I'm a sound engineer myself, the band was out of line. There such a vast amount of things that could be going wrong with the sound that the engineer has to figure out in such a short period of time. So when u have a band that doesn't help you out or cooperate with the engineer, it literally adds so much more stress. Props to the engineer. Don't put up with that

The sound guys responsibility is to make the F.O.H. mix as close to perfect as possible. The band has no idea what they sound like through the house, especially since they're using floor wedges. Any good sound man keeps his hands near the controls at all times and knows what adjustments need to be made.....saying that the sound guy should never question the band is stupid...thats why he's there. If he shouldnt question the band, then the band needs to run sound too. Running sound is an art
A band like that plays the same set every night for and hour or two. Deal with the shity monitors and get on with it. You should know your own shit even if you can't hear. The only one who did the right thing is the guitar player, stage right. He kept playing. Guitar player, stage left, is just trying to come up with an excuse for sucking.

Hmm, as a former FOH/MON my opinion is that he should have used the talkback to make sure the band where happy with the mix, and shouldn't have got on stage unless a monitor had become disconnected etc, I don't know the guy personally but I can only assume he'd been wound up by the band for ages. I wonder if they did a soundcheck?

you can see that the monitor engineer comes on to stage and asks the guitarist which guitar he wants turning up, then he points to the drummer to confirm what he said, he tries to walk off stage then the guitarist starts on him. i bet the band were being dicks all day. Still, the monitor guy shouldnt have come on stage anyway.

He's a cheeky twat. Here's what I'd do (and have done as a soundman) Send his vox through a pitch shifter via an aux send, drop it a semitone, mix it with the original signal and then send that to his monitor and watch the ungrateful twat suffer. Great fun. If he's a real twat don't bother mixing it with the original vox, just send him the pitched shifted one..
Lesson 1 - never piss off the soundman before or during the gig. He/she can make you look and sound like a bunch of tone deaf losers.

In my opinion there are lots of asshole sound guys and lots of crap bands. Cruise Ships are the worse. But you know I would have muted all of his microphones and put a cd on. Then I would have moved there shit from the stage and setup the next band. There is no excuse for shit like that.

The sound guys responsibility is to make the F.O.H. mix as close to perfect as possible. The band has no idea what they sound like through the house, especially since they're using floor wedges. Any good sound man keeps his hands near the controls at all times and knows what adjustments need to be made.....saying that the sound guy should never question the band is stupid...thats why he's there. If he shouldnt question the band, then the band needs to run sound too. Running sound is an art

You obviously have never heard the song before, it was not just the monitor that was turned down it was also the guitar volume, and a sound man should never question the orders of the band, they know how they are supposed to sound, and if they order him to do something that makes them sound bad then it is on the band not the sound guy.
