Why is the storyline so fucking rich in WC3, yet WoW really drops the ball on how to make something so epic that you have real emotions towards what they are doing in the game...?

Many will consider just another moaning post,but seriously,where is this epicness in modern Blizzard games?The way I see it, Blizzard totally forgot how to make epic dialogs and storyline and just focus on giving characters palms bigger than their heads and muscles that would take 200 tons of steroids to grow. I just can't find the beauty in current Blizzard "art".
@TheRealIntri I agree with you! The game mechanics of WoW destroyed the lore! They could do better but it seems like they don't care about the lore but only to fit it with the current gameplay.

Just thought of an intresting raid idea. The timeline is messed up in the Caverns of Time in which Illidan beat Arthas in the duel. However, the lure of ultimate power compels Illidan to become the new Lich King, merging with Ner'zul, using their combined powers to kill Kil'Jaeden, and remake Outland to his will.
the plot of the frozen throne is not very well developed. lots of good characters are not well stretched out, besides such terrible ending... Arthas should get the throne, yes, but Illidan should not die, his stories should keep going!

He was taken back to Outland by Kael and Vashj where he began to bolster his forces to defend himself from Kil'jaeden, utilizing Magtheridon's blood to create fel orcs under his command. But during Burning Crusade, the Sha'tar, a group of draenei and defected blood elves led a campaign against Illidan, who was eventually slain by a band of adventurers, aided by Maiev and Akama.
That actually makes sense, earlier on, Arthas and Illidan were equals, then, Illidan became half-demon and grew in power, while Arthas was losing power. The math doesn't add up. I don't really know about easily, because Arthas is still VERY formidable of an opponent.
Well, Illidan wouldnt be Hiding in the Black temple, Theres a chance he would be more powerful thanks to Kil'jeadon and there would be no "Wrath of the Lich king."
And that was the end of Arthas Menethil. All that remains now is the Lich King...
I can't wait for the release of Icecrown Citadel where I can have fun RPing the moment my character and a band of other Alliance heroes brave the citadel and finally put down the evil that is the Lich King.

Some people will refuse to accept that Arthas was lying to Illidan in order to get him to aid the Scourge against the Legion, or that maybe when Arthas' powers were "restored" at the end of TFT, he was actually made considerably stronger.

if you read Arthas: Rise of the Lich King which is the novel tie in with WOTLK, it reveals that the Lich King is now Arthas alone. He betrayed ner'zhul in his mindscape and took lone control of his body back. i agree that the dialogue and stuff of Arthas in WOTLK just doesn't seem as well thought out and as good as in WC3 and Frozen Throne, but you gotta admit they cant make Arthas win forever like he did throughout WC3/FT. he has to lose eventually, and he will lose in WOTLK

Yes he does, there is a quest in Icecrown given by Tirion and when you complete it he says "There is no Arthas anymore there is only...the Lich King."
It's a figure of speech. The old Arthas is dead. He can not be "redeemed" or anything like that. However, the mind inside is still evil/death knight Arthas. This is from the book 'Arthas: Rise of the Lich King' that Metzen approved personally and says is canon.
Blizzard should make this WC3 mission the next caverns of time instance and have it be one of the raids before icecrown citadel comes out. You'd get to fight alongside DK arthas, Anub'Arak, and Kel'Thuzad (since you fought alongside pally arthas in 5 man CoS) against Illidan's forces in a 10/25 man raid that would be WotLK's Hyjal! That would seriously be awesome.

The blade frostmourne killed him when arthas picked it up in Reign of Chaos. But he somehow revived in World of Warcraft... you also see visions there where he and muradin pick up the blade frostmourne.. in wow... I think he wasn't killed but fairly knocked out for some time.. all I know at least
Yea Blizzard regretted that final cut scene they were going to make it into a cinematic but got rushed on release. They never wanted to make it seem like Illidan was dead nor put such little detain on an epic battle

But this gave tirion a sight into what the lich kig nwas now and he told me that everythign that was still 'arthas' was gone. He was now the lich king with a mortal husk

Nope it's another Old God, or part of it like C'Thun. We have seen 3 Old Gods or their avatar in Warcraft games so far.
1. The Forgotten One and its Faceless Ones minions wich were in the deeps of Azjol Nerub
2. Yogg-Saron and his minions, he was chained deeply inside Ulduar.
3. C'Thun and his minions, the Quirajis, who were locked behind the Scarab Wall of Ahn'Quiraj.
It is not confirmed if The Forgotten One is part of Yogg-Saron or if he's a completely different Old God.

The blade frostmourne killed him when arthas picked it up in Reign of Chaos. But he somehow revived in World of Warcraft... you also see visions there where he and muradin pick up the blade frostmourne.. in wow... I think he wasn't killed but fairly knocked out for some time.. all I know at least

Yea Blizzard regretted that final cut scene they were going to make it into a cinematic but got rushed on release. They never wanted to make it seem like Illidan was dead nor put such little detain on an epic battle

Arthas' soul and sanity were completely taken away when he took hold of the runeblade Frostmourne, therefore he went devoid of any emotions and did completely what he desired and what the Lich King Ner'zhul required of him. The Paladin Arthas is no more, and same with the Death Knight Arthas when his body was merged with Ner'zhul's ghost. The Lich King as of now is made up completely of the once-orc Ner'zhul's spiritual entity.

Yet, i recently did a special questline in icecrown, in that i found the 'heart of arthas' wich he riped from himself after his fight with illidan (Woohoo POTC) lord tirion fordring sees this as an oppurtinity and when he gets a chance to dstroy it he faints. and darion saves me and tirion from the lich king. But this gave tirion a sight into what the lich kig nwas now and he told me that everythign that was still 'arthas' was gone. He was now the lich king with a mortal husk
