For everyone saying it I don't think its the Forerunners because they went out of their way to save humans when they used HALO, so why would they suddenly start killing the humans. The only thing that could make sense is that its the remaining covenant wither led by a different prophet or maybe the Brutes took control or maybe its just a whole new species entirely because we don't even know when the game starts it might be like 100 years after Halo 3 for all we know.

@LandauTST Do you understand the saying "To each their own."? Well I guess the artwork and style + atmosphere is very addictive for a large number of people. The Halo universe has a certain feeling to it that is definitely attractive. Although I've really only beat Halo 1 and Reach, so I can't speak authoritatively on the subject... If they "upgrade" the game play to something more innovative and fun that would be nice. Battlefield 3 or Mass Effect 3 will still win Game of the year! :) .

@EvertonFC95 well think about it, they left us in Halo 3 just hanging at the end with Chief in half a ship, clearly a Halo 4 is necessary. Reach, by the way, was suppose to show us what happened down in Reach before the Pillar of Autumn was attacked in Combat Evolved, the very first game. Look in the cut scene where you stay on Reach to operate the MAC gun and destroy the Covenant ship, the scene shows the inside of the Pillar of Autumn, move right joystick to the right and Chief will be there.
