with the new sony lens embedded into Iphone 4S, this solution is really interesting. I already bought a olloclip and I think i'll get a Smoothie. in many configurations, this affordable solution is better than more complex and price solution in hardware or software (time is money )
@izleep Yes, there is. The front of the box will indicate which model you are buying. The device itself is the same, however the phone/camera adapter is different for each.
I like the idea but it needs to be adapted to work with smaller hand held cameras that record in HD. After all, why would you try and make a iPhone movie whe you have no external memory and crappy battery life?
I would also like to see how much it weighs and whether it folds up. I see no reason why Tiffen can't produce a super light weight very for modern super light weight cameras.

Can anyone tell me what the circular light is I often see on the front of steadicams. it looks light it circles around the lense and appears to be an aid to a person doing piece to camera. Thanks.
Seems to me steadicam is off the mark with this one in that there are no considerations for considerably better mini hd video cameras such as the flip...
Looks great! I hope desperately that we can have some adapters for small hybrid high definition cams like Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS3(TZ7). It's in all dimensions (except depth) smaller than iPhone (maybe a bit heavier) and makes better videos by far! With better wide-angle lens (Leica lens), Dolby stereo sound and cinematographic controls (perfect "intelligent automatic").
@MladenMTube This device is clearly not light, compact, or easy to carry. Typical cameras (point-and-shoots) record 720p now days and are very light, compact, and easy to carry.
@ucheucheuche You're missing the point. It seems absurd to buy this thing instead of an actual camera. Sure, the iPhone 4 camera is impressive - for a cell phone camera. I guess you don't understand the meaning of the word "mobile".
@dave3030 The iPhone 4 is actually surprising good for video. Do you own one? Also, you can use the Smoothee with quite a few devices, and also build adapters to use quite a few Point & Shoot cameras, being that the are similar in both weight and dimension.

@BedededeII $180. Now at Amazon. The first quantity shipment went out earlier this week. Soon, the word "backorder" will be bandied about.
BTW, the final is much better than the prototypes. Much.

Nice device, but awful video. Effects and transistions are over the top and it doesn't even show a video of someone using the device.

Considering what their products cost - this is the best their marketing dept can do?

I don't understand. Why would someone pay for this when the iPhone camera isn't that great? The money could help pay for a standalone camera.
dave3030 2 years ago 6
Because the device is very compact, light, and easy to carry around, and typical cameras are not :-)

@chrisknappER thanks for the input. Do you think it would be fairly easy to build an adapter for a Gopro or Contour HD sports camera?
