Is there any possible way that you could show how you made your clouds on your backdrop. Im at that point with painting my backdrop, and Im just unsure of how to get a very realisitc looking cloud like you have done very nicely!
All I do is tear a template out of a cardboard box , hold it about an inch from the surface and use a white spray can to shoot them moving the mask around randomly. I sometimes then go back and use the air brush to darken the undersides of them afterwards.
Thanks, Im gonna have to try that. Ive seen the airbrush technique of that, but I like the idea of using the spray can(less hasle then mixing the airbrush paint). Did you back over the underside of the gloud with a gray or any color to make it darker?
I can appreciate the grandkid friendly layout that you are going for Mike. I can also appreciate the fact that what you built had things that you really don't care for now. I have a multi level with staging on a lower level and never again will I do that. I thought of a helix but realized early on that it took a lot of space though I do have one 3% hill on my Peace River that I would like to see go away. My Kato NW2's have a hard time with anything but themselves. Good luck on the new layout.

On some of the original ones I did but on the newer clouds I may try chalks.

I hear ya , I am starting to wonder if any model railroader is ever happy!! :)

I think you'll be really happy with the Unitrak. For one thing, you'll be done laying track and ballasting in no time!
I look forward to seeing your new layout.

Thanks buttercup I have wanted to try it for some time and have played with some. I also hate to ballast!

It's a sad day indeed. Oh wel, at least we have something new to look forward to. So that's good.

I hate to see it go. Why dont you model the frisco ash grove subdivision ca. 1978? I would like to see that.

Thanks Railfan but I will be sticking with the New Mexico theme. I am also making the layout more viewer and grandkid friendy!
I really want to experiment with the Kato Unitrack.

Ok, I personaly haven't used the unitrack, but I have heard someone say that they had to modify the switches to get them to work.

Thats a shame to take it down, i hope the next one will be just as good, or even better
