The studio, Harry Cohn, obviously made the Stooges work regardless of Curly's failing health. From '44 thru '45 there is obvious negative change in his appearance and ability to deliver his lines. Not the rapid, fast on the draw responses as in the earlier films. but now a shallow image of his former self. Notice also in these later pics how Larry's role has been increased and given more lines in order to fill in for the lack of gags that Curly used to dominate.
@MIKESOWELL yes and sadly they knew something had to be happening this was made in 45, his stroke happened in 1946-1947, not sure, almost a full year....so so sad.
Lol.... hey I got a idea. Shut up I don't want to hear it. What is it?

i prefer the black and white version of this, than the colorized. In that one you can seel show sick Curly was, and it's devestating.

It's basically stock footage from two other shorts because Curly's health wouldn't allow a normal 4-5 day time for a short.

One of my faves. If they were playing this one in New Jersey, I might've missed it.

@He had his first major stroke in May 1946 on the set of Half Wits Holiday, but he had mini strokes from February 1945 onwards.

@MIKESOWELL Notice Curly's facial appearance. Such a sad thing to see.

@269848 Yes, it is. He is about 42 years old here, but looks at least 10 years older.
