  • There's NOTHING traditional about the fire ritual. It was developed in the 1990's by Czech faux-absinthe creators to mask the terrible flavor of their product as well as draw in hipster tourists with the mystique. I hope that if you ever pay for a good bottle of absinthe you don't ruin it with this bullshit fire ritual.

  • Agreed. I assume you're talking about Hills or something else. The fire is so much fun, but I've been reading more about the methods and I use icewater now. I do have some terrible absinthe from Luxembourg that I'll probably burn.

  • Nice Video. So, do you think there is anything "psychedelic" about absinthe, or is it just stong liquor?

  • That's a tough one. I've had absinthe called "Mata Hari" that was awesome and made me feel different than just having a cocktail. Then again, it could've been something I ate.

  • I totally forgot about red. Now I'm going to have to find some. The Absinthe in this vid is Mystique which I'm not sure is available in the U.S. The louche isn't very opaque, but it has a great fresh mint + anise flavor.

  • tnx for sharing.

it's great for their availability once again.

    I personally prefer Red Absinthe.
