@werdorino Ok, now worries dude, I and other people of colour will deal with the sharp end of racism everyday (cos we have to deal with this shit) and you and Justine can live in your surreal little world where your white privilege can decide what aspects of racism are “entertainment”- and what is not - thus disassociating yourselves from ever addressing Racism front on. It’s a clever distraction, but that’s all it is.
Nice and safe talking about stuff white people like (to mostly white people) - basically be talks about everything but white racism. I can understand the machevlaien /comedic approach -but racism, at the end of the day, is no joke. FAIL.
@Gunnabee you're missing the point. He's from downtown Toronto (as am i), an incredibly diverse place. His humour is the way it is because he's making fun of North American urban faux-liberal types. If he came from a more rural background or some background where he actually had to deal with racism, he'd definitely joke about it. The fact is this comedy is comedy based on experience, and that's why he jokes about the things he jokes about.
@werdorino , what? He’s never had to deal with racism because he's from downtown Toronto and racism doesn't happen there because you say it doesn't happen?? C'mon, that's just silly! If he's making fun of white people who think racism does not exist in their neighbourhood (because they refuse to see their own white privilege) then that's fine. But he's not. If anything he's glorifying this ignorance..i.e., let’s make fun of our white privilege without ever saying the 'r' word...how pathetic.
@Gunnabee what's silly is you taking what you want me to be saying from my reply rather than considering the points, and what's even silllier is that you get mad at a comedian for not having the same purposes in mind as you. Go to the site "stuff white people like" and look at the posts on "liking barack obama" and "knowing what's best for poor people" and you'll see what kind of white person he's making fun of. It's his art and if it doesn't fit your world view then ignore him
