"switching from traditional to southpaw very quickly"... it's not really true at all. the bottom half does, with a good switch kick the torso stays does not rotate. plus you left out the importance of the feet movement, standing on the ball of the foot at compact point... the skipping-like motion rather than that dead wood limp.. etc

you rotate too much man and you give away your actions too much like that. I usually do a very small switch kick so its more fluid and I also get a bit low to get that power and good grounding as well.

thankz for the vid man, i but i haf a problem, everytime i switch kick in sparring , i run the risk of twisting my ankle, and now im just scared shit to switch kick. Any help?
Could you send a video? There's no reason you should be twisting your ankle on a switch kick. I'd have to see exactly what you're doing in order to help correct the problem.
Are you on the balls of your feet when you kick? Don't be flat footed, it's harder to twist that way. Videotaping yourself is a great tool, to see your form.
well, when i switch ,im flat footed, but then i jump to the balls of my feet and then kick. sometimes when i do it fast i fall and i twist my ankle. :(
Just something I learned from my instructor before he went to Iraq. With kicking with a front leg, try bring your leg up straight instead of trying to use the rotation of the hip, and then twist right before you extend your knee for the kick. It's easier and faster, to bring the leg up straight the it is to bring it up around. Since your not using the rotation of the hip on this, its power comes from speed of you bring the leg up straight.
With the speed of your leg coming up + the snap, it can do some damage. Still it's no where near as powerful as kicking with the back leg, using the rotation of the hips, and it (for me at least) loses power as you kick higher. Still, I find it to be great for hitting the knees. Now I probably explained this whole thing wrong, but I don't have a webcam so I can't show you what I'm trying to say.
I just thought I give something back since your videos helped me quite a bit with my training.
i don't want to sound critical, nor do i wish to argue, as you could undoubtably kick my amateur ass any day, but your stance seems to leave you a bit unprotected while you kick, couldn't someone deal you a nasty overhand counter?
the reason you have no room to rotate your hip is because you arent pivoting on the toes of your rear leg. switch kicking does generate a bit morpower, obviously, because you are bringing the lead leg back, thus increasing the distance it travels, giving it more time to gain momentum. however you are sacrificing a little by telegraphing. crocop was pretty good at it!
I saw Andrei Arlovski doing a slightly different version of this in a fight with Marcio Cruz. He used in and out foot work. When he bounced forward he could jab, and when he bounced backward he moved his lead leg subtly closer to his rear which set up a lead kick. This technique probably won't generate as much power as switching your legs completely, but it's probably a little faster and will still give you some more power. I guess it depends if you want the kick to be strong or fast.
you're right, I just watched your video again. It's not muay thai. It's not even close to muay thai. You're off balance you're not turning your hip, and you don't explode up on the ball of your foot to rotate. It's looks like a poor imitation of thai boxing. Sorry, I call it how I see it.
Something that I've had a high percentage of landing in sparring sessions is just throwing some lead leg kicks to the inside of the opponents lead leg just to annoy them and then firing of a harder switch kick to the body.
Hi i am in a taekwondo academy and am training for the 2012 olypmics. i find all your videos usefull and as i used to do boxing understand many of your hand techniques which is so usefull when fighting taekwodno fighters as the all freak out when i am close and fireing punches to their body. i was wondering if you could make a video combining some good pressure combonations which i could use.
Good understanding of the technique. But, it looks like your kicks aren't muay thai quality. You seem to understand the style, but the kicks look weak for muay thai. Your heal isn't up, you don't rotate on your toes.
first off it's pronounced muay thai. secondly, it is meant to be a muay thai style kick but it is performed poorly. I can tell by your ridiculous and vulger comments that you have limited your learning to only tkd. tkd is not full contact so it can't be compared to full combat sports. You clearly know nothing about muay thai or tkd. You clearly can't identify the difference between the 2 styles of kicking. You are retarded and uneducated.
For the record, I'm a mixed martial artist. I have competed in the respective sports of MMA, Muay Thai, TKD, American Kickboxing, International rules kickboxing, no-gi submission grappling, and sport BJJ.
While these sports have rules that determine the techniques used, I no longer believe in traditional styles. It's not a Thai kick, it's not a TKD kick. It's a shin kick to the inner thigh.
Time to get over the style A trumps style B crap. A good fighter is always trumped by a better fighter.
okay you're a well rounded martial artist. But where did that kick come from? Who uses it as a regular technique in the ring? Who has been using it to win against all other forms of kicking sports? The answer is the thais. It's their kick. And it's not a traditional sport. Muay thai is open to evolution. Whatever works works. It's based on real fighting not on theory like jkd.
it does have tons of tradition, but it has evolved based on what works. Every technique they use and practice for the sport works. So, in that sense it isn't traditional martial arts because it changes. If you watch the way they trained and fought 50 years ago it is totally different from today. And I would venture to say that the kicking style is unique among kicking sports. Other s.e. asian countries don't use the same style and they're right next door.
