  • I dont like how i have to sacrafice my Bishop for this defense

  • At 2.08 the move 10.Bd3 looks like a blunder as "d4" pawn is hanging.

  • I like commentary and analysis, but I guess this is good if you just want to see a few MAIN lines real quick

  • not the most interesting video... I find opinon and commentary to quite helpful most of time. You just plugged in all the mainline stuff and played it out.

What lines do YOU like to play?

    What lines to avoid?

Any famous games with this variation.

This is intended as constructive critisism. Thanks for the video!

  • 2:21- 3...dxc4 is not the best line for black. After that, white plays 4. d5 Ne5 5. f4 and white is establishing a broad pawn center while the black knight gets chased around the board with loss of time. Instead of 3. Nc3 dxc4, black should instead try 3...Nf6 and if 4. cxd5 or 4. Nxd5, black is fine. Also, if after 3...Nf6 4. Nf3 then 4...dxc4 is alright because the knight can't get chased around as much because white's knight on f3 blocks the f-pawn. Check out my videos on the Chigorin Defense

  • FYI, 3...cxd4 is the main book move and the move suggested by GM Alexander Morozevich (2750 ELO) in his book on the Chigorin defense.
