  • Awesome work! Great animation, nice reading and one of my favorite Lovecraft stories.

  • chillssss

  • =))

    you are great!"

  • Terrifying, indeed! I'm a big fan of H. P. Lovecraft's work and I was ecstatic to see this :D

  • When that gate opened, i shat a brick

  • brilliant!!

  • Nice...

  • Isn't the old man the guy from "Dagon"?

  • this is really good

  • good!

  • 0:58 is that... CTHULHU?!

  • read this story pretty creepy aint gonna be bothering that old man any time soon he really is terrible

  • great narrative from the original story but if u excuse me i have to go cry in a corner

  • its ok ...for me gueesnought...but this cartoons makes me creepy...

  • two thumbs up..from dis cartoon.....the story is so unexplainable if u not focus on the story but the story gives justify to the character the terrible man was collecting soul from the jar that so creepy....i wish HP lovecraft wiil make this as a movie remake...i like this cartoon...

  • @steffmorris31 hate to bust your bubble, but h. p. lovecraft died in 1937. he was a writer, not a director.

  • This wasawesome!!

  • Second time i stumbled on this video. Narrative, animation and story are all bloody brilliant. Very entertaining to watch.

  • reminds me of my new neghbor

  • i realy like H.P Lovecrafts storys but sometimes i finde them hard to understand cuz its to much of a high literature for me can some explane a bit more of the story k? thanks :)

  • Fantastic job on all aspects of this piece! The animation, the voice, and the music/sound effects all flowed together very well and worked to create the eerie feeling that you got from reading the short story.

  • Excellently done, you really captured the eerie, Lovecraftian atmosphere.

  • You simply must put these up for download

  • Horror novel see video book trailer

  • This was great story i cant wait to see more of your work

  • What a beautiful storey. I like the animation to.

  • Awesome work! Cant wait to see more.

  • WOW!!Cool!!

  • Wow very nice. I just started reading Lovecraft's complete works today and now I really need to read that story XD

  • I love these kind of stories.

  • The obvious reading out loud ruined it.

  • I agree with some of the comments as to the naration.

you need a much more sinister speaker. slower, more foreboding

  • I didn't really like the actual story, but your adaption made a lot more sense and was much more intriguing! Very well done.

  • Reading is okay.. but slow down. Your rushing through it and losing a lot of the horror. It's coming off as monotone because your hurrying through the sentences.

  • Great job! If you make The Call of Cthulhu and put them on a disc. I would buy, and so would others. Love it. Thank you!

  • ok dude

  • Really well done.

  • Excellent!!!!!! Please upload more! I have always been a fan of HP LoveCraft short stories.

  • This is awesome. The animation is a thrill.

  • Aw, the man is a soul catcher, a terrible fate befal those who wrong a soul catcher.

Considering its HP lovecraft he very well started this character type with this story.

  • awsome

  • Did you read the entire story, or did you use the animation to tell a part of it?

  • Excellent job! I'd like to see more of Lovecrafts works adapted to animation like this.

  • genius!

  • excellent-the voice & reading actually enhance the horror of it to me because it is ordinary telling a horror laden story. I thought the whole thing was very well done.

  • amazing! Simply amazing.

  • at 2:05 i thought "gordon freeman!"

  • wow great vid :)

  • i love this !!!!! you should check out a video called "strange video patchwork mummy23" you should like it ... love the lovecraft

  • An absolutely perfect adaptation! Not a stone out of place, all done as it was in the story, from what I can remember.

    Howie would be proud.

  • Perfect, tone-wise and really good-looking. Loved this!

  • Truly terrible - in the good way.

  • A friend sent me this link ><.. Probably not the best idea to watch :(, when still adjusting to side-effects of meds...

  • 10 on 10

  • For all interested- our next Lovecraft film based on "The Statement of Randolph Carter" will be done in 1-2 weeks! It's been a long time coming but it's worth it! We think it really blows our first attempt away!

  • @EldritchAnimation fantastic. Keep them coming. You guys really GET what Lovecraft was all about and I love it.

  • @EldritchAnimation fuck yeah i love the statement of randolph carter (i just recently got done reading the case of charles dexter ward and was quite surprised to see him mentioned)

  • @EldritchAnimation I LOVE this please... please.... PLEASE make more!!!!!

  • Great video :D

  • freaky but yet cool

  • The tone of the reading is fine, but he could enunciate a little more clearly at times, I think. Nevertheless, a thumb up.