ofcourse everyone has roundhouses Stepping through the target (about 45 degrees), elevating on the ball of the foot, and rotating through the target kicking with the shin. This is exclusive to the thai style and no one else did it until thai boxing became international. Do you disagree that this is the most powerful way to kick? I can tell you from experience that it is much stronger than the way you kick on this video. And, it will help your balance problem when you fall away from the bag.
wow, you must be a lawyer. You refuse to comment on me questions and statement. You can throw all that around, but the bottom line is the thai style roundhouse was found nowhere in the world until they started exporting the sport to different countries in the 50's. Power+Mc2 equals crap. The bottom line is your kick is not the most efficient or powerful way to kick. Watch any thai kicking and the speed and power they generate then watch your video and you will see your kicking "style" sucks
Besides, Thai style kicks actually suck for real fighting because if you miss you turn your back to your opponent. There's nothing stupider in a fight you can do than turn your back to your opponent. That's why I stick to wing tsun style kicks.
No, that's what people who watch fights but don't actually do the sport think. thai fighters do not spin around when they actually fight. do your research before you make a bold statement about something you don't know.
Are you talking about yourself again Boxterwelby? I've had over 100 street fights. I know what I'm talking about. Thai style kicking is absolute garbage on the streets. Do my reseacrh? Why don't you do your own research before saying something stupid like only the thais used roundhouse kicks until 1950.
I know you're lying because if you knew anything about thai boxing you would know the fighters don't spin all the way around when they kick in competitions. Oh, and you've got to bring up 100 street fights. hahahahahah I don't even know where to start with that. Are you beating up people at the gay bar again? hahaha You are stupid and uneducated. Find someone who isn't smart enough to catch your bullshit lies. Lastly, you're 37 years old and you're playing keyboard warrior? Had sex lately?
What does street fighting have to do with knowing thai style roundkicks? You totally made up some shit to give your self credibility. Funny street fighting has nothing to do with boxing in the ring so, you're retarded and still have no credibility. You like bruce lee don't you!
Why do I bring up street fighting??? Because unlike you, I actually have real fighting experience. You on the other hand, have experience making gay youtube comments about guys that you and your little dogs couldn't even touch in the ring. Credibility??? Where's yours tough guy???
By the way, if you don't like Sigung Bruce Lee, then you are the retarded one.
You're retarded. Good luck with that bullshit. Thai fighters don't spin all the way around when they kick. Very rarely and only when they know they're out of range. You are talking shit about silk shorts, I don't even know what you're saying. You need to learn how to debate dude. What does thai boxing shorts have to do with being gay? Jeet kun do all the way dude (sarcasm). Lastly, we're talking about sport fighting and you bring up some crazy illigitimate 100 street fights.
Um, yeah, Thai boxers DO spin all the way around when they don't connect with a Thai kick. Try at least watching the sport before you talk about it genius.
As for the gay talk, dude, you brought that up. What you do with your boyfriend in the privacy of your own home is none of my business.
And yeah, count 'em: 100 street fights compared to your ZERO fights of any kind. Who's the authority here? Not you dog man.
I don't know any real fighters that use their illegal street fights as a way to justify their skills. Sounds like you're an idiot who has no real fight experience. I do have ring experience in boxing and muay thai, but you're right I've never been in a street fight. So I guess in illegal gay bar brawls you have me beat. In all serioiusness you link me to a video with real thai fighters in the ring and show me them spinning around when they kick.
once again stupid, provide me with a link of real thai fighters in a ring spinning around when they miss. It is very, very rare. They don't do back kicks, they rarely do spinning elbows or back fists. And your credibility and expertise is based on 100 illigitimate street fights. Let me see some film of you training and I will gladly send you some of mine. I don't make a habbit are starting off conversations telling people about my 100 illegal fights.
still waiting for your post of spinning kicks from thai boxers. and there is no difference between an illegal and legal street fight stupid!!!!!! It's wrong and has nothing to do with the sport. That's how I know you don't have any experience. Real fighters don't talk about beating people up in the street. They talk about real fighters that they defeated in the ring with equal experience and equal weight opponents.
Thai boxers ALWAYS spin around when they miss a round kick. ALWAYS. Haven't you ever seen a muay thai fight???
And why do you feel it's necessary to bring up your fixation with gay sex? This isn't an argument about gay sex. I know you like sports with shirtless men in silk shorts grabbing each other, but COME ON DUDE!!! At least try to stay on topic. By the way, look in the mirror, internet tough guy.
and also, the inside leg kick is hardly ever a switch, that is completely illogical in a fight. it is either a skipping in type of footwork with the support leg, or a step in which is the power version. Its the samething with an outside lead low kick to the rear leg. Your base is supposed to lower when you throw a low kick, therefore switching is impractical and can get you KOed. GOD i need to send some instructionals your way, either that or slap the shit out of whoever is teaching you this.
Tiburn, I appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment on one of my videos.
That being said, please DO come over to Salt Lake City, Utah some time and attempt to "slap the shit out of" and/or "KO" myself or any of my trainers. I could use the workout and the cheap laughs would be good too.
