Please upload this again! i would love to hear what they are saying! ......upload under different music!...... PISTOL was the greatest....not jordan not kobe not lebron!....it all started with PISTOL the greatest who ever lived!!
For those of you below who were debating back and forth....actually, Pistol Pete and his dad did not have the greatest relationship. In fact, Press Maravich (Pete's father) took on the coaching job at LSU when Pete had a full ride scholarship to another school. His dad told him that if he didn't come and play for him at LSU, then he shouldn't bother ever coming home again. His dad actually pushed him beyond what Pete was comfortable with. Either way, it didn't matter who coached him in college..
a guy who can equalize maravich style of basketball still doesn't exist in the world, and it is still a big question mark if there's a man that can play pistol's way.....he's my idol.....he didn't die, he just fade away....
Not the greatest athlete in the world, but probably the highest skilled basketball player that ever lived; he too was my hero . His College scoring record will never be broken (he averaged over 41 points per game during his college carreer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I respectfully disagree with you sir, Pete was one of the greatest athlete's in the world. He possessed other overlooked components of athletic ability: coordination, balance, agility, kinesthetic awareness, that my players often do not look to develop. They are too busy trying to train for the highest vertical or fastest 40 time. His life is a testament to all of those who CAN be rescued and redeem their 2nd chance.
bird was smarter on the court as for the record lets not forget his dad was the coach he could do what ever he liked the record will fall one day just like most of wilts to jordan and kobe
@dunan21212001 his dad was his college coach because pistol pete maravich demanded that his dad be coach if he were to attend that school...
im really pissed at this dunan kid man... like no shit his dad was coach anyone could look at a piece of paper and read that but did u put any original thought into that information that u read? the youth of our nation is falling apart.. less and less thinkers in the world everyday. ha.. i guess its my fault for expecting anyhting more out of youtube.
@th3unconscious1988 -actually who ever u r i studied quite a lot about pete since he was my favorite player for a very long time. i watched most of game tapes. less thinkers haha i guess you are then. before trying to comment how about doing research. no need for me to say anything more.
@dunan21212001 Its been a while since you posted your remark but I agree with you. Not to mention the south was still suffering for post segregation policies of Gov. Wallace. BUT lets give maravich the credit he deserves; he is ahead of his time. He's ahead of whats going on in the NBA today. Nobody has dribbled or handled the ball like pete since.
Isn't it amazing how almost all the time he makes a swish, i think it's so cool, in fact, he and Larry Bird have turned into my favorite basketball players EVER!
awesome, i saw pistol play from the start, no one has come close to him in terms of skills, he never had a great team, lou hudson was the his best team mate. luckily he did have some success later with boston.
I believe the Pistol has given me his ailities. He watches me play solitary. Of all the people in the world who go to courts and seek challenges, Pete watches me. I believe it, he sees my curiosity, relates to my uncertain sadness...and he hopes to reach me. I have never seen his testimony until this past week, and every clip I watch wells tears in my eyes. He has given me something of incredible value thru these visual memories. Not just for a game, but for application in reality. Love.
I love basketball and shine in pick-up games, but the philosophy of the Pistol has transcended to seaching for a purpose - I will entertain.. but it may not be in the same way - it will have the signature reminiscent of Pete no matter what I do. He has captivated my identity and I gladly take on his influence in the quest for more tools to use in my own performances. Bless up for not flaming my boastful posts, my intentions are to rep the love for this man.
You people that want to bash "The Pistol " can kiss my white ass . He was not only one of the greatest to ever play the beautiful game , he was a good man . When I was a kid he was my idol and I went to his camp , I learned and I can still drill at 50 years old.So blow me you haters !
I agree with you, he was the greatest to play the game when his style was frowned on by most players in the league. He never had a chance to win a ring with the crap players he played with. I am a coach for 9-10th grade girls and they love the Homework Basketball videos and were amazed at the things he could do in them. By the way, my nickname in high school was Pistol Pete and some still call me that today. REST IN PEACE PISTOL PETE.

btw jordan didn't always have a good team.. but he's truly great he wins.. highschool college and the pro's larry bird also o ya magic also lmao.. but i guess they just had a good team every year.. NO! they make the people around them better at any level
did you know how much shit this guy had to go through????? all magic did was bang women. Jordan had all the talent in the world. they didnt have to go through what pete went through. he didnt have the type of skill level they did but he had an incredibly high basketball IQ. dont take this the wrong its just that he lived a very sad life. read is biography "Pistol" and youll find out just how depressing his life was. his book brought me to tears.
he had a greater skill level than MJ or Magic. I think they would even agree that he did far more than they could. He was blazing fast and could handle and shoot at 6'6"
Are you joking? MJ didn't even make his high school varsity team until his senior year I believe. He was more of a baseball player and Magic couldn't get most college coaches to let him play PG so he wound up at Mich St. largely because the coach promised to play him @ point.
You don't have to down others to prop Pete up! You don't think Magic and MJ had high Ball IQs?? You think Pistol was doing on IQ only?? How about otherworldly talent, 6'5 or 6'6" height and great quickness!
@readmore2008 Yeah and let's not forget about the hard work that he put to develop all those skills...I mean he wasn't the only one that worked hard but, I've read one of his biographies, forever showtime, the checkered life of Pete Maravich and he practiced or played for something like 10 hours during summertime! DAMN!
by the way lion this guy is five times as good of a person you will ever be asshole. at least people know about this guy and consider him the greatest. lets see u do what he did you cocky bastard
@wuk122. His father wanted to instill fundamental basketball with the barnstorming Harlem Renaissance basketball style. Many will tell you that his father was better than Pete. He was a great player too.

he's not a winner.. he's a showman.. the game of basketball is more then an individual sport.. like they said in this vid.. in new orleans the wins were very few but their was a lot of fans.. hes not the greatest.. to be the greatest you have to win.. and pete never won a championship in highschool college or the NBA he didn't care about winning he cared about being a showman.. which is not bad but he's not a winner so he cant be the greatest of all time

wow one more year lmao by that time he was washed up and it was larry's team secondly.. pete didn't push his self to the limit like jordan gaurnteed.. he did work on his game for long hours working on fundamentals for some of it and bullshit as tricks the rest of it so what its been said by nba analyst jordan bird and magic worked the hardest
