    Google “Gizmag and PianoMaestro”

  • OH GOD....COULD YOU MAKE IT LESS BORING PLEASE ???

    I really apreciate it..thanks :o))

I play on a digi piano with drum patterns on it...but cant find anything close to your drums

  • It sounds like "Chameleon".. Very funky

  • This is #1.

    Up it.

  • very very helpful

  • Hey all, this is Jonathon from the video. If you like these tutorials, I'm beginning to put my new ones up on my own channel. Just click my name (groovewindow) and sub, if you're interested. Otherwise, carry on!

@nimm2999 I believe the tempo is 110 bpm for this tune...

  • may i ask, what is your metronome set to?

  • Errrr .... why is there text of his script overlaid on the entire video?

How can I see what he's doing with that?

(It's the same on his other videos too!).

    Or am I missing something?

  • @UTDavidT

thats the closed caption for the video, just press the cc button and it dissapears...

  • The sound is so formiliar to me....

I think it is from a song or it seems to be from a song I already knew.

  • @Neon241 How about Herbie Hancocks Chameleon? reminds me of that song...

  • @GuitarPietah Right, thx, darklexa told me so... :D

  • coming up next we're gonna add a little bit of right hand stuff to make it even FUNKIER !! mhmmmm That's what she said !

  • @Raxmole hahahah

  • I'm supposed to learn how to play 'FUNK' from one of the most vanilla white guys I've ever seen on You Tube? Ok, I need to see more of his videos before I can criticize, but this one was kinda lame...

  • @PhotosByHamza You're letting your racism be a block to your improvement as a musician? What's the benefit of that?

  • @totallyfrozen : Racism? You're kidding me right? It's not Racism it's prejudice and stereotyping. If you're going to criticize me, do it correctly please. It is a known fact that 'White People' are not as funky as 'Black People'. I'm neither, I'm brown so I can go either way...

Had you noticed, I wrote a disclaimer because I hadn't seen any of his other videos but no, you want to beat down the guy who's keeping the 'White Man' down... LMAO!

Thanks for the laugh! I needed it!

  • @PhotosByHamza "I need to see more of his videos before I criticize" AFTER you critcize is NOT a disclaimer. Yes, it's racism (i.e. prejudice and stereotyping based on race). I don't care if you're "brown" or not. I'm Latino and I still think it was unnecessary racism. The idea that "whites aren't as funky as blacks" is ignorant as well. Go learn who Bob Babbitt is and then go think about that funkiness factor again. In any case, I can't take you seriously; it's obvious you were trolling.

  • @PhotosByHamza stereotyping people based on their race is called Racism.

  • I LIKE.....THANKS...TEACHER....

  • this sucks and so does everything else expert village posts. So do us all a favor and stop posting this crap. I dont know if you noticed that they only post about 2 min of info so you have to visit 20 sites to get the whole thing. BOYCOTT EXPERT VILLAGE!

  • This guy is a complete idiot.... He shows the finally video of putting all the parts together, and I thought it sounded great. I'm like; "I have to learn this!!" So I see that in his last video, it says things like "Learn in Part 1/2/3/4.... Ect." Thing is... I've searched through all of his videos, and i can't fucking find which one starts it.... He doesn't have them labelled in parts. Therefore he is an idiot.

  • @whyisitunable Final* Even.

  • @whyisitunable lol dick much?

  • @whyisitunable or maybe you're an idiot for not thinking logically that the videos would start with the him showing u the left hand then the right hand then put them all together and then showing how you can add variation to the right hand while playing the left hand bass..

idiot expecting everything to be spoon fed to him instead of using your brain..

  • This guy is soooooo annoying.. I'd seriously slap him, if he was teaching me

  • IIs it Kameleon :D ??

  • hey what does the C mean at the beginning next to bass clef ?

  • @realjuvelive it means common time signature (usually 4/4 time) :)

  • @avondale31 and 2/4 i think ? thank you !

  • @realjuvelive yes that too :) and no problem!

  • great! big thanks from france, for all ( and for the subtitles!! )

  • this was very helpfull, thanks!

  • man, don't academicize the FUNK. you gotta feel the fonk, man. STOP. and that's not the real lines for Chameleon. not at all.

  • @bftiger75 i dont think hes feelin it atall in this video...

  • @bftiger75

probably werent allowed to use actual chameleon so he transcribed it to other chords

  • oh my god, that was sweet of you to teach us! thanks

  • Mmm... It'd be better as a guide to playing Chameleon funkily. For a funk groove lesson come up with something funky and at least a little original.

Not a bad intro though. Nice and clean, probably helpful to younger players.

