  • I'm almost 20 years old and this STILL scares the living hell outta me.

  • one of the scariest things i saw when i was little was this episode of Batman

  • When the music started I seriously thought it sounded like Night on Bald Mountain.

  • Cocaine's a hell of a drug

  • man-bat is so underrated

  • this fucking scene scared the shit out of me when I watched it as a kid. I can't believe they did this for the first episode.

  • this is a perfect example of what drugs will do to you.

  • @gojiraguy200 But it's a bad example - I would totally take drugs if they could literally turn me into a horrific man-bat creature.

  • @ryanlbowman i would take drugs if they did that everyone would agree right even the cops

  • @ryanlbowman so true haha. Heck if drugs made life like Batman TAS count me in

  • @ryanlbowman I would. ;)

  • HOLY SHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The first episode of batman animated!

  • AAAAAH! This video has one dislike and it was me! I pressed the wrong butan! So sorry!

  • @AnomalyINC You are Banned! Oh wait, I can't ban anybody. Darn.

  • @ryanlbowman I chewed of my own thumbs in hopes that the evil that infests me can be purified by pain!

  • @AnomalyINC Sounds tasty. Did it work?

  • @ryanlbowman Yes and no. It did cause pain, but I don't feel purified. May be because of my habit to roll around in manure.

  • @AnomalyINC You can undo Dislikes by pressing Like, now redeem yourself :P

  • when i was a kid a freaked out when i saw man bat

  • Just listen to 0:01. Sounds kinda creepy, doesn't it?

  • creepy

  • It reminds me of "Night on Bald Mountain" from "Fantasia"

  • i love old batman

  • When Shumacher was making Batman and Robin, Warner Bros. assumed it would be a hit like its predecessors and already had another sequel planned called Batman Triumphant. It would have had Man-Bat, Scarecrow, and Harley Quinn as the villains, and rumor has it Madonna was actually interested in playing Harley. Of course, Batman and Robin bombed and all plans for the sequel were called off. Sigh, what could have been.

  • @dkupke Wow. Hearing that makes my want to kill myself actually. That would have been so, so, so, awsome :(

  • i used to transform into a fearsome man-bat, but then i took an arrow to the knee.

  • @stickyfingersAR That joke is old :c

  • @stickyfingersAR, and we give a fuck why?

  • God, I miss old animation.

  • Pfft, people and their wet pants... I don't even understand how this is so... HOLY FIRETRUCK! Damn it, these were new...

  • I almost pissed my pants during this episode as a child. And yesterday...

  • 0:04

That music; a wild manbat appeared!

  • @dalekcaan1963reborn Wild MANBAT used Screech!

  • this scared me as a child and i was what 4

  • this shit scared the shit out of me when i was i kid..

  • @albinzxi lol I was gonna put that as my comment. That shit was scary.

  • I'm thinking Batman was ready for anything - except that.

  • ZUUL MOTHERFUCKER ZUUL!

  • I hope Man Bat makes an appearance in the next Arkham game (come on, City was a smash hit so you know it's gonna happen). He's an underrated villian that deserves some time in the spot light

  • @TheInstantClassic1 I think he may be even one of the main villains cause SPOILER

Azrael said something about Gotham Burning and creatures like Man Bat or Killer Croc would fit perfectly in a complete destroyed gotham^^

  • This Man Bat looks a little like the Germlins

  • He sounds like a demon at 0:01.

  • When Shumacher was making his Batman and Robin film, the studio assumed it would be a smash and already had the script for yet another sequel in mind-it was to have Man Bat and Harley Quinn as the villains. When Batman and Robin bombed, all plans were canceled, and with them Man Bat and Harley's shot at the big screen. Too bad.

  • I used to watch this when I was a kid way back. I'm 21 now, and I can see why. This scene is DARK :/

  • 90's animation had dedication in it, still looks crisp today

  • I remember someone giving me the vhs of this episode when I was a kid. Had nightmares the whole following week

  • Jersey Devil / MOTH MAN etc.

  • no top comment....interesting.....

  • He's a Zoinoid from Guyver.

  • Batman has a great Rogues gallery, and Man-Bat is probably one of the more horrific characters in said Rogues gallery.

  • @TurnToJesus1 Actually if you know Manbats history, he is not really a rogue. Kirk Langstrom originally was deveoping the serum for Batman, to aid him in his crime fighting.

