I sometimes wonder what it would be like with this phenomenon in the Octagon with the fighters today. He would show the bag of bones with the longest reach to the mat real quick.
With training of course, though perhaps he probably could do it without training with his intense workouts.
@wootful93 u obviously dont know the power of true shaolin training and disipline. and bruce lee is one of the originators of mma through the combining of multiple styles
@kurosakiichigo2376 all that shaolin kung fu shit ain't real dude no one in mma trains kungfu cuz it never works it a real fight...kungfu even loses to karate....karate has won in almost every fight against kung fu
@wootful93 No one in in MMA trains in kung fu because over 1/2 of MMA is grappling/wrestling. Most fighters just take boxing or muay thai with some kind of judo or wrestling training.
bruce lee would show up to the UFC fight...let them draw blood...then he would lay a smack down soo great that the opponents grandchildren will feel it
my god people bruce lee was far far ahead of mma in many ways please believe he was the greatest we have seen manifested yet ... well maybe me of course
I'm sorry, mma is bullshit. Early ufc may have been ok, but now it's filled with tons of rules that make the sport look like shit. It's bloody pathetic to watch. If it's meant to be a spectator sport, then it should focus on creating more exciting stuff for the spectators to watch. Duhhh. Boxing is better. And don't even start with the "ufc prepares you for real fights" crap. WTF is the point of ufc?
@Supernamekian1 To watch people with different levels of mma skill compete? Guess that is the obvious answer. Yes, the earlier UFCs was more fun to watch, but it wasn't going to be legal in many of the states the way it was and the fighters were not going to have long careers at all.
"Lee began teaching martial arts in the United States in 1959. He called what he taught Jun Fan Gung Fu (literally Bruce Lee's Kung Fu). It was basically his approach to Wing Chun. Lee taught friends he met in Seattle, starting with Judo practitioner Jesse Glover, who later became his first assistant instructor. Lee opened his first martial arts school, named the Lee Jun Fan Gung Fu Institute, in Seattle.
you guys in here are really stupid. Bruce Lee would not stand a chance against any light weight UFC fighter. He was basically an MMA magician. I hate to break it to you guys but, Bruce Lee was about as real as David Blaine
Have you? It doesn't take a genius to realize that, this punch he did would not have the same effect if that person did not ropes attached to him. Anyone with the right training could do that. Its more a physics trick. Dont be a fool, man ! Bruce Lee was a great fighter, im sure of that, but would not stand a chance in real MMA.
@illuminatijews there's more to his style than a quick punch this was just a demonstration Bruce Lee was the godfather of mma and he had passed away at a young age he would be 70 in this time and not in his prime we can never determine a fight between great fighters until we can witness the result. Bruce Lee inspired mma and the mma fighters carry on the tradition "Absorb what is useful, Discard what is not, Add what is uniquely your own" - Bruce Lee.
I am not disagreeing with you. I still hold my position on Bruce Lee being more of an actor/Martial Artist, like Jet Li, for example. See, I dont see the significance of a punch like that, really. What is that trying to prove? Anybody who gets punched, while suspended in elastic ropes like that will fly back considerably high, depending on the strike of the punch; because gravity is not completely holding you down. But, it seems like this was done to make people believe he could.
@illuminatijews well when somebody gives you an apportunity in becoming an actor why not? they make great money and being able to push someone back when his fist was only 1 inch away is a demonstration if he had more distance and went for the face that would hurt like hell. Lee is famous because he was the best in his time not only for his epic films rather than criticize him you should respect him for accomplishments and inspiration to disrespect one who has passed away is pathetic
What are you saying ? that Bruce Lee punches hard because, his punch was only one inch away ? Well, just to let you know, the shorter the punch, the harder the hit. Ask any boxer, or MMA striker, they will tell you about short distant punches. This is the reason why Bruce chose to punch him close up. Also, if you notice that the punch is done from an unusual angle. That is because Bruce wanted give away the illusion that his punch was without the kinetic energy from his legs.
That is the reason I was saying before that he was illusionist-MMA artist. That punch was essentially an uppercut, but done proficiently fast, so one couldn't see what was actually going on. And, you sit here still believing all the hype behind Bruce Lee.
@illuminatijews Have you ever heard of isometric tension? Tightening all of the muscles needed to throw a normal punch against each other and then releasing them through that quick maneuver producing enough force to knock a person back. It's technically not an uppercut, nor it is a jab or straight. And I agree with you, Lee was (and is) the best MA to have lived, not only for his accomplishments, but his dedication and he was remarkably intelligent
no, I tried" googling" it, I couldn't find anything. Is this what he was doing in this demonstration ? I am referring to the punch he did with the guy suspended on ropes. I confused the two.