Great reply to tibun dude i like your instruction videos. i hate all the people that think MT kicks better than TKD that is false they may do everything else better but they do NOT kick better
christ your switchkick is something of horror, the switching movement is overemphasized, you are doing some funky amateurish karate chop shin with your hands. You know what? put your hands to use and work on your hand switching motion when you kick instead of making a knifehand like a doofus. Your switch would get you caught with a teep kick to the hip or abdomen pretty fucking quickly. If you watch how top Thais switch, it is so smooth and quick that it is almost not apparent, please stop.
a your not a master STFU b mauy thai isnt the best kicking style. period the end this is how TKD practitioners switch and tkd IS the best kicking style because its ALL they do so next time you have some "advice" go fuck yourself
my muai thai trainers says thats extremely important to stand straight not like showed in 0:58 - he says its because u can get round kicks directly to your kidneys
Thats why your elbows should be down and ready to cover. Being upright is useful in muay because it brings more force into the kicks, especially round kick. But in fighting you should generally be slightly more crouched than what a muay thai kick stance will afford.
awesome videos. i started muy thai some months back and watching your clips help out a lot when im just training at home with striking and kicking. do u have like dvds or you only have these clips.
we could use an instructor divoted like in aruba (H) BLESS,now i do have a question,.
i've been training for about 6 months or so
and are gettin good at it,and im a right hand stander...so would it be good if i change my position to put my strong arm at front for my jabs, for more damage to the opponent ?? please email me if u can the answer mr_cueto90@htmail,com..thanks again!
If you have an opening to use this attack, then yes. If you're fighting a guy with a weapon, you may want to change your tactics quite a bit, however.
it's just a group of guy's my age(13-16 years old) they won't have a weapon i think, but now i'm thinking, it's a group of 4 or 5 man, can is use it to attack them just piece after piece(i'm dutch, srry for bad english)
You're going to fight 4 or 5 guys by yourself all at once? Unlike the movies, multiple opponents in street fights will all attack simultaneously, and most likely several of them will pin you down while the rest beat you to death.
I don't mean to sound discouraging, but fighting just one guy is hard enough. If you have the option to avoid multiple opponents who are out to get you, by all means, avoid them.
I just want to make a good beginning, so they are a little bit damaged when they are going to fight me, then i've got maybe more chance, and they won't fight me to death, only hit me till i've got some blue spots, or a broken finger or something like that..and they will follow me wherever I go, so I can't avoid them.. I'm just looking for a good technique to protect myself zo i wouldn't get hurt very much.. i've seen lots of video's from you now and i hope they will help me when i need them. bye
I was just worried that you'd arranged to fight a group of guys by yourself for some reason.
If you find yourself attacked by multiple opponents, you have to move quickly, very quickly. If you are unarmed, you can't afford to make any mistakes. Most importantly, don't let them surround you, and keep your distance as much as possible.
Also, in a self defense situation, if you have an opening for an inner thigh kick, you might as well kick the groin while you're at it.
moving quickly isn't a big problem, i've got a fast "reaction time" or however to say it, and do you have a video from a technique too use by more then 1 opponents?I don't know or someone ever find out some, but something like a jump/kick to damage 2 or 3 man in one time? srry but I don't know anything about martial arts, bye
Well, if you're good at flying kicks, there are a few techniques you can use to hit 2 people at once. I can't say they're very practical, but then again, empty handed fighting against multiple opponents isn't very practical to begin with. I could show you some of the aerial techniques I used to drill for taekwondo. I'll have to think about this.
got all emotional and forgot to thank for a great video!
Its great because AFAIK many think that the switching should be done as short and fast as possible, not really switching the stance. But i too practiced like this even when told not to. After seeing someone perform it this well, i got the confidence to really work on this technique.
f*ing always someone starts blabbing about self defense, get a f*ing life! its so f*ing annoying someone has to ALWAYS talk about it, trying to look like some smart f*ck. FYI: you really dont show any wits but look like a retard who does not know any respect for contact sports, as you are.
Mr. balletman your videos are top notch. The quality of technique and presentation is among the best out there. Also you have really used this stuff in the ring, but like you have previously stated there is a big difference between Self Defense and MMA.
Awesome! I never thought of it this way. I guess this would help me a lot, since my base in martial arts comes from Taekwondo. It would certainly help my flow, to say the least.
Switch kicks are great for setting stuff up in TKD as well. While under WTF and ITF rules, you can't kick the legs, you can still use it in succession with other strikes and fakes to land solid kicks to the body.
hey thanks, it did help quite a bit... I guess the guy that showed me hwo was a bit confusing, he would exokain it as " use youe left foot as a launch pad to switch" It was confusing me to, he would bring his foot up as if he was going to step foward but i think.. hed put it back in its origional place.. then switch.. making that whole launch thing.. pointless... Maybe youd have to see it
Alright. Every fighter is different. I'm tired of seeing people think they know everything. If you think you know the best way, then make a video, dont insult someone completly just because they do it differently.

