Had I not been at DFW airport to catch a flight that morning I might have been driving in that area that morning. When I heard about this at the airport I felt sick. I almost couldn't make my flight it was so unnerving to me. My heart goes out to the families of Stephen Swan and Matthew Butler. I never knew either one of these young men, but this is a loss I still feel today.

I would really love to have frequent and regular update on any changes in Broadnax's attitude. It should be interesting if and when he becomes apologetic (and finally retrospects to his current demeanor, of indifference to murder). He seems impatient to talk to the interviewer- almost like he has other pressing matters to attend to.

Prosecutors called their rebuttal witnesses after testimony by Darryl Maxwell, one of the men who had been married to Broadnax's mother, Audry Kelly.
Maxwell testified that Kelly had a violent streak that she occasionally took out on him and her young son. He showed jurors scars on his hand and neck that he said came from incidents when he was assaulted by Kelly.
He and Kelly finally split after she whipped the young boy until his back looked like "slavery times," he said.