  • Man, I love Dr. Langstrom's mid-transformation voice.

  • in the comments he felled bad of being a bat , here he did it to kill lol

  • Ahhh, saturday mornings O_O

  • Screw werewolves, we need more WERE-BATS

  • I can laugh like this.

    It's great at parties.

  • @MrStrifeDP it probably hasnt gotten you laid though

  • How appropriate is it that a man shapeshifting into an animal is voiced by the Beastmaster?

  • Batman the animated series is the only proof i need to say that my childhood was way better than the childhood kids get nowadays

  • @gnpivot123 True...i'm 14 and i don't even watch TV anymore.

  • Comment removed

  • and we let small children watch that.

  • Why should Man-Bat be a threat to anyone? He's just a giant fruit bat isn't he?

Wait ... that didn't come out sounding right.

  • Batman disliked this

  • maaan i loved this episode and the one with the actor that turns into a slug or something

  • @iamacsel87

    it was Clayface

  • I always loved how he says "It's in me Batman!" lol Just epic!

  • dude! That still gives the creeps to this day. [shudders]

  • Considering the fact that Bruce Wayne is actually afraid of bats, he was probably shitting himself during this scene

  • @Bulldan in the movies he is, but that doesn't mean he is in the comics or this.

unless you know something I don't?

  • *sigh* I miss the good old cartoons that don't sacrifice art or plot possibilities because it might "scare" kids. Cartoons now are putting kids in a helmet, knee pads, wrist pads, shoulder pads, hockey pads, wrapping them with bubble wrap and putting them in a bounce house. God forbid they see anything "too scary".

  • 0:13

  • I'M THE GODDAMNED MANBAT!....Wait, let me try that again..

  • I´ve watched "Silence of the lambs, Saw, The Grudge, the Ring, The strangers" and many more... and this? This is still the single most scary thing I´ve ever seen in my life. Why? Because this scene had even BATMAN scared... Holy shit.

  • Parents are too worried about tv and not worried enough about real problems for their children.

  • WHOA, spooky!

  • Man-Bat was always my favorite Batman villian.

  • Now that was one hell of a scary scene back in the days...

  • Scariest cartoon scene EVER!

  • they dont make em like this anymore

  • 0:10-0:27

you never EVER see THAT happening in kids-shows nowadays

i bet if this came back, many parents would've freaked out and been like:

OMG!! this is too scary, don't watch this children!'

    you know what i say?

    BULL****!!!

    this is AWESOME!!!

  • Adrian Brody = Man-Bat.

  • I want to see Man-Bat in a Batman movie. That would be awesome. :D

  • @tfkisawesome Heck yeah!!!!

  • the wings sorta came out of nowhere

  • This is why Batman villains are superior to most comic book villains. They are home grown.

  • @KoopaEaterMKII bane is the confirmed villain for the dark knight rises, not arkham city

  • lmfao THE evil laugh

  • Dude I remember when I was like 6 and saw this it scared the shit outta me lol

  • call me crazy

    but man-bat looks kinda cute

    and im not gay

  • Scariest moment of the series for me -- and totally awesome, too!!

  • Id use this laugh as a Ringtone.

  • He was still laughing with his lips closed and not moving lol

  • He was such a handsome man before the transformation, I think anyway.

  • PLEEEEEASE BE IN BATMAN ARKHAM CITY!!!!

  • @arandomperson3 THAT would be cool!

  • long live 90s !

  • @darkeradicator1990 i d like to see Clayface in the new batman because he could shape shift into any character

  • @deandre200318 No. Nowadays they're only using villians that are realistically plausable like Two-face, Joker, Scarecrow. So were probably gonna see Penguin, or Riddler, in the next movie. Hopefully Robin comes in.

  • @darkeradicator1990

Indeed, Man-Bat could be a nice villain to have in a Batman movie.

  • @darkeradicator1990

Yup, because with today's technology and the money put in such movies, something great may have come out. I'm not losing hope though. :)

  • I really miss the 90's now...

  • This voice... it sounds familiar.... and if not the voice, it's the sound effect that accompanies the voice! Possibly something from Digimon... not sure.

  • The real batman cartoon.