  • First time I saw this was around midnight. Got nightmares all night.

  • @View100 Dammit! know I´m watching it and it´s midnight guess I know the rest of it Dammit!

  • AWESOME JOB!!! I just got into reading lovecraft. I wonder if that led and string bottle Works?

  • @MrChristopher1997 with care and proper precautions use the string & bottle method to communicate with servitors, egregores, and spirits.

  • Excellent job!

  • great and raw! perfect 5/5

  • I can't help but notice that the narrator sounds almost the same as the character NPC Zert from Temple of Elemental Evil.

  • Good short.

  • love how lovecraft gives the crims foreign surnames hahaha his racism is funny now

  • Excellent animation. Very entertaining. Poor narration, however.

As Fagan queried, I will answer (not tryin' to slam the video, just being honest):

    1.) Poor enunciation.

    2.) Improper pronunciation (i.e. REP-uted, instead of re-PUT-ed, etc.)

All in all, totally enjoyed the video (just thought I'd offer some constructive criticism and clear up any misunderstanding about people's opinion of the narrator).

  • An excellent job, but why do so many HPL narrators speak so fast? HPL's horror was of the creeping kind, and I think readings of his stories should likewise creep slowly into the ear, like spiders crawling over your brain. Slow down.

  • Simply wonderful work! This is definitely getting favored.

  • Where is it written in the story that the T.O.M. got their souls locked in bottles ?

I persume that he'd sooner conserved souls of his shipmates in the bottles and somehow his body like the "lizardmen" (reptoids) from other stories.

  • Good Job, this is really good!!

  • I made a video about an old man. Check it out. -Greg

  • The animations scare the hell out of me. I wish todays literature would be this good

  • That narrative was so amazing, my ears have erections.

  • great!!!

  • Why do people keep knocking the voice over, I think the guy reads it fine and the animation sums up what the strory well.

  • @FaganThePagan

They expect high production even on simple youtube clips. I quite enjoyed the video myself.

  • The voice is often quite hard to decipher especially for non-native speakers, otherwise it's a great job!

  • This is really excellent! I've set many of my Cthulhu Mythos stories in Kingsport, and I have a character who lives on the porch of the Terrible Old Man's haunted house -- and the opening shot shewing the house in this video is delicious in it eerie atmosphere. Thanks for a great video!

  • creepy but some what funny

  • beautiful

  • Bravo!!!

  • The brutal V/O ruins some nice animation.

    Too bad.

  • you'd think he would drive off.

  • It was a great story.

  • good movie great job

  • Great !

  • This is a VERY good interpretation of one of Lovecraft's works. Lovecraft's craft of conjuring a story, rather than telling it, really brings the reader into HIS reality whether they want to or not. His descriptive writing was so powerful that some believe he, and his readers, may have actually MANIFESTED some of his works into reality through shear BELIEF! Unless they existed to begin with and he was just their tool to announce their presence. This film does his work justice.

  • I can understand everything he's saying.

  • AMAZING!

  • try talking slower instead of talking incredibly fast. It makes it seem like you don't really care about the subject at hand, like you can't wait to finish reading.

    Talk Slower.

  • Insn't this the captain mentioned in the "Shadow over inssmouth"???

  • I couldnt hear a single thing the narrator said, and my volume was turned up loud.

  • then you, sir, need to fix your speakers

  • That was Great

    Good work

  • AWSOME! :D but i still wanna know who the old man really where :P

  • word things so they make sense

  • Love the art work !

  • that was AWESOME!!

  • Simply amazing! The best Lovecraftian adaptation I've ever seen!

  • cool story!!

  • Freaky story!!!

  • epic

  • Well, its better then you or I could ever do, thats for sure...

  • you sir are a dumbfuck, I poop on you.

  • how are you going to talk shit about someones natural accent? idiot.

  • He is reading a little too fast, but then he does have to condense it all into a four-minute film and, of course, he did have the balls to actually get up and do it, which counts for a great deal in my estimation.

Overall I thought this was rather good.

  • vary nice

  • This showed also HPL's xenophobia. The three robbers are all 'foreigners', a Dago, a Polak and a Chicano.

  • There's more evidence of his fear of strangers in Dunwich horror, horror at red hook.

  • Anyone notice how the statue at 0:55 looks like Cthulhu?

