  • I just ordered all three albums...now the waiting begins.

  • you guys are all full of shit.

  • @connorwood83 Not shit, cheese.

  • mccarthy had to be the most underated band of the eighties and nineties there cds i am a wallet and the enraged will inherit the earth are classics

  • If only McCarthy had been members of the Senate instead of Joseph McCarthy, the world would have been a better place.

  • i do remember it from 120 minutes this brilliant show

of mtv in those days...jungle pop best!

  • I'm so glad I never heard of this rubbish before I discovered Stereolab, otherwise I would have written off the greatest band of the 1990's before I'd heard any of their music. Likewise with Joy Division, who I would never have bothered with if I'd known they had any link to a certain purveyor of crappy 80's disco music (although New Order did some great stuff in their early years, I later discovered).

  • you're an idiot @MrGutley

  • @MrGutley new order are better than joy division. a tory less never hurts anyone!

  • my dad was his malcolm edens best mate in primary school :)

id never heard of the band before he told me though..

  • Love it, absolutely love it

  • Brilliant tune from a great band...discovered them through a cover the Manic Street Preachers used to do of 'We are all bourgeois now'....

  • Superb. A woefully under-appreciated and under-exposed band. One thing, though. Is this slow or has the version on 'Enraged' been sped up?

  • Great song, paving the way for genius to come.

  • great song

  • Why this 1989 album "Enraged will .."is not sold anywhere?it's not bad album at all, allthough they say it's their worst because of drummachine etc.,there are brilliant songs on album (including this one),and "An Address To The Better Off" and "What Our Boys Are Fighting For?"

  • Proud owner of a 12" copy of this, along with a fully functional turntable. It's had a spin out in the last month or tow, as has 'I Am A Wallet'.

  • One of my biggest record shop regrets (and I've had a few!) I was in Rough Trade, Covent Garden around 1991. There was a bootleg live video of McCarthy on sale. I didn't have the cash on me at the time, so let it go thinking there would be plenty of opportunities to get it again. Unfortunately, next time I was there it was very much no longer available. Some person or persons out there, somewhere, have got a copy. Please, please, please upload this. This band was far too good to go unrecognised.

  • McCarthy were better than Stereolab

  • no way!

  • @mercuriopiccoli come on, old bean...

  • @mercuriopiccoli not sure...

  • Does anybody know what the chords for this are?

  • McCarthy make me feel joyous.

Tim Gane has very nice hair, I must say. I am awfully jealous.

  • When did McCarthy become hip? Me and friend put this group on at the Jericho Tavern, Oxford, in 1989. They certainly weren't hip only about 40 people came - though they were brilliant. I definitely remember seeing a video for 'Should the Bible be Banned?'.

  • Wait a minute, you are the same person who commented months ago that this was trash!!...??

Glad to see you made it back, for some inexplicable reason!

  • fantastic video now put up the well of loneliness please, that is the other mccarthy video. :)

  • oh the memories. may 21st 1988. still have the poster for that gig on my wall.

  • Thanks for this video. Are thre any other McCarthy videos?

  • ¡MUCHAS GRACIAS!

  • Nathan0000 is an intellectual colussus (ok, colostomy bag). Cheers for putting this one up; does any one know the chords to thsi?

  • nathan37354 obviously is not musically inclined, has not done historical research on who this band is and has no clue as what indie is or will be or why bands who have staying power are considered important and why some bands don't make it or gain the respect or cult status that this awsome band has, you either have or you don't nathan does not know so please forgive him everybody

  • I think we should encourage Nathan as he expresses thoughts just like a big boy.

Happy 10th Birthday, little guy--someday you are going to be a real SUPERHERO!!!

  • Nathan, you are a fucking idiot. Anyone else know if McCarthy made any other vids???

  • No idea there was a video to this. My fav favest McC. song.

This morning looked at my old LP and with no way to play it. So I looked on here and here it is [yay!!]

  • ............

  • got to love the bowl cut of the late 80s indie scene. now this is music!

  • What a treat! McCarthy were fantastic. Thanks for posting this gem!

  • awesome!!

  • He estado buscando cosas de McCarthy y no habia encontrado nada. Esto es lo primero que escucho. Gracias por subirlo!

  • McCarthy are the best band nobody's heard of (well except the manics). Unreal. Thanks for the upload. Got any others you can put up?

  • Quel plaisir de voir une vidéo de Mc Carthy sur You Tube après toutes ces années.

Si certains d'entre vous ont d'autres perles de Tim Gane a partagé, je suis preneur.

  • We happy few...thanks to wracket for posting this little piece of joy.

  • Thanks. My copy of this is truncated and lo-fi (thanks, Transmission). Great band and good people. A rare combination.

  • ahhhh!wot memories....stoke newington & camden 1990.

  • Sorry, you've got a good point there ;) Personally, just for me, this song strongly reminds me of the first time I listened to the first few Stereolab singles. Particularly the way the lines are delivered. Isn't Laetitia doing some backing vocals on this somewhere? My imagination?

Anyway cheers for uploading something ace!

  • Brilliant, classic pop tune. Their most Stereolab-like moment too. Happiness.

  • Even moreso than Banking, Violence and The Inner Life Today? At times that almost sounds like it could be a Stereolab album...even has Laetitia on guest vocals for a few songs!

  • @abikyogra Not really, listen to Jeane by the Smiths...

  • Gosh, I so love McCarthy. No clue they had any vids...

  • P U high whiney no range talentless waste

  • I still have all their LP...great noisy pop band of the 80's...Heard them for the 1st time in 1986 on the NME compilation...

  • McCarthy were amazing. Hugely underrated. Would love to see more of their stuff up here.

  • Great band, great lyrics. Thousand thanks.

  • thankyou, thankyou, thankyou so much for posting this, glad to see one of the greatest leftist bands of all time finally get posted on utube, now if we can only see well of loneliness we will be eternally greatful, best wishes :)

  • thank you for putting this up! i had it years and years ago but have lost it since.