  • Fox is rightfully made fun of so. Why are they ok with their awful reputation? Seriously. They let themselves be made fun of on their own channel...well they technically have lots of channels but still. They ruined 1 of their best cartoon's chances of being better and it was great.

  • I remember this episode, it looked extremely Japanese in how it was animated. Not surprisingly though, as BTAS was co-animated with Japanese studios. On Leather Wings was nearly entirely done in Japan.

  • oooooohhhhh shit batman time to run

  • I love the voice of man-bat, because he sounds like a zoanoid from the guyver anime!

  • man he looks like scorch from spyro 3

  • That was a terrific episode!

  • shows back in the 90's/early 2000's are so much better then shows nowadays.

    1. they have elements both young and old can enjoy

    2. the villains and heroes actually have personality

  • @LoboFan1000 There are still good shows. They are just much rarer and tend to come from other places now such as Japan but only b/c Japan envies Disney did they strive to be better. (Good) Anime has awful reputation here but it is HUGE everywhere else and watched in the same fashion as Simpsons or old cartoons by all ages. Man how did we screw that up? Batman Beyond was good though. Definitely some nice homage in their Return of Joker thing too.

  • .____.

  • this transformation is cool

  • freaky laugh

  • Something tells me if Kirk Langstrom and Curt Connors ever met they'd probably get along pretty well together. That'd be bad if they happened to be Man-Bat and The Lizard at the time they did.

  • Wow, I'm 12 and my 7 year old cousin got me addicted to Batman...jeesh

  • that's some scary shit..

  • There's irony in this somewhere

  • I loved this episode as a kid

  • langstrom was always one of my favorite batman characters

  • this was the very 1st episode of Batman the Animated Series

  • most underused character ever

  • In the Episode, "Terror in the Sky", you get to see how Man-Bat sees the World.

  • i think think man bat should be in a batman movie it a perfect fit

  • remember when this episode was new

  • cool !

  • the first episode of DCAU!

  • @Kanuskiz wtf is DCAU

  • @nebulae87 DC Animated Universe, a name given to the Bruce Timm style animated series.

  • BEST animated series ever! I hate Spiderman!

  • @Kotlettbengt What's wrong with Spiderman? He's cool!

  • Awesome!

  • I used to have that toy lol.

  • Funny thing is that now in the comics Man-Bat's a good guy.

  • That bat scared the shit out of me when I was a kid, kept thinking he would come crashing in through my window when I was about to fall asleep.. Aah, good old times

  • Now THIS is how to do a monster transformation

  • I uploaded the whole episode on my channel with a review and commentary.

  • I love this guy! He can fly, do that echoing thing, and sleep upside-down!

  • he is my favorite villain

  • sorry I ment to put 0:15

  • awesome!!!!! man bat was my favoriate supervillan in the series he looks even better in the newer series

  • for some reason at 0.15 he looks like a wolf then he starts to look like a bat

  • this scene scared the shit out of me when i was a kid...it still does

  • this scared the shit out of me when i saw it as a kid for the first time batman the animated series was EPIC and still is

  • This scene as a child terrified me, and it still gives the the chills, that shows you just how good this series was.

  • this used to give me nightmares (this scene). ironically it's my fav cartoon. ever

  • That was a sick ass laugh and a evil Transformation to mix

  • Batman was so mega popular that FOX aired it on Primetime Sunday nights beating all of CBS,ABC & NBC shows

  • this scares teh crap out of me too...that sick laugh...batman is the bravest guy ever

  • HE is the nightlife.

    He is vengeance

    He is the dark Savior

  • This Used To Scare The Crap Outta My Sister

  • I cant believe I have solt the action figure of Man bat as a kid ! WHY DO I HAVE TO REMEMBER Y_____Y thanks for sharing though ehem ^^

  • a true classic ^^

  • This scared my to death as a kid! First episode and everything! This show is amazing, so dark, so fucking good!

  • This wasn't the first episode. The Clock King was the first one to air. This may have been the first "episode" they made but Clock King was the first one to come out on tv.

  • @darko84hc Nope, technically the first one was The Cat and the Claw part 1- it aired the saturday morning before the weekday premiere.

  • I agree, the new cartoons have been unwatchable for me, because they've lightened them up too much.

Probably good for kids I guess, but then again, I let my 2 year old daughter watch Batman: The Animated Series, and she loves it.

    More video clips coming soon!
