  • @ehbabbeh I'm guessing that these are 15kg plates, or about 33 pounds. That coupled with a a 20 kg bar makes 50 kg. Or very near the 123 lbs stated in the beginning of the video. I've been a fan for a while.

  • @SpecOps1987 Olympic power lifting, gyms with olympic platform, gyms that have crossfit room, etc etc. Those are olympic plates, the only difference is the weight. The sizes are similar.

  • @roquey44 She is using very little quad in this movement, mostly glute and hammie.. That and if you had a different view I would venture to say that she kept her knees in line with her toes... just like you said, she didn't come close to a knee injury.

  • That is really good, but she won't be doing much more weight than what she is doing for reps in this lifetime.  She is already maxing out. She compromises her form only a few reps into the workout.

  • This exercise never made any sense to me. You can't do as much weight as a squat, so you aren't working your legs and butt as much. It strains your back and shoulders and you lock out your arms - all negatives. Why do it this way? Why not do normal squats and if you want to work arms and shoulders do military press?

  • Actually, it is far safer than using most shoes.

    Weightlifting shoes are good for performance but have the problem that you will bend forward with your knees leading to long term knee problems if you are unlucky.

    Normal running or training shoes are padded and provide no real stable base for doing squats or other lifts. They do not allow useful patterns to form.

    Flat shoes or barefoot training are optimal to develop perfectly natural movements patterns.

    Dont drop the bar on your foot ;)

  • I disagree that oly shoes will lead to knee problems. They overcome ankle flexibility issues allowing you to get into a lower position, but that does not impact your knees unless you come forward due to bad form, which would happen with no shoes as well.

  • @smoku46: No idea why you got a thumbs down. It's a verifiable fact that strength does not scale linearly with bodyweight. So, the lighter you are, in general, the easier it is to lift scalar multiples of your bodyweight.