How's your standing round kick with your left leg? (without the switching part)
balletman 3 years ago
Just something I learned from my instructor before he went to Iraq. With kicking with a front leg, try bring your leg up straight instead of trying to use the rotation of the hip, and then twist right before you extend your knee for the kick. It's easier and faster, to bring the leg up straight the it is to bring it up around. Since your not using the rotation of the hip on this, its power comes from speed of you bring the leg up straight.
-continued
Tommy9834 3 years ago
With the speed of your leg coming up + the snap, it can do some damage. Still it's no where near as powerful as kicking with the back leg, using the rotation of the hips, and it (for me at least) loses power as you kick higher. Still, I find it to be great for hitting the knees. Now I probably explained this whole thing wrong, but I don't have a webcam so I can't show you what I'm trying to say.
I just thought I give something back since your videos helped me quite a bit with my training.
Tommy9834 3 years ago
i don't want to sound critical, nor do i wish to argue, as you could undoubtably kick my amateur ass any day, but your stance seems to leave you a bit unprotected while you kick, couldn't someone deal you a nasty overhand counter?
fretfrat 3 years ago
the reason you have no room to rotate your hip is because you arent pivoting on the toes of your rear leg. switch kicking does generate a bit morpower, obviously, because you are bringing the lead leg back, thus increasing the distance it travels, giving it more time to gain momentum. however you are sacrificing a little by telegraphing. crocop was pretty good at it!
yamaha893 3 years ago
I saw Andrei Arlovski doing a slightly different version of this in a fight with Marcio Cruz. He used in and out foot work. When he bounced forward he could jab, and when he bounced backward he moved his lead leg subtly closer to his rear which set up a lead kick. This technique probably won't generate as much power as switching your legs completely, but it's probably a little faster and will still give you some more power. I guess it depends if you want the kick to be strong or fast.
jimb024 3 years ago
lmao nice way to explain it but your not high enough on your toe and dont protect your face or swing your amr back for more power lol

