Now I'm not saying that they aren't both behaving like a pair of catty bitches and need to get over all the fighting. We all know almost all of Christina's musical style came from Mariah and I'm sure every time Christina drops a song Mariah pays close attention because whether she admits it or not, Christina is a very talented girl. It's a shame because I always wanted to hear what they would produce in a duet.

Christina's musical style and sensibility came from a variety of sources, not just Mariah. Christina has a good deal of Whitney and Etta James and a touch of Madonna here and there. Mariah whistles more than she belts, Christina belts FAR more than she whistles (in fact Christina was just playing around and then people caught on that she was whistling and went crazy over her high notes while she actually sounds better lower, thanks Mariah).

Christina's whistle register is very untrained and most of her notes in the extension are hit in the same fashion - by ascending the scale without any varied skill or technique. When it comes to belting, her best notes are below E5, after which she strains. Mariah can go up to A5 by belting with clear enunciation whereas Christina has yet to hit a clear G#5 (other than the single exclamation that she did in the studio) and she has never reproduced it live (neither any of her whistles above A6).

Thank you for posting this. It's strange that Mariah has been removed from her list of influences on almost every site (from wikipedia to several of her fansites) since they started feuding. Just because they hate each other doesn't mean that they can't respect each other as artists. We all know that Christina has swagger jacked Mariah's style/music on every album she released since then yet her team (and her fans) act as if she never liked the woman. Can't erase the past people!
