Ted Knight's Riddler's laugh here is like that of Richard Widmark maniacal laugh in the movie "Kiss Of Death" 1947....and the irregular haulting voice style is similar to that of James Cagney voice of the 1930's..see ...you...dirty..rats!

I agreed..Imagine if you will..if the producers of the 1960's BATMAN were Desilu and Quinn Martin and they had decided to do Batman realistically like "The Untouchables"....Martin Landeu would have been perfect....though really like Frank Gorshin who to me is still the best Riddler i've ever seen..Gorshin plays the part with such fiendish glee..that is blows anybody else out of the water.@peternoer

@johnnynoirman John Glover does a better, more subdued version of the Riddler on the Batman animated series of the early 1990's. His Riddler gave gravitas to an otherwise ridiculous character.

It always work for me..Ted Knight's must of decided to do a kind of Jimmy Cagney like

like accent here...While Frank Gorshin went for more of a Richard Widmark as Tommy Udo

This stuff is awesome! I'm looking for the dvd set. When I was a kid I always tried to imitate the Riddler's speech style and laughter. To this day I still can't do it! All the villains had a unique style. Add a roaring batmobile engine and dramatic music and you've one hooked kid!

Of course, the Riddler was voiced by the late actor Ted Kinght, who also did voice work on other Filmation cartoons such as Journey To The Center Of the Earth, Fantastic Voyage and Lassie's Rescue Rangers. He also narrated some of the original Justice League of America segments from the Superman/Aquaman Hour Of Adventure (such as The Atom, The Flash and Green Lantern) before playing Ted Baxter on Mary Tyler Moore from 1970-1977.
