  • the gas gauge on my 92 moves like that too

  • Sounds awesome !

  • Nice run. I used to have a 1979 GMC 454 and I was afraid to take that thing over 50 or 55 mph. Lol

  • 0:03-0:06 bad gas mileage

  • Got it, I have to go faster to have more fuel!

  • @timmypstyle that is because of the sensor in the gas tank that shows how much gas in the tank thinks it has less gas because when he floored it all the gas went to the back of the tank

  • what the hell? look at the gas gauge... lol

  • mmmm yummy gasoline!

  • looking to get something like this next a 3/4 ton gm truck with a 454, i need something that gets better mileage than my k5 (it gets 10)

  • Look at fuel consumption! :-)

  • thumbs up if any1 else notices the fuel meter/ gauge going up

  • @MegaLimera1n lol it whent down a 1/4 of a tank

  • @BuBoNiCcHrOnIc91 yah i was going 1/4 then it went up 1/8 - Watch out ford focus 40mpg is nothin compared to this gas guzzler :D

  • @BuBoNiCcHrOnIc91 then when back up. Must be a stepper motor design back then or something or rather.

  • @Tallerico500 stepper motors are used to control idle in fuel injected engines o.O

fuel meters use variable resisters; the more fuel, the less resistance- the less fuel, the more resistance, hence a lower reading on the 5V reference signal to the fuel gauge.

  • @localdu They use steppers in instrumentation clusters too.

  • @MegaLimera1n It's like a g-force gauge

  • Yeah buddy thats just awesome. The heart beat of America

  • The engine without modifications? Not bad ..

  • That is not a 454, that is the iron duke engine. J/K.

  • wow, it took 1/4 tank of gas to get to 30 but u got some back.....wish my truck did that lol

  • is it stock?

  • @acres90 Absolutely.

  • @bonecsontos that torque monster has no problem hitting 100mph. coulda bought me one but i didnt because i needed a daily driver that didnt need to come with its own oil rig. 89 silverado with no rust, new dunlop mudders, 4.10 gears, 4 spd and a new 454 for only $4,000. the other was a mid to late 70s f150 4x4 all custom , lifted and had a new built up ford power 460 crate motor for $8,000.

  • hahaha...al gore dislike this!

  • @acres90 I feel demolished. :-)

  • wish my gastank filled up in my 1983 silverado as i climbed to 100mph:)

  • what as the fuel gage goes down when he hits the gas

  • Thats one hell of a big block because the fuel gauge went up!?!?!

  • why did it get more gas?

  • what no anti slosh mode?? 0:04

  • what no anti slosh mode?? 0.04

  • wish my fuel gauge went up instead of down

  • Everybody noticed. Thanks.

  • Anyone alse notice the fuel gauge? It got more fuel as it went faster :o

  • lol as soon as u punch it the gas gauge goes from half to 1/4 but thats just cause of the mechanical system but pretty funny, dont put a 427 in er though fuel consuption is 100 liters for 80 km of driving lol

  • 3 speed?

  • @mhapayers94 Yes.

  • @bonecsontos I think its a turbo 400

  • Haha I love how the gas gauge drops as soon as you stomp on these old chevys. I know its just cuz of the gas sloshing to the back of back the tank but its a reminder that punchin an old carberated big blocks gunna cost ya

  • fuel going up wish i had that problem lol

  • that thing hauls....like the video!

  • wtf?? instead of the fuel gauge going down.. it goes up??

  • @1godfather01 the tanks are shaped long and narrow . . . thats just it sloshing around lol when its done mine is usually A LOTTT less than when i started lolll

  • thats slow as shit i seen my needle on my 4.0 ranger rise faster than that already no way in hell that would stand a chance against my 429

  • I think that's probably the most stable 70's speedo I've ever seen....the others shake like crazy

  • 0-60 8.6 sec. thats pretty good.

  • i really like how the gas gauge is going up instead of down with the throttle to the floor. i want one of those motors!!!

  • u have more guts than me man! i had a 79 big ten and i never dared to go over 75 because i was afraid a gust of wind would blow my butt off the road lol. they are great trucks though!

  • brings back memories of my '78 scottsdale

  • just looking at that gas gauge i wonder how many gallons you used :P

  • hahaha watch the fuel gauge when he accelerates.....I know it's fuel sloshing but it's funny to watch

  • can i have a ride?

  • where is the car body lol

  • very cleen truck and sound

  • ok. the fuel gauges in all GM trucks before 88' were mechanical and were not precise on gas measurement because the float is mechanical and moves arround as the gas sloshes arround in the tank. thus giving an estimated ammount of fuel in the tank. hope i cleared this up for some people.

  • On the older gmc/chevy trucks the way the fuel sending unit was in the tank as the gas slushes to the back of the tank it would lift the fuel sender float and it was wired straight to the gauge so there is no control module to buffer the signal

  • wow a 454 that gives you back fuel loljk

  • if you look at the fuel gauge its goin up lol

  • thats my kind of truck the gas needle goes up with the speedo

  • F2USV2YR8ls here at youtube

    no idea about fuel economy.

    never wondered.

  • two quick questions, how many mpgs? and what body style is your truck?

