scotty:0)ps i found your channel from my friend twish 1999

  • Yay for Twish!!! Thanks for the sub. :)

  • I had never heard of marmite before today. And from the comments being left and what your opinion is, I can say it certainly should not be a spread!! LOL Now marmalade or peanut butter or just plain buttah.....ok. But beef boullion tastes belong in stews and soups. Not on my toast. Sorry!! LOL LMAO! LOL

  • See how much Twish loves me? LOL

She does love me doesn't she?

  • I don't know. I'm really starting to question this!! LMBO!!!! LOL

  • It shouldn't taste or smell that bad! Its just whats left over after beer brewings...but I must admit yeast extract should never of been made as a spread!!!

  • It is just odd. It smelled like beef boullion to me. And my head said that it is not meant to be ingested. LOL

  • Spider!!! Put butter on the tast first then marmite HMmmmMMMmMMMM lovely.

  • I have a better idea. Put marmite in the fridge and serve toast with butter and jam. :)

  • Oh my gosh, that doesn't look very good and when you smelled it I felt my stomach flip. I've seen that stuff in the stores here and you can bet I won't be buying any. lol

  • All I can say about it is odd. Very very odd. :)

  • What is exactly the taste of that mo?

  • VAL!!!! :) Kind of beefy and salty. But it is all vegetarian. Very odd.

Missed you! I just got home....

  • I was so waiting for you ALL DAY LONG!!! SO WAITING!!!

  • Me too!!! Well, not waiting for me, I have me all the time. I was waiting for you! :)

  • OH silly vanilly...I have missing you every day every hour.. every tear I let dropped! *

  • Missed you too. :)

  • I'm BAAACK!!!

marmite - i've never tried the stuff. but i've tried "promite" and "vegemite" and they quite nice. maybe it's unaustralian of me, but i think i prefer promite. but i still like vegemite.

it is an unusual flavour and it is hard to describe. its something that requires getting used to and so i can understand how weird it would taste for you!

  • Missed ya honey! :)

  • *hugs*

  • YEA!!!!!! You're back! Good to see ya :-)

  • Try Aussie vegemite or Bovril too.

  • Try Aussie vegemite or Bovril too.

    Sindy

  • I was sick with this cold thing everyone here has been getting. UGH!!! I was wanting to make vids but did not want to infect anyone. LOL

I want to cross the pond so badly!!!!

  • You have to make sure you spread it on REALLY REALLY thick - like get half the jar on there - YEAH! - JK :-) ha aha

  • You are so sweet to me. What a lovely person you are. You must be a dentist.

  • I love saying Marmite, MARRRRRMITE! It must take good! It just must!

  • It is lovely spilling off the tongue but only as a word, not as a food product. :)

  • And hey!.. your video is not even marked for love spam...so I guess I'll end this here...

  • Thanks for all the spam! It was much tastier than the marmite.

  • Yawn.. oh my.. it's really late now.. like 2 AM late... and on a school night at that..

  • Go to bed!!! Right now it is 4 a.m. for you.

  • ..no my previous comment was no joke..

  • ..srsly.. I could send you "svið" ...do you feel like taking a bite out of a sheep's face? :-)

  • Now you owe me a new keyboard. I just threw up all over this one. blerghrgrh

  • ..oh did I say delicacies?.. I meant disgustings..

  • Watching this made me want to send you a bunch of Icelandic delicacies..

  • No ok I'm kidding, I have no idea if it's really disgusting or some kind of jelly jam thing...

  • Not sweet at all, beefy and salty. And just plain odd, odd, odd.

  • Eww.. are you really gonna eat that?

  • 1 girl, 1 marmite! You know it baby!

  • ..just so "English tea" of you..

  • Haha toast!..

  • Marmite huh?

  • Ha what a brave one, although I cannot speak as one who has ever tried Marmite. I'll keep an eye out for it, and maybe I'll try it one day. Have a good one, peace.

  • Thanks! :) Video it if you ever try it.

  • Your so funny ! i love marmite, did you get use to it ?

  • I love it too:)

  • Millie, I think I could possibly get used to it if I mixed it with butter and then spread it super thin. With lots of water near me. LOL

  • You should try Surstromming.. That's Swedish fermented herring.. Can't send you any though, as the airliners refuse to carry the can, due to them being heavily pressurised, because of the fermentaion process.. :) I'm not a fan of Marmite neither.. but on occasion I like some.. :)

  • No thanks! LOL

  • Will it make me drunk? I could try it if it did...

  • I reckon' you need to be drunk to try it.. in that order.. :)

  • No problem there. ;)

  • I could get drunker if I ate it?

