Drove a Miata once and it really handles well but the power wise and legendary blah blah blah..... Fake? Also, the Miata is a throwback to the classic brit sports cars like the original Lotus Elan and the Triumph Spitfire. without the Miata to compete against, cars like the Solstice probably would not have been made. I recommend you drive one, just so that you maybe will be able to see why people buy Miatas--not for looks, but for fun.

Raw speed DOES get old. Going FAST and then slowing down in a corner is synonomous in the automotive world to pre-mature ejaculation. I don't like autox myself, but I've seen some crazy high grip Miata's at those events. And they're more predictable at the limit then an S2000. The Z4 is just too expensive, heavy, and not really that sporty to compare.

turbo-lag ruins downshifting and upshifting in non-racing (road) situations - need I remind you again that the miata engine is based on the TURBO 323 rally car! Its the same engine MINUS the turbo. Why? It made the car slower! Many miata owners do not turbo their cars based on this fact dispite how it adds nearly no weight and tons of HP. What you need to remember is sport cars are TINY and balanced, thats what makes them fast - otherwise the camaro would be the #1 sports-car
