If we have a zimbabwe style hyper inflation then there will be things to buy if you have real physical metals of value. 1/10th of 1 gram of 24k gold would buy a loaf of bread in zimbabwe (smuggled in from Nigeria). It took an adult about 12 hours to dig that out of the ground in the countryside according to documentaries posted here on youtube. I have prepared but I could always do more and I hope that we will be okay.

With all the fake silver coins on the internet, I think I can take my 28 grams of 92.5% silver earrings ($3 on ebay w/ shpng) and they will acid test it and I can buy food with it.
if you want into silver you got about 60 days to wait and you want in around 27$ and put a stop at 25.50$ .... next leg up should take us to around 75$ or so.
@dishesdealer417 Pennies made before 1982 are copper. Those made after 1982 are Zinc. Hold in your hand a bunch of pennies. Without carefully looking at each penny's date (and if they are not new and shiny), can you honestly determine which ones are copper and which ones are not. Now imagine 100's, or 1000's, of pennies to someone you are going to barter with for the copper content. At present 99+% of all U.S. nickels are made with copper. The other percent... silver.
@dishesdealer417 Hope that answers your question. Nickels are worth over 7 cents for their metal content. Yes, it is not proportionally as high as 2 cents for a penny worth; however, nickels take away the uncertainty with any perspective person you plan to trade with.
