What are you saying ? that Bruce Lee punches hard because, his punch was only one inch away ? Well, just to let you know, the shorter the punch, the harder the hit. Ask any boxer, or MMA striker, they will tell you about short distant punches. This is the reason why Bruce chose to punch him close up. Also, if you notice that the punch is done from an unusual angle. That is because Bruce wanted give away the illusion that his punch was without the kinetic energy from his legs.

Tightening all of the muscles needed to throw a normal punch against each other and then releasing them through that quick maneuver producing enough force to knock a person back. It's technically not an uppercut, nor it is a jab or straight. So the One Inch Punch carries the same amount of force, if not more, than a normal punch. The guy who did the first demonstration with Lee asked him not to do it again, the pain in his chest was so bad that he had a hard time swallowing food for a while. In the two demonstrations I've seen him do, there's two different

I believe his first martial art was Wing Chun, then he went on to learn more martial arts and added his unique philosophy and maneuvers to them, resulting in Jeet Kune Do. He had a legitimate Martial Arts school as well in California, where he taught people like Chuck Norris (who is blown up to be more than he really is imo). Chuck learned Jeet, but I don't think he ever really used it.
