  • Religion produces immorality and evil bc it causes people to attempt to be good as they compete with each other for Gods approval and reward. Religion is a distortion for God only approves of those that admit that they are evil and entrust themselves to God to change them from within. Religious ppl suppress their evil while those that have the SPirit confess their evil as God uses the cleansing of that evil to magnify His grace and power and love.

  • Alex Johnson kinda looks like Harry Potter, only with not so messy hair!

  • Shouldn't be flinging the "there are more Christians than atheists in prison" so often, quite often those who do go to prison suddenly find Christianity/Islam or some other frikking religion so they can gain brownie points with the prison guards/workers, also prison isn't exactly an easy life, things can get rough and prisoners find comfort in religious delusion...Oh and btw there's an increasingly larger proportion of Muslims in prison- guess what...The imams find prison a nice way to indoc :)

  • religion not only cause a population that holds on to bronze age superstitions and morals, but that is also vulnerable to gullibility and arguments of authority and when in government leads to bad social policies and economical policies that are not based on reason but ideology.

  • Of course, correlation is not causality, but I think it's easy enough to see the causal link between religious conviction and anti-social behavior. Religion promotes an us/them tribal attitude, and in addition to that, it provides a placebo for relationships. If you have a strong relationship with your imaginary friends, it's no longer so important to work on human relationships.

  • Excellent! Can't wait to read it, it will be lovingly placed next to The God Delusion and God is not Great on my book shelf.

  • BLa BLA BLA In the last days good will be spoken of as evil & evil will be spoken of as GOOD.

  • @meanring69 "BLa BLA BLA In the last days good will be spoken of as evil & evil will be spoken of as GOOD." Religious people should apply this "prophecy" to themselves and quit whining and playing martyr. This kind of stuff has always gone one, not just in the supposed "last days". Get a grip.

  • @meanring69 Are you retarded? serious question.

  • Anyone with an internet connection can confirm these results by spending a few minutes online. The fact that religious institutions didn't feel like doing that, but publicly criticized the writer regardless, shows their total disregard for truth.

  • nice Harry Potter glasses

  • Oh what a big surprise....not.

  • Well superstitious religions aren't good. We just need a better does of reality!

  • This study isn't going to convince religious people, because they don't believe in evidence, anyway.

  • @theocean1973 Sad, but completely true.

  • The band High Plains Drifter sum it up really well in this clip:

    youtube.com/watch?v=sWgdvXTP8no

  • this is such a great edit. hilarious

  • When studying anthropology 10 years ago this theory was already up and accepted amongst most scholars. They were all scared to loose their jobs if they lined up their research in that view. Entering the 21st century and this looks like the inquisition every time the link is made

  • CHRISTIANITY A belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him that you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree- LOL! Yeah, that makes perfect sense!

  • love the summary

  • I could never buy into this... but when you put it that way, NOW it makes perfect sense. LOL

Religion is a crutch for people who are too weak to navigate the evils of the world on their own. Unfortunately, most evil IS religion based... it's a self fulfilling prophecy.

  • Religion causes different levels of psychosis in people.

The recent study by UCLA's Neuropsychiatric Institute confirms the earlier findings by hundreds of researchers at dozens of universities and research institutes such as CU, USC, Stanford, Duke, Harvard Medical School, RAND, Brookings Institute, etc. showing that Christian belief is symptomatic of delusional thought disorder--"a serious mental ilness."

  • Only 0.2% of prisoners in the United States are atheist, therefore yes, religion is a poison to humanity and it causes more violence.

  • @bombarderoazul That disregards a large number of contributing factors. Poor education for example. It's probably more along the lines of religion and crime being two independent outcomes stemming from similar causes.

  • @bombarderoazul You should relate this to the percentage of religious population in the US as a whole. If there are more religious individuals in the entire population, it makes sense that there would be more religious nutters in prison. To get a real indication of the influence of religion, you should compare the following magnitudes: number of religious peeps in the population/number of religious inmates, and atheist population/atheist prison population.

  • @mhasy1965 Or Fox, right?

  • holds what? you cut it off there

  • if i recall correctly he said it holds firm but i might be thinking of something else

  • beacuse we needed a study to know this why? lol

  • why r ppl so confused about this?

  • 98% of ALL inmates in the prison system in America believe in God, Jesus, Yahweh, etc..

  • All the so called 'good Christians' will simply claim all the bad one's aren't Christians, like Hitler for example. Don't you just love how Christians love their own kind? LOL!

  • Agreed. Hitler was about as Christian as one could get. Racism, genocide, hating Jews is an all-to historical Christian practice. He even recruited some Muslims to join in on the fun in one of his secret side armies. Plus they "Gott Mit Uns" on their buckles meaning "God's with us." See how one can justify such inhumanity by claiming it to be divinely inspired? Only in religion. If Christianity is true, Hitler is in heaven because he truly believed in Jesus. And that's all that's required!

  • Indeed.

  • @cyraside

yet another reason to pray for hell :) (i am an atheist and that was a joke, just saying)

  • Only on MSNBC!

  • Ai too bad this Alex Johnson is cut off in the middle of a sentence (the clip is too short).

I was eager to hear everything he said about the subject.

Nevertheless the non affiliated scholar and palaeontologist is called Gregory Paul!

    Very interesting! (I think)

    Yep, Religion corrupts the mind.

    (hey what else is new)