  • @Erhorn300 its a 454 who cares about fuel economy.

if your gonna get a truck. who really looks at fuel economy???? its not a car..

  • heart beat of america chevy no1

  • first 454 I have ever seen tht actually makes the gas gauge go up when you hammer on it

  • suckin gas and haulin ass i pick my 83 up today it also has 454 bbc

  • u are gaining gas

  • @n00bcak35 hes just getting back what he lost in the beginning :P

  • what rear end do you have cause its not reving that much when you get around 70

  • That's pretty good. I had a '78 Chevy Big 10 with a 454. These trucks are pretty heavy, and real un-aerodynamic. That motor is pushing a big square truck through a lot of air at high speed.

  • @63whiskey YOU ARE DUMB!

  • are you high? It has a lot to do with it actually......

  • I HAVE A 78 chevy C10 big10 and love it lol its gota a 350 im building a 355 thats Going to push 410-440hp im hoping

  • 383 is same price to build and way more torque

  • 383 is more for hot-rodding.454 is like for pulling and farming etc.

  • @oreilly335 hahahahahahaha

ok just keep telling your self that one

hmm wonder why all fast dragsters are bbc based motors. i havent seen a rail type dragster with a sbc......hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

  • Nice way to get offensive over nothing man.And the 383 is much lighter than the 454..So straight out of the box in a light car,the 383 will be better for racing..The 454 on the other hand has more torque which is why you HARDLY EVER SEE A 383 IN FARM TRUCKS,ETC!.Its most of the time 454'S.Which as i've already said are better for pulling.

  • Got the rotating assemble and its all coming together ....Vids coming

  • Huh something irrational

  • it is so funny to watch the gas gauge go down when u floor it.

  • the gas gauge is just like the tach!

  • it's a mechanical gauge that works with a floater, under hard acceleration the fluid in the tank sloshes back and the floater sinks to it's level.

but yeah, you could prolly watch the gas gauge move with a 454 :P

  • i know that. i was trying to be funny! lol

  • wow ur going faster and your fuel gauge is going up

  • Comment removed

  • 20 some od seconds well the thing can defenently move nice dude

  • Thank you

but how can I make sure that it in good condition and how long until you reach and you know what price.

    best regard

  • A 454 crate engine is usually around $6000 plus shipping.

This is a renewed engine with everything you need to install.

Just drop in the car and go.

  • nice

iam from saudi arabia and i have caprice 79

how can i give engine like this

  • Hi.

The easiest way is to purchase a crate 454 turnkey engine at Ebay.

Drop it in and ready to go.

  • wholesale engine deistributers in abeline i bout a 454 for 900 bucks

  • @bonecsontos agreed. shipping to saudi shouldnt be an issue

  • I have a 1985 Chevrolet Silverado Shortbed 2WD with a 1998 350 Vortec in it, eldebrock aluminum intake and a quadrajet card, 350 turbo automatic, that thing runs just as good as this truck and has 2.92 gearing, but not quite as fast on the take off. Chevrolets rock but the 350 engine is my favorite, it runs just as good as any of them, if right, damn it is so fast, I've raced all kinds of trucks and "NEVER" been beat with it, and the other trucks were all souped up, mine is bone stock.

  • Check out my video about this truck!

    Youtube code:

    F2USV2YR8ls

  • damn man now that was bomb good take off lol

  • Thanks.

I am uploading a video of this GMC truck that was restored by us completely.

  • i gotta '76 c-10 with a 454 and if u keep ur foot on the floor the speedo will go until it is almost facing down...lol

  • ha I got a 350

  • was that down hill because i noticed your fuel gauge went up!

  • No. Flat highway. The fuel in the tank went downhill because of the acceleration.

  • damn man 454 cant go wrong, i bet a 440 could keep up, if not walk away from the whole situation

  • if you raced a stock 454 and a stock 440 .. inj the same body of car.. the 454 would dominate.. its oncve the greatest motors built..

  • @letsstartariot95 depending if on what stock 440 it was!!!! If it's the interceptor 440 or the heavy duty 440 found in the trucks or RVs then it's bye bye 454!!!!!!! But I'm comparing stock 454s to stock 440's from the mid to late 70's not earlier

  • wow it takes me that long to get 0-50 in my 85 6.2 but i 25MPG

  • good for you

  • i have the same truck---- a cam and intake woke it up HUGE! would be happy to share with you the cam specs

  • Yes, please do that. Az item number would be a great help.

We are currently installing a 454 into a '73 ElCamino. That motor is stock too and want to dig for a few more horses.

  • took 11 seconds to get to 60

  • 8 seconds he begun in almost in the third second till 11th second

really it's a monster i think you will smoke my crown vic ^_^

    thnx man for the vedio

  • lol the first 454 ive seen that the gas guage went up under wide open throttle

  • lol is not that! its just that those trucks always do that! like if u go uphills it will do that! the gas tank moves, thats why!

  • Thats pretty quick man. Do you have any idea what gear ratio you have in your rear end? I have an 84 Silverado and my first gear runs out at 30 mph, and when im shifting its only at 3500 rpm. I want something like this in mine. Thanks, Dan.

  • 454cid big block.

  • LOL, why dont you just open up the carb and drop doller bills in LOL jk mate nice sound,

  • what does da engine have it runs nice