Awesome. I would also pay to see these two go at it in real life. We could call it "The Ultimate Youtube Keyboard Warrior Championships"
balletman 3 years ago
you're right, I just watched your video again. It's not muay thai. It's not even close to muay thai. You're off balance you're not turning your hip, and you don't explode up on the ball of your foot to rotate. It's looks like a poor imitation of thai boxing. Sorry, I call it how I see it.

Your apartment is way too small. Sometimes when you kick the bag in your other videos, the thing's steel frame tips over. :P
Great video, btw.

Something that I've had a high percentage of landing in sparring sessions is just throwing some lead leg kicks to the inside of the opponents lead leg just to annoy them and then firing of a harder switch kick to the body.
Good vid.

Hi i am in a taekwondo academy and am training for the 2012 olypmics. i find all your videos usefull and as i used to do boxing understand many of your hand techniques which is so usefull when fighting taekwodno fighters as the all freak out when i am close and fireing punches to their body. i was wondering if you could make a video combining some good pressure combonations which i could use.
good video
love it

you're great with breaking down the techniques. great video, it's probably you're best one.

Thanks. This is probably my highest percentage stand-up technique.
balletman 3 years ago
Good understanding of the technique. But, it looks like your kicks aren't muay thai quality. You seem to understand the style, but the kicks look weak for muay thai. Your heal isn't up, you don't rotate on your toes.
boxsterwelby 3 years ago
who says he going for May Thai hes doing tkd kicks. i do hope you dont think MT is the end all best kicking style do you?
sigprodigy 3 years ago
first off it's pronounced muay thai. secondly, it is meant to be a muay thai style kick but it is performed poorly. I can tell by your ridiculous and vulger comments that you have limited your learning to only tkd. tkd is not full contact so it can't be compared to full combat sports. You clearly know nothing about muay thai or tkd. You clearly can't identify the difference between the 2 styles of kicking. You are retarded and uneducated.
boxsterwelby 3 years ago
For the record, I'm a mixed martial artist. I have competed in the respective sports of MMA, Muay Thai, TKD, American Kickboxing, International rules kickboxing, no-gi submission grappling, and sport BJJ.
While these sports have rules that determine the techniques used, I no longer believe in traditional styles. It's not a Thai kick, it's not a TKD kick. It's a shin kick to the inner thigh.
Time to get over the style A trumps style B crap. A good fighter is always trumped by a better fighter.
balletman 3 years ago
okay you're a well rounded martial artist. But where did that kick come from? Who uses it as a regular technique in the ring? Who has been using it to win against all other forms of kicking sports? The answer is the thais. It's their kick. And it's not a traditional sport. Muay thai is open to evolution. Whatever works works. It's based on real fighting not on theory like jkd.
boxsterwelby 3 years ago
There are over 400 "styles" of martial arts on the planet that all use the roundhouse kick.
There are only so many ways the human body is capable of moving, and this is one of them.
Again, don't get so fixated on styles.
And for the record, Muay Thai is steeped in centuries of tradition.
balletman 3 years ago
it does have tons of tradition, but it has evolved based on what works. Every technique they use and practice for the sport works. So, in that sense it isn't traditional martial arts because it changes. If you watch the way they trained and fought 50 years ago it is totally different from today. And I would venture to say that the kicking style is unique among kicking sports. Other s.e. asian countries don't use the same style and they're right next door.
boxsterwelby 3 years ago
Other south east Asian martial arts don't use roundhouse kicks?
With a few notable exceptions in the striking arts, the round kick is universal.
balletman 3 years ago
ofcourse everyone has roundhouses Stepping through the target (about 45 degrees), elevating on the ball of the foot, and rotating through the target kicking with the shin. This is exclusive to the thai style and no one else did it until thai boxing became international. Do you disagree that this is the most powerful way to kick? I can tell you from experience that it is much stronger than the way you kick on this video. And, it will help your balance problem when you fall away from the bag.
boxsterwelby 3 years ago
Still beating a dead horse, huh?
Power = amount of work (energy transference) done in a given amount of time. Therefore the most powerful kicks are:
1 Heel stomp to a downed opponent
2 Straight knee while pulling the target into the knee.
3 Turning back kick
4 Side kick with forward step
5 Roundhouse kick
Yeah, I for one disagree with your statement based on scientific fact.
sonoambulare 3 years ago
wow, you must be a lawyer. Watch any thai kicking and the speed and power they generate then watch your video and you will see your kicking "style" sucks
boxsterwelby 3 years ago
You don't even know me!!! You've never even seen my kicking moron. Here, let me use your logic for a second:
Boxterwelby, your kicks suck because the Chinese came up with the art of chin'na a thousand years before the Japanese invented jujutsu.
See how retarded that sounds?
I bet even wimpy balletman could beat your ass down in a fight using nothing but his gay-ass kick from the video. And that's saying a lot.
Yeah, I watched your retarded dog videos. Stop pretending to be a Thai boxer!!!
sonoambulare 3 years ago
Besides, Thai style kicks actually suck for real fighting because if you miss you turn your back to your opponent. There's nothing stupider in a fight you can do than turn your back to your opponent. That's why I stick to wing tsun style kicks.
sonoambulare 3 years ago
No, that's what people who watch fights but don't actually do the sport think. thai fighters do not spin around when they actually fight. do your research before you make a bold statement about something you don't know.