  • marmite is tame compared to vegemite. you did a very good job, lol. i wanna see you eat some anchovy paste on a cracker. thanks for sharing this.

    *tori*

  • Send me some anchovy paste! LOL I am brave. :)

  • you got it girly...send me your address...lol.

    *tori*

  • Marmite's great on buttered toast! But as the ads say, you either love it or hate it!

    :-P

  • It was just odd, odd, odd, odd. :-0

  • no vegimite is ten times better!~peace, ben.

  • I am not so sure about that. I don't know if either one can be described by the word better. :)

  • no you're right, its something you definitely have to grow up with-an aquired taste.

  • LOL, u r sooo durty gurl!

  • Thank ya! Proud of it!

  • What exactly is it made of?

  • yeast extract, salt, vegetable extract, niacin, thiamin, spice extracts (contains celery), riboflavin, folic acid, vitamin b12. Doesn't that sound yummy! Smells like one-a-day vitamins to me.

  • Ahh I see, like a thick Geritol..LOL I think I'll pass, I just watched your other video, I'D sure love to try that Yorkshire tea! What a wonderful package she sent you, I just found her a couple of days ago, very sweet gal love her videos!

  • Sherri, Twish is a truly lovely person. Way down deep in her soul lovely.

  • I swear--I watch you eat this...and I gag. Your reaction: Priceless.

You should have uploaded this onto Revver or somewhere where you get paid per hit. You'd get BIG bucks. WATCH GIRL EAT MARMITE! hee hee hee

  • I just rewatched your response vid. I am showcasing your brilliance on my channel. :) How about you pay me instead. OK?

  • LMFAO - I Love all the takes of "woa" "woa" Now thats a laugh!

  • Thanks Lori! :)

  • heh heh i likes it mixed with butter in like a paste and then spread on toast thats already been buttered. or in a paste wiv butter and grated cheese in a samidge

  • Everyone tells me NOW that I should have used butter. Now they tell me.

  • lol you dont have to mix it wiv butter but i discovered a little smidge of it mixed in with butter duznt burn yur mouth off the same

  • sumtimes i acshooly likes havin my mouth burned and when the jar iz nearly empty i scraps out the end bits and eat em

  • The things I learn about you! LOL

  • Oh yeah, I don't think I want to try that any time soon!

  • C'mon! Be brave with me!

  • Oh that reaction to the smell was priceless...Next time ask Twish for some Cadbury's instead! :)

  • I stole Halloween candy from my boys, that made it all better. 12 Snickers later....

  • That is much the same reaction that Zipster had to Vegemite.

    You are brave beyond reason.

    Be Well.

  • I figured she needed the laugh. :)

  • (Runs screaming from kitchen). "No, no, really it's not that bad..." (Drinks several litres of water.)

It is a strange thing really. I mean I've grown up on vegemite (which isn't far removed from Marmite). But if you hadn't had it, it would be very strange to encounter.

  • I was raised to be polite. Can you tell?

Now what can I send her to try?

  • I'd go for something like pickled pigs feet! ;-)

  • OK, now I have to go throw up. LOL!

  • Hahahaha....LOVED it. The mad search for the water was sooooo good. =)

  • The search for water was so true!!! I panicked.

  • Hahaha...had to watch again. Your eyes were SCANNING the room for that glass. So good.

  • I had it all ready to go, then moved it. My son was in the room but I did not want to ask for his help as we don't put them on yt. :-0

  • OMG!!! I can't believe it...you tried it? *laughing at bedoboy comments* EXACTLY! my Grandad in England used to eat that, he'd butter up toast, spread Marmite over it and try to "tempt" me with it...NO! NO! NO WAY! It is yeast! oh lawd!

    ROFL hahahahahhahahahaha

You can get Colman's mustard in the glass or plastic jar here in the US. It is really premium mustard and worth a try, far better than any American plastic squeeze mustard.

  • Marmite is just plain wrong but mustard is yummy!!! My grandma called the dark brown type 'magic mustard' and I still call it that. Magic!

  • Lol at all the 'ummmms'. I've never tasted that, but I've heard it tastes like what your reaction looked like!

  • I cut out some of the 'ums' LOL There were way more in there. :)

  • That was great! LMAO

  • Thanks!

  • LOL You looked like you were looking for a place to spit it out!! Too funny!

  • I was freaking out but trying to not be rude on camera. LOL

  • That was a desperate search for water if I ever saw one. Just think how easy it is going to be to keep LT in line now. All you have to do is threaten him with toast and Marmite for supper if he screws up. ♥