@illuminatijews It's the basis behind the one inch punch. In short, he used isometric tension to squeeze the muscles needed to perform a full punch together, then released it. So the One Inch Punch carries the same amount of force, if not more, than a normal punch. The guy who did the first demonstration with Lee asked him not to do it again, the pain in his chest was so bad that he had a hard time swallowing food for a while. In the two demonstrations I've seen him do, there's two different
@illuminatijews guys receiving the blow. Bruce Lee was a genuine MA before he ever became an actor. I believe his first martial art was Wing Chun, then he went on to learn more martial arts and added his unique philosophy and maneuvers to them, resulting in Jeet Kune Do. He had a legitimate Martial Arts school as well in California, where he taught people like Chuck Norris (who is blown up to be more than he really is imo). Chuck learned Jeet, but I don't think he ever really used it.
@illuminatijews Bruce was deadly, how many of these fights have you seen? Many eye gouges out? How about throats rip out? With one wing chung slap on the opponents fore arm he could make that arm fall lose at the side, unusable.
Try a wing chung school and then come back here and apologize for your ignorants.
@illuminatijews Bruce was deadly, how many of these fights have you seen? Many eye gouges out? How about throats rip out? With one wing chung slap on the opponents fore arm he could make that arm fall loose at the side, unusable.

Im sorry, I agree with the saying that, Bruce Lee is the godfather of MMA. However, that does not mean, he would have done well in Strikeforce or any MMA division. Its like saying, Plato would have excelled in modern day philosophy. There is no way of telling that, or making that assumption. The truth is that, he never competed professionally in boxing, or any of those sports, so we may never know. Your too caught up in this Bruce Lee delusion. He never fought real athletes.
@chibears26 Woah woah woah... There is absolutely no need to resort to name calling because I don't believe something. I haven't seen any proof that it is real so it makes it kind of hard to just take a leap of faith and say that it was legit. Once I see some hard core evidence I may believe it.
@sh4rpsh0t33 ummm, i never said you being failure is proof, please get a middle school readin capability before responding as now it has been 2 in a role reading failures on your part, well you clearly are a failure that you have made yourself to become completely indenial about who bruce lee is and what bruce lee was able to do, but clearly you have no idea who the hell bruce lee is because if you did then you understand that the name bruce lee itself is proof of the one inch punch.
@chibears26 I didn't say that you said calling me a failure was proof. That is why there was a space between the lines... Also, I can't believe you are attacking me about reading capabilities when your paragraph was a train wreck at best.
You are in complete denial about Jamie Lee Curtis. If you understood who the hell Jamie Lee Curtis is you would understand that the name Jamie Lee itself is proof of the one inch punch.
@sh4rpsh0t33 wow you just put a nail in the coffin, you are completely utterly batshit insane and belong in a straight jacket locked away in a white padded room. completely delusional, just about every reason to put someone away in mental ward you have clearly expressed a number of time, dont respond anymore i am fearful of "crazies"
@chibears26 It's crazy to not believe something when there is no evidence provided? What world do you live in? I could be calling you crazy for not believing Jamie Lee Curtis's power and both of are remarks would have the same value, none. The burden of proof is on YOU to show me that Bruce Lee is as great as you say. Otherwise don't expect anyone would didn't drop out of the 8th grade (as I assume you did) to believe you.
@sh4rpsh0t33 oh yeah i forgot, so according to your fucked up delusional world, michaeal jordan was not the greatest basketball player ever, he sucks and has no records, walter payton was the worst runningback ever, bruce lee has absolutely no idea how to fight, tom brady is not a quarterback and sucks at football, babe ruth never played baseball and if he did he completely sucks,
-take all your crazy bullshit back to your white padded room delusional crazy fuck bastard
@chibears26 Unlike Bruce Lee, there is tons of footage of Micheal Jordan, Tom Brady, Babe Ruth, and Walter Payton all over the internet. There is not of Bruce Lee. Unless you are getting your information from his movies which you probably are. Believe it or not movies aren't real.
@sh4rpsh0t33 theres information all over the fuckin place about bruce lee if you know how to fuckin look for it. just fuckin last year a martial artist was tested for his one inch punch power and the force measured from his 1 inch punch was equal to hitting a conrete wall in a 40 mph car crash, and his power wasnt even close to bruce lees power, so shut the fuck up until you gain the slightest bit of knowledge about a topic, and go back to your white padded room crazy delusion fuck.
