  • people need to learn the workshop is where the cracks get filled in and the creases get ironed out if it weren't for the "workshop bitches" (who are the original cast) we wouldn't even have the show we know and love today

  • @whitetiefilms Hey, those "workshop bitches" are the original cast. If it weren't for them, you wouldn't even know who the hell Jonathan Groff was. Be a little grateful will you? x)

  • this is weird/creepy.

  • So, this version sounds creepy... lol just sayin'

  • who sang this? It kind of reminds me of an actor from a tv show while he was still on. He sounds like Zach from bones if anyone knows who I'm talking about

    thanks (:

  • @glitterxgirl007 Eric Millegan.. I read somewhere that he did play Moritz in the workshop version, so in answer to your question, yes that is him most likely.

  • Jonathan Groff can touch me any day. Screw these workshop bitches.

  • were did u get this i want it lol

  • thank god they changed ernst's part, because in my opinion that makes the song but definitely not in this version :S

i like the bit around 1:40 though

  • Eric's voice sounds funny lol. It's interesting and somewhat lazy-tired sounding which adds something special to the song somehow..

  • anyone know whose singing at 2:30 xx is it the same one who sings great sex??

  • its the masked man, yet i have yet to figure out his role. i like his voice in contrast to everyone else young voice. it arounds out the show to me.

  • i don't like whoever has the first solo. his voice is too nasally

  • Gavin Creel from Hair 09 Revival

  • I do like it-it sounds more classical, rather than a rock tone. That works pretty well for this song, I feel, but not for Don't Do Sadness.

  • whos singing at 1:30? and who butchered it at 2:00 and whos singing at 2:30?

  • He sounds so beautiful!

  • I really like everything after Moritz's solo. Especially the girl who sings Ernst's part. but the guitar riff at the end is so out of place. yuck.

  • People keep railing on Eric Millegan's voice in this workshop, but it's begun to grow on me. Especially in this song.

  • I don't like the Masked Man showing up all the time; kinda creepy IMO.

  • That's kind of the point.

  • this is not normally the sort of thing eric millegan does and ive heard what he can do i cant hold a grudge

  • It's really hard to listen to these workshop versions because they are just so different.

  • it's eric millegan (Zack Addy from Bones) who played Moritz in the workshop. And it's not Gideon Glick singing as Ernst, or in any of it. He would've been about 11 when the workshop was going on. He was only 18 when he was in the Broadway production, 17 Off-Broadway.

  • their otto is AWESOME!!

  • Who is the soulful guy in the middle. so nice.

  • I think that's the masked man.

  • Gavin is playing Melchior in this 2001 workshop recording, but he is not singing at all in the beginning.

  • Ick...the guy singing in the beginning (Gavin?) is terrible. Is that Gideon? He sounds awesome here! =)

  • wow touch me is bluesy!! lol

  • You know. I think I've really taken Gideon for granted until this clip.

  • agree

  • that's gideon glicks singing? 1:30-1:53

  • No, I'm not sure who it is, but I don't particularly like his voice, so I that's what I meant by I've taken Gideon for granted.

  • oh man i love this guys voice

  • that's NOT Gavin Creel singing (in the beginning).

  • ... That sounds nothing like Gavin. He's MUCH better.

  • I know! The voice is way too brassy and nasally...it's weird! How could that be Gavin???

  • That's not Gavin. It's whoever is playing Moritz. I forget his name.

  • @HorHorBagel Eric Millegan. He played a character on Bones for a while which is where most people recognise him from.

  • Doesn't hold a candle to J Groff

  • I agree completely! Groff is infinitely better.

  • @mommygray Is it POSSIBLE to hold a candle to Jon? I mean, I really don't think so ...

  • @mommygray i disagree. consider their careers and how connected they are through roles and vocal style, they both have beautiful voices.

  • Gavin Creel was Melchior in the 2001 Workshop, so it is him in these recordings.

  • who is meclior?

  • I've read somewhere its Gavin Creel.... I'm not sure how accurate that is though :D
