  • I want your car :)

  • Nice. Reminds me of my 74 Mark IV. 460 power, luxury and rides like you LR couch.

  • I had a 76 T-Bird in High School. Black, padded Black landau top, Black leather seats, power everything,460 ci V-8, C-6 transmission. I remember driving on the Tollway at 92 mph and the car just glided along.

My friends and I would take my boat all over. We only had trouble one time. We went to the record store and when we were trying to get home the car wouldn't move. Had it towed back home and my dad showed me that the tie rod had fallen off (wore out). Could've been worse!

  • My dad had one of these cars when I was little. It was green...lol..He was always pro FORD!!!

  • Comment removed

  • why do you have transit buses in suburbs?

  • I want your steering wheel...so i can put it in my 78 f250, this one has more detail then mine.

  • How could you video tape while driving?

  • @ellaswing its probably an automatic one hand for steering one for filming and the feet for gas and brake

  • I love the models 1977 & 1978 models as they were my dream cars! When changes took place for the 1979, I did not like was was done to the tail lights.

  • what other steering culloms will fitt a 1976 mercury montego mx

  • how many MPGs do you get with a 460???

  • I have a 1971 Lincoln....71 was one of the best years because in 72 they cut the compression wayyyy down...mine will burn the tires off from a dead stop and it will absolutely haul ass

  • Thunderchicken obviously didn't have his running well. This was my first car and with 4 other guys in the car I had my t-bird up to 140. She floated on air until ya hit a dip, then you'd see a few sparks. Most comfortable car I ever owned. Wish I still had her, had all the options including factory security system and automatic lights. Not bad for a 76.

  • I had one of these back in 1983. 15 MPG max. But what a comfortable ride.

  • @reeltorock is it possible to get 825 to 900 hp out a 460 fuel injected engine? I have a 1986 30 Holiday Rambler Motorhome on a Ford E-350 chassis with a 225 hp 460 Fuel injected big block, I'm looking to bump it up to about 825 to 900 hp and 1200 foot pounds of torque I plan on using this as both a regular RV as well as putting in some good quarter mile times also.

  • Dude, you don't need a tach, your not going to break any land speed records, leave the poor thing alone. Just fix the clock. It's a nice car.

  • @ENCOMAN Yes, why do you need a tach for a car with an automatic anyhow tachometers are for manual shifting. Besides that the clock was a optional item slike the AM/FM 8 track stereo so not every car came with one.

  • why replace the clock with a tach? This car is a pooch, even with the 460. I had a 1 owner with 51,XXX miles, and it wouldn't turn the tires, with a top speed of 115.. FIX THE CLOCK!!

  • @Thunderchicken1997 What do you mean by turn the tires?

  • @mattg889 "Turning the tires" is slang for burning rubber. He means that the car is so heavy with such little horsepower that it can't even do a burnout from a dead stop even with an open rear differential.

  • don't see those models anymore, riding along with you for only 1 minute was like a blast from the past. Cool video.

  • 0:44 what a sweet growling beast =D

  • sucks gas but hauls ass!

  • I hope all goes well, sounds similar to what I did with my 79 only it has a 351M

  • in 1976 the motors were low compression and very bad emission control devices that killed a lot of power.any new intake and igntion like elbrock or msd parts will wake it up

  • ford were always innovators in design

  • orgasm...

  • Ignorant fool....

  • @xxxrobxxxzombiexxx I bet you wouldn't say that to his face.

  • Sounds like a typical 460--smooth and effortless power, lots of torque. Best and last big block, including the 429, that Ford ever made. I have one in a '77 Mercury Grand Marquis.

  • agreed. i had one in a 77 marquis. not a grand, just a marquis

  • @VictrolaJazz ..."that Ford ever made", you mean "ever made". I've rebuilt many GM engines such as the 366, 427, 396, and 454's with low miles that had catastrophic failure. I've also rebuilt many Fords like the 360, 390, 429, and 460's but these are usually brought in to be freshened up after many miles and years of reliable service. Not saying there aren't some guys out there with high-mileage original BBC engines but what I am saying is there are usually way more original Fords.

  • thanks for the ride

  • look at that big long hooood! Nice. I miss mine.

    Gar

  • It's like a baby Lincoln! How much mpg?

  • a 460 in a 76 i had a 79 and that thing weighed over 4000 lbs and that was with a 351 i got 15 in mine so im guessing that gets probly 10 12 on a good day

  • depending o which way the wind was blowing to, is also a key factor on thos old gun boats. LOL

  • i own a 79 tbird there such good cars oo yea idk that they would time 15 thats pretty fast.

  • no not time 15 was the mpg my 79 had a major oil leak a cracked radiator and it ran like a pro till i dropped the new 460 in it

  • A 460 might not use any more gas because it has a lot more torque than a 351 to move the same weight--it's called power to weight ratio.

  • my old 1975 f150 with 460 would get 15 mpg empty, and 15 mpg with a 15000lb trailer on it

  • Thanks for the ride down memory lane! My grandparents had a blue 75 T-Bird like this one and I fondly remember riding in that car. It was such a great car!

  • Very sweet ride! The pre 1977 T birds were one of Ford's (few) better ideas. What'd you pay for it?

  • Thanks, it should be much more fun to drive after the powertrain rebuild. I paid $2700CDN which was high, considering how weak it ran. Live and learn, I guess. It will be very nice eventually.

  • @reeltorock I know this comment wa sposted 2 years ago, but nevertheless, you think $2700 are much for such a car? :O Gosh! I live on the wrong continent -.-

    I paid 7890€ which is like $10660 for my 1977 Ford LTD 4 Door 351w -.-

but nevermind. it means alot to me no matter how much i paid.

  • @bagelboi66 my dad has a 60's t bird with the 351 didn't know they had the 460's as well