  • You could have said it's Chameleon...

  • hey thanks for that down beat emphasis

  • lol he sounds a little like professor frink from the simpsons

  • Lol, you're kinda right..

  • @CrispyXR dude....you are my hero

  • @CrispyXR

hahah yeah plus he is having americans fav. that pussybrush facial hair. really peeps from the us think this is cool? its one of the biggest turn off access on a man. yyaakk

  • @CrispyXR We're going to play a funk groove GLAVIN!

  • @CrispyXR

and looks like him a lil bit

  • @CrispyXR but not in Germany :D

  • hey men, this is grate, how can I get the complete video.

    I am from mexico.

  • which notes exactly were the "ghosted/ing notes" in the demonstration? do you mean grace notes? thanks julie

  • oh yeah funk

  • What program did you use to get the staff and notes onscreen?

  • How do I find all the lessons in order?

  • i realized that after you listen to the first one (lead in melody line for funk), the window will get refreshed itself and it continues to the next one.

  • does not sound like chameleon at all

  • Yes it does.

  • good job, chek out Stan Sullivan bass lines this dude is Cold

  • great bass line...similar to that of chameleon by herbie

  • 1.16-1.20

  • funny dude

  • its simply chord I - IV, dosen't have to originate from a standard. this guy is still brilliant though :)

  • inspired by herbie hancock's chameleon

  • you are amazing. you remind me of a great teacher I had years ago.

  • To me funk is so hard to write down, you sort of just have to feel it. The faster version he plays at the end helps way more than going slow.

  • Hi guys. You've probably noticed the order and titles of this video series is a bit confusing and screwed up on youtube. so i've numbered and ordered them , and added links to the backing track , you can find it here:

    darkcognitive (dot) com

There's also other video lessons on there as well so feel free to signup and rate / comment.

  • Thanks cognitive! BTW, what happens when you put a link in the comment?

  • This is not "Chameleon", try listening to it properly!

  • to all the haters go to a real piano forum bitches but you won't

  • THIS HELPED ME SOOO MUCH THANK YOU!!!

  • i could hear that funky slapping electric bass as he was playing! :D

  • its not here cause you going to get impressd

some ones want to learn it but i don't think your going to learn to play funk here, you got to play much more and just try to do own stuff

  • Not that impressive - that is "chameleon" ... sigh.....

  • Listen to it properly. It is not chameleon

  • Seems close enough to comment on the lack of originality. This piece and "Chameleon" have the same degree of similarity as "Under Pressure" and "Ice Ice Baby"

  • herbie hancocks "chameleon" in different key ?

    sweet!

  • that isn't chameleon! listen to the last two notes their obviously not the same as chameleon.

  • Not Quite but simillar

  • It's chromatic in the beginning, but that's the same with many funk-basslines...

  • Johnathan are you left handed naturally ? or ambidexterious?

  • thats a good bass line, nice dude

  • lmfao at his voice

  • haha um this is the bass line to herbie hancock's chameleon.

  • Hi Jonathan, tu trabajo me inspira en el sendero. He practicado lo que expones y siento avances notorios en mi manera de tocar-

Por ley, tu generosidad será recompensada.

    Saludos desde Colombia!!!!!

  • JUSTICE

  • I'm sorry, but altough the groove is great the piano sounds awful! those bass notes are just a horrible tone and it really distracts from the rest of the piece. That aside, the lesson is quite comprehensible.

  • johnathan, you are amazing. you remind me of a great teacher I had years ago. Never found anyone as good until now. Would love for you to send me pdf for your lessons

  • good

  • He's so cute! :)

  • i think its his charming beady little eyes...

  • Hehehe! Indeed. :)

  • some of the best tutorials i've seen. Love not only the notes, but the angle of the camera so you can see everything, the sheet music on top, and the big picture at the end. You rock! thanks!

  • Thanks a lot for this lessons!!! i'm A French guitarist and I realy like the way how you play. I just begin the piano and it's a pleasure to learn that kind of amazings funky stuffs. I hope you'll continue soon!!!!

  • Dr4 -- good idea. I'll put future series into other keys. By the way -- if anybody wants the music for this series, I have a PDF. Just message me...

  • fantastic lessons, Chilkari!! thank you.

Could you send me the pdf file for the music please? thanks again

  • Instead of always showing your tutorials in a base key of C, why don't you try other keys that will make the fingering easier

  • u do good explanations but the initial demo of the the bass line was useless. and left me confused. U need the drums playin with it not just a click

  • That's for people who want to start practising. if he didnt show slow, nobody would catch it.

  • I find the drums distracting concentrating on timing, staccato etc and him teaching.
