This demo of new updated version of unreal 3, I believe 3.9 version is kills cry engine 3. On visual I did not see any improvements in cry engine 3 - only physics and lighting. However, I see a big improvements in new unreal 3 engine update.

Nothing special o.O why is everyone raving about it? Nothing new or exciting....... and it still has the same UGLY U3 typical colors which ruined so many games.
The engine looks great, but still doesn't look as good as CryEngine 2 which is old as hell! If you have the UDK November Beta then you'll know what I'm talking about. The UE3 is just a good looking engine that can be optimized across different platforms, but it sure as hell isn't groundbreaking like CryEngine 2 was.

Almost all of the effects present in this update where added a long time ago in the Farcry2 Engine(where the day night transition was sometimes faulty and never happened while the client was executing, and I am reffering to the cinematic day light transition) and the Source engine(this one lacks the day/night transition witch can be added after some extensive labour)so this update did nothing more than increasing a little the competitiveness of the engine! Actually not, the ps3's main engine, the Cell Broadband engine is actually more powerful than most quad core cpus out there, Dice recently stated that the ps3 version will look almost as good as the PC version, they said that this time they wouldn't tone down the ps3 version to make it look like the xbox360 version... And MGS Rising will look better on the ps3 than on PC... So, yes, the pc is the superior platform, in everything, rendering, applications, modding and price ;)
@RapturousDemise RSX is the heart PS3. It is 2007-08 technology. Today GeForce GTX 550 or Radeon HD 5770 will have almost 3x power over that.

@krasav4ik82 PC middle end card in 2011 will dominate rsx in performance about 3x faster. I am talking about Radeon 5770 or Geforce GTX 550. It has also about 3x more unified shaders pipelines and gddr5 memory that double of frequency and faster gpu.

The Cell is known for it's capability of processing graphics... And the RSX is actually better than the 7900gt, it's not the exact same gpu. Core 2 Quad is only better than the Cell because it's more efficient when using the power of each core. But that can be optimized, what do you think game developers are talking about when they say "We're using 60% of the Cell capacity", it's not only the number of SPE's they're using, but also how efficiently they're using them.

If you knew anything about rendering you would know that the Cell Broadband Engine isn't your everyday normal CPU, it's an engine that can do both complex graphics such as shading and vertex processing while performing normal CPU tasks.

I'm gonna be really objective. This is what I know about the PS3:
It has a Cell cpu system with 1 PPE (3.2ghz) and 7 SPEs (3.2ghz);
It has a RSX (7900gt) with 512mbs
It's a console that matches my furniture, and I enjoy playing exclusive games and I think most of them look pretty amazing. I know almost all of them are in 720p, but most console games nowadays are;
It's an old system, it's outdated, but it's all I can afford for now.
PC gamers have this need of attempting to educate or troll console gamers for playing a console and not a PC, I just wish you guys spent your times enjoying your machines instead of lecturing random console gamers with fancy numbers, calculations and speculations on how our system sucks, for me, the PS3 does not suck, I paid 300 euros for it, and it was worth every cent. i'd say games like crysis come very close to generating LOD like this....
difference- crysis is dealing with HUGE spaces.....whereas the above map is pretty small...
so, in cases where the map doesnt need to be large, a good comp is very capable of handling such graphics.

Games like Blade & Soul, Crysis, etc. use actual, in-game graphics rather than CG produced elsewhere, for example.

Actually not, the ps3's main engine, the Cell Broadband engine is actually more powerful than most quad core cpus out there, Dice recently stated that the ps3 version will look almost as good as the PC version, they said that this time they wouldn't tone down the ps3 version to make it look like the xbox360 version... And MGS Rising will look better on the ps3 than on PC... So, yes, the pc is the superior platform, in everything, rendering, applications, modding and price ;)

@RapturousDemise RSX is the heart PS3. It is 2007-08 technology. Today GeForce GTX 550 or Radeon HD 5770 will have almost 3x power over that.
PS3 is an old technology and only idiot will think that technology of 2008 is better then 2010 or 2011. Especially when it cost like one single video card :-)

My pc cost me 1200 bucks and will kick ass any of alienware shit. It is I7 930 2.8 Ghz and overclocked to 4.4Ghz per core. Total eight cores and each one at 4.4Ghz.

@krasav4ik82 PC middle end card in 2011 will dominate rsx in performance about 3x faster. I am talking about Radeon 5770 or Geforce GTX 550. It has also about 3x more unified shaders pipelines and gddr5 memory that double of frequency and faster gpu.

It is upscaled 1920x1080. Play original 1920x1080 for real and see the difference. I show the different to my friend with dead space.

I owned 7950 gt in 2007-2008. However core 2 duo or cell will squezee it all. Cell a little bit slower then core 2 duo at the same frequency. However when cell was 3.2 ghz,they did not make core 2 duo at 3.0ghz yet,but apple knows it will be changed. So they switched to intel, cause core 2 quad 2.8Ghz kills cell in every point.

The Cell is known for it's capability of processing graphics... And the RSX is actually better than the 7900gt, it's not the exact same gpu. Core 2 Quad is only better than the Cell because it's more efficient when using the power of each core. But that can be optimized, what do you think game developers are talking about when they say "We're using 60% of the Cell capacity", it's not only the number of SPE's they're using, but also how efficiently they're using them.

Cell was initially intended to be the main engine on the PS3, alone, with no GPU, but I'm guessing you also didn't know that ;), but then Sony though that it would be too risky and hired nVidia to develop a GPU for the PS3, that's why the PS3 came out costing 700 euros. nVidia ripped of the main architecture of the 7900gt, but it's not the exact same GPU.

If you knew anything about rendering you would know that the Cell Broadband Engine isn't your everyday normal CPU, it's an engine that can do both complex graphics such as shading and vertex processing while performing normal CPU tasks.

I'm gonna be really objective. This is what I know about the PS3:
It has a Cell cpu system with 1 PPE (3.2ghz) and 7 SPEs (3.2ghz);
It has a RSX (7900gt) with 512mbs
It's a console that matches my furniture, and I enjoy playing exclusive games and I think most of them look pretty amazing. I know almost all of them are in 720p, but most console games nowadays are;
It's an old system, it's outdated, but it's all I can afford for now.

To build a PC from scratch that could last a few years unimproved here in Portugal it would cost me 1000 euros (just the PC, no monitor, mouse etc...). I've done the math countless times.
