Steve thanks for the vid, great tone. I have the 1x12 combo version and am having trouble getting the right fluid distortion out of it. I've tried everything on all channels. I use a Saturator, and a Jemini for distortion, not really happy with those, just can't get that natural harmonic distortion to come through. My route 66 overdrive actually sounds better than those but still not enough bite, any suggestions????
Chase the Vintage Mark IICs and IIC+s. Handwired. Full of flavor and sound.
I have an ultra rare prototype Mark IIC "i". No eq with reverb. It has a special
light gold adonized chassis.
I think MB is right no eq is fast. Immediate, punch, quick, etc. The vintage ones will pay for themselves many times over . I think only 25-50 Mark IIC "i"s were made. They are inbetween the IIC and IIC+. They have some of the tweaks of the IIC+, though I would never upgrade!!!!
@richedie I can see why you'd think that, but two things: youtube sound quality affects this clip, and also, higher settings on the master (around 1/2) and lower on the channel volumes will open the Mark V up a little. And generally, higher volumes will sound better.
Great video man. Is your 2x12 an open or closed back? I plan on getting the 2x12 OB with a Tiny Terror for now......but later definitely want the Mark V!
@TheHornet79 except a $2 squier bought at a garage sale that doesn't stay in tune that's also hopefully out of intonnation.. into a Vox battery powered amp :D
Beautiful tone!!! You sir can play the crap out of that guitar! The tone is probably the best Ive heard ever. Seriously; That is the "dream" sound I think we all want....
Amp sounds great.. Right now I'm kind of looking at this, a Suhr Badger, and oddly enough, a Bogner Uberschall twin jet. They all sound great. This is the most versatile by far, but tonally I don't think I like it as much as either of the other two. I'm probably gonna end up with the Uberschall because I'm getting an awesome deal on it, and I'm going to end up having a Badger at some point or another without a doubt lol
Great demo! It's nice to hear someone actually..... P-L-A-Y-I-N-G the amp intead of the usual yacking for nine and a half minutes before they play a couple of funk/ blues licks and end the video. Well done!
Steve - Are you still digging your Mark V? I saw you made a comment that you've changed your settings since your video. Would you share your new settings? Your tone is awesome. Have you experienced any clipping of your stompboxes through the FX loop? I'm struggling with that now with my Boss pedals. THX! God Bless!

Ive fallen in love now.. :)) but until these things dont start to rain from the sky I think I may only dream about it.. mesas are great great great but bit overpriced.. but you get what you pay for I think..
Damn... This should be demo'ing that guitar, not the mark V.
Suhr... *Drool*
Great tones bro. I'd like to hear an example of the lead channel being pushed a bit harder with a bit more gain. I've never gotten the chance to try a Mark V before, so I'm curious if Mesa is lying when they say the lead channel is basically a mark IV.
@oilpit Most stock settings might seem too midscooped, but don't forget, the Mark V is a really heavy midrange amp. Having the mids really high might make the feel too stiff and perhaps stand out in a mix too much. The same applies for the midrange control for the EQ slider...
Did you get rid of the LSS? I like the sound of the MarkV or better YOUR playing. You sound great hrough any amp BUT have to agree with some of the other people... like the Lonestar sound better. Thanks for posting this bro. Peace, G.
hah.. they are both great amps.. check out my stiletto tones that i put up, this is a pretty poor demo for the MKV.. i always get really excited when I first get a new amp, and end up posting crappy clips.. i have a lonestar demo on the shogun777 account that is pretty horrendous!!
I really like your 3 amps. I checked out the MarkV and Stiletto myself and wound up buying a second Lonestar. You have a great Stiletto and MarkV sound. How do you like your Orange cab? I use a Mesa 3/4 back ext. cab (1x12) and have been wondering about other cabs. Let me kow man. Thanks bro, -G.
I currently have a LSS with a MKV 112 on the way. I caught a tip at a NAMM video that the MKV channel one "fat" setting is actually the LSS preamp. After careful toying with a V at a music store: I discovered that the V will make LSS sounds, especially when you bump the mids in post (EQ) and throw up the gain and treble in the preamp. I'm not selling my LSS until I compare the two to see if they are as similar as I thought!
it definitely is-- it is brighter than the lonestar, but is sitll VERY smooth.. if you start turning up the treble (i have it very low) you can get into the lonestar'esque tones
affirmative! browse through the rest of my vids if you want to hear some better clips of the two amps.. my band is releasing a CD on Sunday, and its pure lonestar tones on it! i snuck in a little bit of the mark v, but not enough for anyone to notice
Hey there! Your tone in this vid is really good. Do you still own this amp? Is there anyway you can share your exakt settings used? Thanks!

I hate to say it, but the new Mark V sounds sort of like a big Rockman or something. Always sounds sort of fake to my ears.

Great amp I have drooled over the Mesa amps sounds for a long time. The thing I am most impressed with about this video is the guitarists mad skills.
You are sick with that guitar, seriously. Mad skills, mad props brother !!

Nice demo man! Good amp... nothing more to say. The mark fives tone kick ass.
Its good that all mesa's amps are taking pedals so well/good, instead of taking out its tone and quality.
Btw the chords you are playing from 0 to like 35, is it a song or just some random chords : )?

@Gregrg7 I gotta respectfully disagree...
I think it produces a really thin, tinny, gross guitar tone.
But to each his own.