boxsterwelby 3 years ago
Are you talking about yourself again Boxterwelby? I've had over 100 street fights. I know what I'm talking about. Thai style kicking is absolute garbage on the streets. Do my reseacrh? Why don't you do your own research before saying something stupid like only the thais used roundhouse kicks until 1950.
sonoambulare 3 years ago
I know you're lying because if you knew anything about thai boxing you would know the fighters don't spin all the way around when they kick in competitions. Oh, and you've got to bring up 100 street fights. hahahahahah I don't even know where to start with that. Are you beating up people at the gay bar again? hahaha You are stupid and uneducated. Find someone who isn't smart enough to catch your bullshit lies. Lastly, you're 37 years old and you're playing keyboard warrior? Had sex lately?
boxsterwelby 3 years ago
What does street fighting have to do with knowing thai style roundkicks? You totally made up some shit to give your self credibility. Funny street fighting has nothing to do with boxing in the ring so, you're retarded and still have no credibility. You like bruce lee don't you!
boxsterwelby 3 years ago
Why do I bring up street fighting??? Because unlike you, I actually have real fighting experience. You on the other hand, have experience making gay youtube comments about guys that you and your little dogs couldn't even touch in the ring. Credibility??? Where's yours tough guy???
By the way, if you don't like Sigung Bruce Lee, then you are the retarded one.
sonoambulare 3 years ago
You're retarded. Good luck with that bullshit. Thai fighters don't spin all the way around when they kick. Very rarely and only when they know they're out of range. You are talking shit about silk shorts, I don't even know what you're saying. You need to learn how to debate dude. What does thai boxing shorts have to do with being gay? Jeet kun do all the way dude (sarcasm). Lastly, we're talking about sport fighting and you bring up some crazy illigitimate 100 street fights.
boxsterwelby 3 years ago
Um, yeah, Thai boxers DO spin all the way around when they don't connect with a Thai kick. Try at least watching the sport before you talk about it genius.
As for the gay talk, dude, you brought that up. What you do with your boyfriend in the privacy of your own home is none of my business.
And yeah, count 'em: 100 street fights compared to your ZERO fights of any kind. Who's the authority here? Not you dog man.
sonoambulare 3 years ago
I don't know any real fighters that use their illegal street fights as a way to justify their skills. Sounds like you're an idiot who has no real fight experience. I do have ring experience in boxing and muay thai, but you're right I've never been in a street fight. So I guess in illegal gay bar brawls you have me beat. In all serioiusness you link me to a video with real thai fighters in the ring and show me them spinning around when they kick.
boxsterwelby 3 years ago
You have experience checking your comments folder on youtube 24/7.
This was fun, but I've got stuff to do.
P.S. Do a youtube search on "muay thai" and you will find 200,000 videos of guys spinning around while they kick.
sonoambulare 3 years ago
once again stupid, provide me with a link of real thai fighters in a ring spinning around when they miss. It is very, very rare. They don't do back kicks, they rarely do spinning elbows or back fists. And your credibility and expertise is based on 100 illigitimate street fights. Let me see some film of you training and I will gladly send you some of mine. I don't make a habbit are starting off conversations telling people about my 100 illegal fights.
boxsterwelby 3 years ago
No, you make it a habit starting of conversations with a load of crap coming out of your mouth.
FYI, you can't post links in youtube comments genius.
And since you bring it up, yeah Thai boxers do all kinds of other spinning techniques all the time too. Especially back fists.
What's the difference between an illegitimate street fight and a legitimate street fight?
By the way, we both know you don't even train.
sonoambulare 3 years ago
still waiting for your post of spinning kicks from thai boxers. and there is no difference between an illegal and legal street fight stupid!!!!!! It's wrong and has nothing to do with the sport. That's how I know you don't have any experience. Real fighters don't talk about beating people up in the street. They talk about real fighters that they defeated in the ring with equal experience and equal weight opponents.
boxsterwelby 3 years ago
Thanks for boosting my ratings with this extremely important argument, both of you. By all means, keep it up.
balletman 3 years ago
Thai boxers ALWAYS spin around when they miss a round kick. ALWAYS. Haven't you ever seen a muay thai fight???
And why do you feel it's necessary to bring up your fixation with gay sex? This isn't an argument about gay sex. I know you like sports with shirtless men in silk shorts grabbing each other, but COME ON DUDE!!! At least try to stay on topic. By the way, look in the mirror, internet tough guy.
sonoambulare 3 years ago
and also, the inside leg kick is hardly ever a switch, that is completely illogical in a fight. it is either a skipping in type of footwork with the support leg, or a step in which is the power version. Its the samething with an outside lead low kick to the rear leg. Your base is supposed to lower when you throw a low kick, therefore switching is impractical and can get you KOed. GOD i need to send some instructionals your way, either that or slap the shit out of whoever is teaching you this.
Tibun 3 years ago
Tiburn, I appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment on one of my videos.
That being said, please DO come over to Salt Lake City, Utah some time and attempt to "slap the shit out of" and/or "KO" myself or any of my trainers. I could use the workout and the cheap laughs would be good too.
balletman 3 years ago
Great reply to tibun dude i like your instruction videos. i hate all the people that think MT kicks better than TKD that is false they may do everything else better but they do NOT kick better

