  • Wooah, lionel larry waz in dis race?? wat was he a freshman in this race?

  • its a shame that the X man xavier carter kept on getting injured. one of the fastest 200m runners ever!

  • This announcer mispronounces "Xavier" every time he says it. Hard to believe they even let him announce. Xavier is pronounced "Zavier", not "eggszavier". You don't say the X; it's just a Z. Like Xylophone is just pronounced "Zylophone".

  • i dont know why they talk. Ato and Carol r so damn annoying.

  • well my coach said its just probably how he feels comfortable. you know how Jeremy adjust his necklace and glasses before he runs its just how he gets in the zone

  • Question for Everyone:

HOW and WHY does Xavier Carter run with chewing gum in his mouth while competing in a race as tough as the 400 meters?!?!

How can this possibly help him?

As a coach and former NCAA athlete, I've never heard of such a thing. Experienced coaches, please comment...

  • hard work.?

  • @Visionary0001 relaxing maybe?

  • @fightjunge24 Brotha, thank you for your comment, but I later got the correct answer from Ron Allice (head track coach for USC) who was there. Xavier Carter did NOT run the race with chewing gum in his mouth. Immediately after the race, he chews Gatorade gum, because the tart, lemon taste causes his mouth to produce saliva quickly, so he doesn't have "dry mouth" after breathing heavily from running an all-out 400 race.

This way, he can talk and conduct interviews easier.

  • @Visionary0001 hmm but in the 400m it had actually been pretty dumb to run with a chewing. but i think in the 100 or 60 i could be usefull because its proven that chewing gum can get u relaxin. i just wrote that answer because ive read about that and that it is used in soem sports

  • Why do they care that he ran a 100m meter earlier? I mean, he is obviously fast, but it's not like you get tired running 100m meters. It actually just gets me pumped up.

  • just because he was the first one to do it..

  • Yeah, I know that, but by telling you the time length in between the events, they are clearly trying to make the point that he is still tired from the 100m.

  • can you run a 10.09? i'm sure it takes more energy for someone as big as him to run a 10.09. if you put in a 100% effort in the 100 it should make you a bit tired.

  • It may be that it's somewhat difficult for someone large to run a 100m fast, but this guy clearly has good endurance as he also won the 400m. I bet he wasn't even breathing hard 2 minutes after the 100m.

  • that's true. he clearly does have good endurance. but it's just the fact that he's so good in both events which is more amazing than the time difference. i mean, if it were easy then he wouldnt be the first one to ever do it.

  • it doesn't wind you like a 400m, but it is very demanding on your nervous system, and can be very difficult to come back from. Plus remember there were rounds.

  • @jonesy77777 I forgot about the rounds portion of NCs. That makes this feat even more amazing... especially given he had to run the rounds well as he had the fastest lane in the finals!

  • he didn't run all out at the beginning

  • yo pee-wee its blake keep it up cuz

  • lol i know you gotta be from the 321 if you know him as pee wee

  • helluva sprinter though whether u like him personally or not?

  • 20F here alone and bored and horny C

  • huh?

  • Interesting that he has not produced anything sensational since 2006. Has he been seriously injured?

  • yeah U R absolutely right

  • GREAT ATHLETE....RAW TALENT!

  • He's such a fagot! UGH! i just don't know how a scum bag like him could be so famous!

  • minhas bolas coceira

  • PEE WEE! HEY BABY! I have no idea if you will ever read this, but you are so awesome! This is Hannah's mom and I just want you to know I am so proud of you, sweetheart!

  • hes such a joker hes like yep just diiiidd felt i had to take dis one too

  • he's one of the rare talented people, idk anyone who can run the 1,2, and 400 at a world-class level..

  • @Gyamfi4 well im not sure if he runs the 100 at world class level, but certainly 200 and 400m.

  • @rcaddict72 10.09 isn't world class speed? I am fairly confident there are many world class 100m sprinters who have not ran 10.09

  • The commentary is very good, Ato Bolden and (sorry, the lady's name escapes me) also did a very good job on the commentary at world's this year.

  • the next micheal johnson in my book

  • it's official... this guy is a freak.

  • he dominated at that championships, he won 100, 200, 400 4x100, and 4x400m!!! wow. he is the futures of american sprinting.

  • are you sure he won the 200?
