did you see jumper ? did you see knowing? angels and demons? well that's red, you can't see the film look here because theres no cinematography , keep that in mind, but the camera it's a bad ass
I just looked at "Che" and I stand by my comments. This camera certainly isn't as good as 35mm film, still looks like a good video camera to me. I'm seeing no breakthrough at all. And I'm not seeing any vast improvement over my mini-dv cam, which is a good camera. Sorry if this offends you, but I call it as I see it. It certainly is no huge improvement over current available video cams IMO. Also, if you're going to have a demonstration, at least use good lighting, all cams need lighting.
Well gee, I've seen half a dozen of the most recent Red-shot feature films at the Motion Picture Academy theater - on film and in 4K - and they look incredible. And I was a film-trained cinematographer - I know what good imagery is supposed to look like when seen hi-rez. I've been working on Soderbergh's "Contagion" (for Warner Bros), shot on a Red with the latest Millenium chip - and it looks amazing.
Funny how everyone is still trying to catch up to the quality of 35 mm film, but still no contest IMO. Nothing beats really good film and really good lighting/cinematography. This footage doesn't look any better than my $1500 Panasonic Mini DV camera which looks really good for the money. Here's a news flash, if you want the look of 35mm film SHOOT IT ON A 35MM FILM CAMERA!!!!!! Duhhhhhh.
1080P is 1920x1080. 2K isn't much higher... only 2048x1080. Not really an increase in resolution. But cinema 2K will have much better colour depth or latitude. 10bit vs 8bit... which translates into more steps per colour.
@Optics233 Wrong. 2k is 2048x1080. 1080p is 1920x1080. 2k has 2211840 pixels, 1080p has 2073600 pixels, or a difference of 138240 pixels. Not that big of a difference.
Was the RedRocket being used for the real time watching of the R3d files?

Go see Knowing or Che in the theater and tell me they don't look any better than your Mini DV camera.

Idiotic choice of adjective. Grow up.
And the entire point of this video is to demonstrate the workflow, not the imagery. Where you paying attention at all?
