At least Toyota did not f*** millions of people's jobs around the world by f***cking up the world economy. Hey I am wondering, can we start getting this upset at those who caused that problem?
Do your math . 1 in every 1 million hav the potencial sticking problem . Thats a big no. ryt? I hav a honda and my Dad has a rusty camry 431 000 km just damn rusting. never heard any in Canada same as in USA
Remember when Kristi Bradosky said in 1986 on 60 minutes that the Audi accelerated and killed her son? Do you remember George Russell Weller when he said he stepped on the brakes of his 92 Buick while killing 10 people on a sidewalk in 2003 - both of these people stated at the time the car accelerated and they tried to stop - both were completely wrong - science showed them to be at fault not the car - so please do your homework ! Science will solve this Toyota mystery, stories won't.
In their defense, my 2003 Lexus RX300 and (recently sold) 2001 Camry and have been the most reliable cars. The maintenance costs are a world of difference from our CL63 and Audi S5. At least Audi has a damn good warranty... But so did Toyota, and without the frequent upkeep.
But in all reality, Toyota is a business. Their true interests are making money, not caring about customers.
I've gotten 100 different types of spam, junkmail & other assorted BS after purchasing my '10 prius.I'm still left to "fend for myself" in this whole recall situation. I HAVE YET TO BE CONTACTED DIRECTLY FROM TOYOTA &/OR MY AAA SALESPERSON IN REGARDS TO THIS MATTER! Don't believe Toyotas anti-hype. Their lame bean counters dragged their feet far too long on the matter analyzing their bottom line. Toyotas to blame 4 stock price getting HAMMERED & their poor market value loss.
the best way to stop a runaway toyota its by not buying one in the first place . wow ! , now for you to drive a toyota you need surviving training . i guess that the word toyota and the word quality can't be used on the same sentence anymore . and thats the same for the lexus and scion too...
@18astra - not always bland and boring. thats a relatively (See mid - late 90's) new development. but at least now they can start looking at making fun cars again.
Toyota doesn't care about safety, they care about profit. These errors should have shown up on an FMEA. They probably did, and they ignored it to make money.
who the hell are you to call me stupid? It's my damn money to spend as I damn well please!! Just like any other car in the world, they still require maintenance. I currently have a 2000 Grand Prix with over 202,000 miles on it now. Only once has it ever failed me and that was due to my lack of replacing a part like I should have. I'm not losing anything by not purchasing Toyota's crap!
Dude, the president of GM already admited that they were selling shitty cars that were "below industry standards" and "lacklustre design" - basically he himself, he GURU of GM, said you bought a piece ó shit...an ugly one at that.
That's your opinion, but it's so funny that Toyota has become what Buick used to be. One more thing, my pos is still faster than that boring ugly Camry. GM has produced some bad products and I have no problem admitting it, something you Toyota dumb asses can't seem to do; even when there are problems with them! Also, please post that information where the president of GM has said that!

All overblown.. Toyotas are no more likely too have unintended acceleration than any other cars, despite a few high-profile and very unfortunate cases
Also they claim to have a fix for their recalls, but the Feds are investigating sudden acceleration causes being a result of a fault in the ECM. The gas pedal (which is a flawed design) and floor mat recalls also don't cover reports that go back as far as 1999.
Oh and let's not forget they still haven't recalled the Prius for braking problems even though they know it exists and have a fix for it.
"In recent interviews, two former NHTSA administrators, Ricardo Martinez and Joan Claybrook, have said they believe that some kind of electronic glitch may be causing the Toyota problems. Similar conclusions are being drawn by independent automotive safety experts, forensic mechanics and automotive electronics researchers, as well as many consumers."

"We stopped production. So we could focus on our customer's cars first."
Or maybe the NHTSA had to fly to Japan and remind you that you would be breaking the law if you didn't stop production. (autoblog /report-toyota-was-legally-required-to-stop-selling-recalled-mod/). Not to mention Lentz even said on air that the decision to stop wasn't a voluntary one.
Actually that is not the case. Toyota resumed production because they had the replacement parts to fix the cars on the assembly line, so they could legally sell them again.
Consumer confidence in Toyota's "quality" and "reliability" has been damaged. That's all that Toyota has going for it, take that away and you have middle of the road cars that aren't very good looking and aren't fun to drive. The fallout has just begun. Go look at the sales figures for January for proof enough.
Well Honda does seem to have stricter quality control, and their goal has never been to expand too quickly and be #1 like Toyota made the mistake of doing. I just wish their newer designs weren't so off putting (to put it nicely).
Toyota should really scrap their "Moving Forward" slogan. It just doesn't sound right when their vehicles are being accused of "moving forward" uncontrollably and not being able to stop!
The truth is FINALLY coming out that these Japanese death traps are, indeed, death traps. LOMG LIVE AMERICAN CARS!

We don't value one's life in Japan traditionally.
The suicide rate of Japan is the eighth place in the world.
Kamikaze, High interruption rate, Rape of Nanking , Bataan Death March, Karoshi,
Seppuku, death penalty with the approval rate over 80%, Onigiri-tabetai, Haken-giri, Ubasute-yama, Fukujoushi...
Toyota is not a defect.
It is a culture of Japan.

We masked a deadly problem that we knew about for years to fatten our wallets.
We sold cars until the government forced us to stop.
Gee Toyota maybe you should start telling the truth instead of trying to create a pathetic attempt at glossing over the real situation.
