Tomoko is my wife and the videos are shot in our apartment in Kobe. Subtitles would be great but they are a bit time consuming. If we decide to make more videos into a sellable product we would definitely include subtitles.
I was just wondering, is Tomoko your relative? Or is she just a friend that does these awesome vids for you?
I love your vids btw! I've learned a lot through watching Tomoko cook. She's the best! The only thing criticism I have, however, is that there are parts where I can barely hear her. Maybe if you do some text overs it could help? Thanks! Keep the vids coming!
Great videos, but if I may, I'd like to suggest you lower the volume of the bg music -- Tomoko's voice isn't very loud in the video, and the music makes it even harder to hear. Also, in some of the videos the instructions don't come across too well, so it might be helpful to include tips/elaboration/translation as overlaying text.
After hearing all of the comments about the music we'll probably scrap the music during the cooking portions. Thanks so much for your comments...keep 'em comin'
I'll have to ask Tomoko for the specific names of dishes but I'll tell you some names to get your research going: mabodofu, many agedofu included dishes, inarizushi, hiyayako, and of course plain in salads and soups.
guchogu - the last ingredient is dried, smoked bonito flakes. The flavor of the flakes is slighly of fish but with a strong smokey aroma. Are you looking for a Japanese substitute? Hmmmm. I would make it without the flakes and then add a sprinkling of something in my kitchen that would taste good.
Sorry I don't have a better answer. Katsuobushi is hard to compare.
Yay! Snap beans are my favourite vegetable :D. They're very popular in Argentina. I'm so gonna make this :D, domo arigato! But what is the last thing you added? Was it dryed shrimps(xiapi in chinese)? That is impossible to find (so saddening, I LOVE them :() here... what could it be replaced with?
Mmm...This was delicious I made it not too long ago. I thought the sauce (or dressing) was delicious. Thank you for showing how to make this Snap Mame Salad!

Looks great and easy too, are you still taking requests? Can you do goya champuru? I love bitter foods!
Zepherus2 4 years ago
Absolutely! She made it a few days ago. It's a family recipe coming from Kagoshima.

It just so happens my mother-in-law makes this very well. I'll see if Tomoko can do it for you.