@Gubatron814 Doing your own stunts doesn't make your movies real. Many actors do their own stunts. However, if you are trying to tell me that he was actually hitting people in the face, moreover that any of the fight scenes were real, then you are a complete moron.
@sh4rpsh0t33 If you understand the philosophy of JKD, u understand that the key is to perceive the attack coming and strike in the middle of their attack. UR defense is your quick offense. Also mixing styles of fighting into your OWN style. He studied martial arts, boxing, fencing, and wrestling. Back then, there was no MIXED MARTIAL ARTS. He CREATED the mixed martial arts that is all over the UFC right now. Doing shit like that back then would get u killed. This was why he was the greatest.
@ruly14d bra Bruce lee would destroy these ufc fighters fighting styles now aren't what they were then. Plus if he was still alive I'm pretty sure he wouldn't have even tried to do UFC. Look at the way he fights and look at how they fought then. Bruce lee was strictly Kung Fu now people try to add street fighting in everything.
@eprado91 Bruce Lee didn't do strictly kung fu. He practiced a number of different arts and disciplines, which he incorporated into his fighting repertoire. You're right though, he would destroy today's UFC fighters if he chose to fight them. His strikes were very likely as strong as the strongest heavyweight's.
Do you mean it's not about bulk and height? Because I don't believe he ever even hinted it wasn't about muscle. He did everything so he was stronger, faster and more educated than anyone alive at the time.
@ruly14d bruce lee was one of the first people to make fighting techniques to fight like that people just learned more martial arts to help them to do better now

@sh4rpsh0t33 wow you just put a nail in the coffin, you are completely utterly batshit insane and belong in a straight jacket locked away in a white padded room. completely delusional, just about every reason to put someone away in mental ward you have clearly expressed a number of time, dont respond anymore i am fearful of "crazies"
chibears26 1 year ago
@chibears26 It's crazy to not believe something when there is no evidence provided? What world do you live in? I could be calling you crazy for not believing Jamie Lee Curtis's power and both of are remarks would have the same value, none. The burden of proof is on YOU to show me that Bruce Lee is as great as you say. Otherwise don't expect anyone would didn't drop out of the 8th grade (as I assume you did) to believe you.
sh4rpsh0t33 1 year ago
@sh4rpsh0t33 oh yeah i forgot, so according to your fucked up delusional world, michaeal jordan was not the greatest basketball player ever, he sucks and has no records, walter payton was the worst runningback ever, bruce lee has absolutely no idea how to fight, tom brady is not a quarterback and sucks at football, babe ruth never played baseball and if he did he completely sucks,
-take all your crazy bullshit back to your white padded room delusional crazy fuck bastard
chibears26 1 year ago
@chibears26 Unlike Bruce Lee, there is tons of footage of Micheal Jordan, Tom Brady, Babe Ruth, and Walter Payton all over the internet. There is not of Bruce Lee. Unless you are getting your information from his movies which you probably are. Believe it or not movies aren't real.
sh4rpsh0t33 1 year ago
@sh4rpsh0t33 theres information all over the fuckin place about bruce lee if you know how to fuckin look for it. just fuckin last year a martial artist was tested for his one inch punch power and the force measured from his 1 inch punch was equal to hitting a conrete wall in a 40 mph car crash, and his power wasnt even close to bruce lees power, so shut the fuck up until you gain the slightest bit of knowledge about a topic, and go back to your white padded room crazy delusion fuck.
chibears26 1 year ago
@sh4rpsh0t33
Believe it or not Bruce Lee despised the use of special effects.
Thus making most, if not all of his movies "real".
Gubatron814 11 months ago
@Gubatron814 Doing your own stunts doesn't make your movies real. Many actors do their own stunts. However, if you are trying to tell me that he was actually hitting people in the face, moreover that any of the fight scenes were real, then you are a complete moron.
sh4rpsh0t33 11 months ago

Bruce lee was strictly Kung Fu now people try to add street fighting in everything.
eprado91 1 year ago
@eprado91 Bruce Lee didn't do strictly kung fu. He practiced a number of different arts and disciplines, which he incorporated into his fighting repertoire. You're right though, he would destroy today's UFC fighters if he chose to fight them. His strikes were very likely as strong as the strongest heavyweight's.

Bruce Lee proves that it is not about size or amount of muscle when a person fights. RIP
Fear08MX 1 year ago 7
Do you mean it's not about bulk and height? Because I don't believe he ever even hinted it wasn't about muscle. He did everything so he was stronger, faster and more educated than anyone alive at the time.