  • Yes Skel and I think that's who it is I mean the old man was a sea captain he probly saw a Cthulhu related event ^^

  • A good, strong, start. Always good to see people loving Lovecraft enough to want to work with his stuff. Suggestions: Try reworking it with more attention to the manner in which everthing is lit. Also, the narrator comes off as being...well, indifferent... to the subject matter. Watching this, I can't help feeling that you might recruit a woman with a nice, rich voice to do the narration, and benefit greatly from it. Neat work, though. Keep at it. I'd like to see more.

  • I'm sorry having to tell you that I'd appreciate your art work much more if you had not neglected one very important ingredient of your oeuvre: There are reasons why articulation and speech are being trained...sorry...but that was...bad reading... :o/

  • This story gave me chills. Esspecially the old stones, and him talking to the bottles childishly.

    Amazing work. Truly amazing work.

  • Geez... Awesome animation, almost exaclty as I imaginated it when I read it in my HPL compilation book...

You guys have to make one for the "El Pescador del Cabo Halcón", don't know tough the title in english...

  • This is wonderful. Very Lovecraft feel. Just great.

  • Amazing work.

  • Comment removed

  • Great work!!

  • Let's see what else you can do, EldritchAnimation.

  • This showed also HPL's xenophobia. The three robbers are all 'foreigners', a Dago, a Polak and a Chicano.

  • Damn the terrible old man did some old gangsta shit

  • Make more!

  • Dark, epic, amazing! HP would be proud to see this!

  • excellent work!

  • your right this would make an excellent movie!

Just watching this video gets me hooked.

It seems like a classic that would never get old.

  • I hope to see some kind of similar animation someday in cinema... it´s really amazing!

  • amazing

  • This scared me shitsless.

    Excellent work and wonderfull animation!

  • I really liked that!

  • I really enjoyed this. I thought I had read of Lovecraft's work but this story was new to me. Thank you.

  • It was as dry and sinister, as the H.P. wrote it. Thank you.

  • fucking brilliant!

  • the voice is horrible, very nasal and he mutters many of the words. which is a shame, because the animation, direction and the atmosphere of this is really good.

  • Voice fits perfect.

  • i shouldve said the voiceover work is horrible, the actual voice of the actor is sufficient. but the speech is horrible.

  • Yeah, he's a good voice for what the story is about ^_^

  • Great Video, but... mMmM I don`t like the voice.

  • love it!! :)

  • damn that old d00d fuck them up

  • awesome work, very creepy

  • Great work

  • Awesome! I love how you guys did this classic tale. Could you also do The Statement of Randolph Carter? That Lovecraft story is pretty creepy. :D

  • I was very impressed by this.

  • A very good video. I felt chills in the end. I love that it is never disclosed WHAT kills the men.

  • Great video

  • good. a different voice would have been nice.

  • Stupid old peeps stupid...........but wise

  • Such a naughty naughty terrible old man

  • Great video. Only thing I noticed was the dude pronounced the word taciturn as 'tass-i-turn', instead of 'tack-turn'. Otherwise awesome. :D

  • what a terrible old man

  • Very good. It did capture some of the atmosphere. The voice over was ok.

  • Very good. I thought the voiceover was a little stilted at times and certain words didn't come out quite right. The voice was also a bit deadpan at points. But a good effort that put shivers up my spine...

  • fuckin awesome!!

have you heard the hplhs 1930s style radio dramas for mountains of madness or dunwich horror check em out if not ,very well done

  • great

  • Awesome!!!

  • Make more right now! Like Cthulhu rising up from Ryleh and stomping the shit out of a seaport town before being cosmically sealed back up again by some jealous elder gods working together for that sole purpose. Lovecraft never wrote anything like that but you'd have to take some author's license. :) That would give me a huge chubby!

  • that's a good job. Well done

  • very very nice

  • hte first bit reminds me a lot of Thief (computer game series), but with less dextrous articulation.

  • Simply great! Thanks for it :-)

  • really awesome, nicely done, when reading Lovecraft's stories always it feels so real that i feel I'm really there too..

  • That was really good, great voiceover and excellent storytelling. The animation was good and creepy, too! Liked this a lot !

  • Haven't yet read that story, but i can say your style and animation is really good. I liked it a lot.

  • GREAT JOB

  • great job

the nariting at the start was anoying because it was kinda mumbly but then it just adds to the effect

    great job

  • Master of horror, suspense, fantasy and darkness