Then STFU and give us YOUR instruction video..You must have low self-esteem criticizing others so you can feel good..
DojiSan 3 years ago
christ your switchkick is something of horror, the switching movement is overemphasized, you are doing some funky amateurish karate chop shin with your hands.
Tibun 3 years ago
a your not a master STFU b mauy thai isnt the best kicking style. period the end this is how TKD practitioners switch and tkd IS the best kicking style because its ALL they do so next time you have some "advice" go fuck yourself
sigprodigy 3 years ago
Dude, you could probably own me in a fight... but... your stance looks kinda.. weird.. you should lower your elbows and place them on your side.

my muai thai trainers says thats extremely important to stand straight not like showed in 0:58 - he says its because u can get round kicks directly to your kidneys
naydah 3 years ago
Thats why your elbows should be down and ready to cover. Being upright is useful in muay because it brings more force into the kicks, especially round kick. But in fighting you should generally be slightly more crouched than what a muay thai kick stance will afford.
TruthWielder 3 years ago 2
its impossible to cover Ur kidneys with elbows man - wtf are you talking - just stand a bit straight

poepje12345 4 years ago
If you have an opening to use this attack, then yes. If you're fighting a guy with a weapon, you may want to change your tactics quite a bit, however.
balletman 4 years ago
it's just a group of guy's my age(13-16 years old) they won't have a weapon i think, but now i'm thinking, it's a group of 4 or 5 man, can is use it to attack them just piece after piece(i'm dutch, srry for bad english)
bye,
emile
poepje12345 4 years ago
You're going to fight 4 or 5 guys by yourself all at once? Unlike the movies, multiple opponents in street fights will all attack simultaneously, and most likely several of them will pin you down while the rest beat you to death.
I don't mean to sound discouraging, but fighting just one guy is hard enough. If you have the option to avoid multiple opponents who are out to get you, by all means, avoid them.
balletman 4 years ago
I just want to make a good beginning, so they are a little bit damaged when they are going to fight me, then i've got maybe more chance, and they won't fight me to death, only hit me till i've got some blue spots, or a broken finger or something like that..and they will follow me wherever I go, so I can't avoid them.. I'm just looking for a good technique to protect myself zo i wouldn't get hurt very much.. i've seen lots of video's from you now and i hope they will help me when i need them. bye
poepje12345 4 years ago
I was just worried that you'd arranged to fight a group of guys by yourself for some reason.
If you find yourself attacked by multiple opponents, you have to move quickly, very quickly. If you are unarmed, you can't afford to make any mistakes. Most importantly, don't let them surround you, and keep your distance as much as possible.
Also, in a self defense situation, if you have an opening for an inner thigh kick, you might as well kick the groin while you're at it.
balletman 4 years ago
moving quickly isn't a big problem, i've got a fast "reaction time" or however to say it, and do you have a video from a technique too use by more then 1 opponents?I don't know or someone ever find out some, but something like a jump/kick to damage 2 or 3 man in one time? srry but I don't know anything about martial arts, bye
emile
poepje12345 4 years ago

Switch kicks are great for setting stuff up in TKD as well. While under WTF and ITF rules, you can't kick the legs, you can still use it in succession with other strikes and fakes to land solid kicks to the body.
balletman 4 years ago
hey thanks, it did help quite a bit...
