  • @FirebrandNire Hell yes!!!

  • Fuck Journey....Jeff is better without them!!!

  • @stryk9rockr

Really think Queen should have called upon him to Tour with them, he can really knock those Queen songs

  • All I have to say is that Jeff saved their butts in 2006! I saw them 2x we/Jeff + he rocked! Unfortunately, he didn't have the Journey sound, which is why they fired him. But then, whey did they officially hire him in the 1st place?? Cuz he helped save the 2006 tour? Obviously, Arnel is a much better fit, as he has the "Journey sound"--not exactly like Perry but a much better fit than Jeff. And WOW..Neal's on fire in this video! ;o)

  • POOR management..............There's not much effects.....it's because of where they are playing....I really miss the long hair, maybe it grew out since the vid.

  • POOR management..............

  • Journey prefers some amateur Karaoke singer to a polished professional like Soto.

  • Soto is good in his own voice. Terrible on the classic Journey songs.

  • just starts rippin casual def leppard, so good

  • still stuck in there post perry coma.

  • It's cool to hear them do the late 70's stuff with Soto. He sounds great, IMO. I like Arnel and they've obviously done pretty well with him (can't wait to hear the upcoming CD). Still, part of me really would have liked to see them stick with JSS. He's such a great vocalist and front man (maybe he was too tall for the other guys :).

  • @liquidtenor

Agree. Saw them on this tour and it was the best muscially I'd seen them since with Perry. I liked Augeri...and even Arnell can pull off the Perry thing but it's not Perry. Soto IMO gave them a chance to establish a new sound yet be able to pull off the old stuff great. Plus...he's a 100x better showman than Arnell. I honestly cannot watch Arnell sing.

  • He was the only reason I had interest in Journey post Perry.

  • @Soulman1999, you are correct!

  • Jeff scott soto (only my opinion) peaked during the yngwie/trilogy tour a while back. still a great singer with a great vice, for sure!,..

  • JSS IS BETTER OFF WITH OUT THIS BAND! If you listen to W.E.T. you will be reminded of how easily he COULD HAVE fit into this band.

  • @mbabs15 Soto did not write or sing the background vocals on the WET release. He only sang lead. It is a great CD but do not give Soto all the credit. The credit should go to Eric Martensson ("Eclipse") and Robert Sall ("Work of Art") they wrote the music and lyrics.

  • Theres only one singer for journey and we all know who that is ! , anything else is just trying to hold on to the past , Soto has a great voice but should have concentrated on new material with him and define a new sound for journey to evolve to their next plateau!

  • @gazooblebork What is the name the song they played?

  • Jeff would be great for van halen i think.

  • @Kaledrums I think he would be a better fit with Velvet Revolver, they are still looking a singer.

  • @SoulMan1999 I wonder if they've considered him at all. They would be an amazing band, with Soto at the helm.

  • @Kaledrums I totally agree. I'm suprised they didn't pull him into the fold over Cherone

  • This is AWFUL! He's missing the notes and coming up flat in the beginning of the video... Sorry, but this sounds awful... ok, he sounds better with the band.

Neil still smokes, tho... 5 HiWatt 1/2 stacks and a Les Paul with a Floyd Rose trem. Perfect!

But l', surprised Ross is Playing a Curbow bass. That's like a $500 bass.

  • it seemed like Jeff 's reaching his limite in every song I heard so far. You can't sustain it night after night and show after show. It'd kill your voice. Arnel voice is at least 1 key higher than needed. Jeff sounded flat on higher register

  • i think jeff scott is way better than pineda, and yes imagine a new album written by journey jeff scott soto

  • @Vectormediareactor Where have Soto's solo albums gone after he left Journey. No increase in sales at all. Same with the W.E.T. album again no where. Soto was not the right fit with Journey he was a fill in for the tour. He did a great job.

  • hermannsam1: I agree with everything you said, JSS could've taken them yo new places.

  • Journey w/JSS was just too good to be true. It's got to be real hard when your the new guy in a real big band. Trying to fit in,learning all the songs. I bet the Journey guys micro managed JSS, bet it became no fun... real fast

  • no doubt, Gary is a fine singer too. God forbid he put his creative 2cents in right?!

  • What a WONDERFUL Gibson Les Paul...

  • I didnt know guys wore capri's????

  • manpri's.....haha

  • Not that Jeff doesn't have a really great voice....he does.

It just isn't completely suited to Journey's style of music.

  • Jeff was not the right fit.

  • Finally I get to see Deen jam around!! Hes awesome!!

  • damn his take on whos crying now is out of tune

  • One Of The Coolest Videos i've Seen on Here In Awhile !!!!!!

  • Jeff did fine on this tour. I seen it twice. I think Def Leppard should have been the opening act(Joe's voice is SHOT!, seen D.L. about ten times).

  • I liked JSS with Journey. He did a good job stepping in for Augeri. I read that he signed some sort of confidentiality agreement and won't talk about what happened when he was let go. It's just my opinion, but I think JSS had his own ideas about songwriting and his own style and it didn't mesh with what Schon and Cain wanted to do. He probably had too strong of an opinion about the songwriting process and was let go. It would have been interesting to hear new music with JSS.

  • I believe that was one of the reasons he was let go.

  • soto is a real singer...it was probably hard to sing this crap

  • eventually he did. and not because he could not handle the gig, but because Neal Schon could not boss him around the way he does with Arnel right now.

  • It impossible to replace Steve Perry! JSS has a tremendous voice just not for Journey songs. He should just remain solo and do his own thing.

  • he is good but not for Journey Songs Sorry!

  • I agree with supermirage. I think JSS is a great singer but he's not Journey material. Thanks for posting the soundcheck. It's great to see what goes on behind the scenes.

Deen is such an amazing drummer and vocalist as well! Journey On!!!

  • AWESOME!!!

    Thanks!

  • Amazing pipes on this man. They were fools for sacking him.

  • I completely agree!

I love the part where he breaks into Def Leppard's 'Photograph'

  • BTW, I was agreeing with what MsMercury said about it being a shame they sacked him.

  • Actually he sacked himself. plus he was not the right fit for the band,

  • No, he did not sack himself. He said, himself, what happened.

  • It has not been said why Soto was let go. That is a fact. Soto knows what happened and he will not tell anyone why. Everyone other than Schon knew he was not the right fit for Journey. Everyone appreciated him for filling in for Augeri.

  • Jeff was to good for them.

  • i love people who rag on Soto and didn't even see the show. Kudos.

  • well i was at this show so i can rag on him lol

  • After hearing this. I can understand why Journey ousted Soto. He's vocal tone does not fit the band. Great singer, but not Journey.

  • check out firearnelpineda dot blogspot dot com

  • I was at this show and it was great. Does anyone know if the whole show is available anywhere?

  • deen aint doing coke or any other crap.your just jelous.

  • JSS is great for Journey. His voice rocks!!

  • are you kidding right now ?

  • wow

he sounded great when he was singing "photograph"

  • Oh Yea...Ross The Boss!

  • I felt the same way too, but the rest of the band just met him call the shots.

  • Steve Augeri was definately a better singer for Journey than JSS. JSS is a powerful singer but, his tone is not right for the band

  • though I do agree that Jeff is a fantastic singer he didn't really do it for me in Journey , Steve Augeri was far better suited as Journey's front man
