From what I do remember from playing this, it wasn't just a simple reskin. You could spin dash and fly, just like the Tails from Sonic 3.

While it makes it a much easier game than it already is, it also adds a small gimmick to the game that makes it a little more interesting for those that preferred playing as characters that could do more than just the basic running and jumping.

Although I didn't make the hack myself, those reasons would probably have been why I would've if I knew how.

The canon storyline is different between the Japanese and English prior to Sonic Adventure.The Japanese storyline is now used internationnaly,rendering your manuels pointless and obsolete.

Japanese:Sonic secretly loves Amy.

American:Sonic is flat out in love with some sqirrel named "Sally."

Japanese:Doesn't tie in with any other media.

American:Ties in with SatAM,Archie,and AoSTH.

There are other differences,but I can't think of them right now.

true fact is that amercians called him eggman and english people called him dr. robotnik in the first 3games. the description on the games where made differently when it was first made to suit each country, but later in the games eg sonic adventure it just turned into his nickname.

He was called Eggman in Japan for the same reason Miles was called "Tails"... it's something symbolic of how they look.

Regardless, in the states Miles Prower (A play on words of Mph) is still tails, while Eggman became Dr. Ivo Robotnik...

and since Sonic is a r-r-r-r-rapscallion, 'botnik is in the hearts of all Sonic gamers who were loyal enough to watch the show and/or read the manuals

yeah sonic 1 pissed me off becuz i couldnt save and back then they didnt really have game guides like they do now, so i was siting up there so angry becuz it took me like a year to figure out how to beat the 1st boss fight lol, i think i did pretty good for a 3 year old tho. Sonic 1 is the 1st game i owned and played, sega genisis is my 1st game console, and it gave me one hell of a good time even tho it was some times too hard. Sonic 1 will always be a classic, and the music is timeless.

If you still want to play as Tails in Sonic 1 though, I suggest you try looking up Sonic Remastered or the newest version of Megamix.

Oh and the reason Eggman's eyes and some things are orange could have been the console limitations like most text had blue around them in the original version.

I found a glitch in this game (and normal sonic 1). If you manage to hit Robotnik twice in a row on the last hit (like the first hit kills him and then you manage to hit him again before he goes back down) he will stop exploding and his lives will go up so high the first number is glitched.
