@TheJacobiphone12405 My Acer Aspire One netbook (from 2008) plays it perfectly. So I think you'd be good. Sorry for replying to a month-old comment but I didn't know if you'd gotten an answer.
How did you manage to get a 1.6Ghz processor? When I ordered mine, the biggest processor option available on the customize list was an Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-430UM (1.20GHz,3MB) + 512MB ATI Mobility Radeon(TM) HD 5450 switchable graphics. If I could get a faster processor, like an i7, I would definately go for it. Got any recommendations about what I can do to get an upgrade? I didn't understand why hp only allowed no higher than the processor I got.
should i get the i5 430UM processor with turbo boost or i5 430UM processor with ATI Radeon Mobility 3D 5450 for $100 more? i want to use this laptop mainly for college and some mid games like Starcraft/Lineage2 but i want to know if i can play WoW or Starcraft 2 with the i5 430UM processor with turbo boost without lagging soo much. and my major would be dentistry. i dont want my computer to lag soo much

@Th3EndOfDay5 I agree. The touch sensitive screen on the Ipad is difficult
to use and cumbersome. An Ipad is really more of a one trick pony. You cant
do word processing or spreadsheets like this HP. If you only look at pictures and internet videos all day then the Ipad is for you. If your IQ is above 95 then you want a laptop /touch screen hybrid like HP tm2

1 is the touchscreen hard, like an apple products, or more.."quishy" like a touchscreen phone or something?
2 does the generic, regular tm2 come with a fingerprint reader? Also, does the finger print literally allow you to lock and unlock your compiter with your fingerprint??
Hey, thank you for this review. Is it possible to make a short video of using HP Touchsmart TM2 outdoors? Some people out there says it is absolutely useless when trying to operate outdoors (because of the glossy screen). I am considering buying one but it would mean great deal to me if I could not use it on my travels in bus, trains, in park...

Men, that's Amazing!!! I've compared a LOT of tablet options, and the best in the relation price / performance it's the Tm2t, maybe the only bad thing it's the low-power processor, a i3 configuration could be more powerfull.
I got a question: when you use the pen, you can write normally resting your hand in the tablet without activating the touch actions?
The tm2 at least with a 1.6 GHz CPU might surprise you in ten, of performance. For most tasks it flies.
Yes there is palm rejection technology but it only works when the pen is in close proximity to the screen.
I use a little utility called TouchControl that runs in the task tray and I use it to turn off the touch digitizer when I'm using the pen for extended periods of time. Just double tap it to toggle touch. Works well.
@heatlesssun ¡ bougth a new TM2t tablet PC, unfortunaly without the ATI dedicated graphics. Rigth now I am interested in the toochcontrol software. I been searching un google but I can't find it. Can you tell me the website were you downloaded?
@deathlyscorpio The processor actually is equivalent to some older models of Core Duo and Core 2 Duo running at ~2.3 Ghz. Overall performance is much, much better than the previous models. It even runs Crysis at ~30 fps. Very powerful machine.
@deathlyscorpio This machine's 1.6 ghz CPU actually compares to many older Core Duo and Core 2 Duo processors at ~2.3 ghz. Overall performance is much better than previous models. It even runs Crysis at reasonable graphics and very good framerate - ~30 fps.
That's great! I'm trying to change my "old" Inspiron 1420 laptop which has a Core 2 Duo T5250 processor of 1.5Ghz, if you say so, i think that this machine will have a very long life, I can't wait to buy one!!
@deathlyscorpio I don't know if you've bought yet, but the i3 refresh of this device will be hitting the streets absolutely any day now. Already up for preorder on Amazon. I'd be in line but I want a config with the ATI card. Love this machine.
Sorry, I should rephrase that. You mentioned that the screen doesn't allow you to write directly on OneNote, but can write to text? I've also seen that the tm2 comes with OneNote2010 beta, but I'd prefer to stick with 2007.
OneNote 2007 will work just fine on the tm2, there are plenty of other tm2 owners that are running OneNote 2007 just fine.
What I think you may have misunderstood is the lack of true digital ink support in the OTHER Office applications. OneNote's ink support has always been first class and that continues is OneNote 2010.
I think what he was trying to say is that some programs aren't ink enabled, like OneNote is. . . Any version of onenote works with your pen perfectly on this tablet. The touchscreen/ digitiser is made by Wacom (like most other tablet PCs).
Actually when inking extensively there is a little utility that I keep running in my task tray that allows me to enable and disable touch input.
When writing for extended periods of time I find it convenient to disable touch input as your hand can confuse Windows.
Its not a big deal as when you've using the pen you don't really need or want touch anyway, after all you are using the pen. Then when you want to go back to touch input you just re-enable it.
Thanks. Just a quick question: do you think a 12'' Tablet PC works well as the main laptop for a grad student? I need a new laptop after my old one died, and I'm not sure if I should buy an all-purpose 14'' or this one.
I think that the tm2 has plenty of power for 95% of computer users. Of course I don't know everything your trying to do with your machine but for things like Microsoft office, light video and image editing, HD content playback, even lighter gaming needs.
Unless you have some heavy performance requirements you'll be fine with even the base model but I DEFINITELY recommend getting the HD 4550 dedicated GPU.
dude you are my hero as far as reviews go! You have helped me so much especially with showing me that Cod Mod 2 runs reasonably smooth. Though do you know is it possible to replace it with something a little better?
Thanks this video helped a lot, I haven't purchased the TM2 yet but I plan on getting one in the next weeks to come. My question is what specs would be best for this Notebook? The Best Processor, Memory, both or what?
There are lots of options. If you can afford it definitely go for the HD 4550 GPU upgrade. After that you can get the 1.6 GHz SU9600 CPU but that's a $200 upgrade.
You can go from 4 to 8 GB of RAM. 8 is overkill for almost anyone. 4 GB is probably the sweet spot.

How many fingers does the screen support? Is it real multitouch, like the Galaxy S and Tab has or is it just dual touch? Like HTC Desire and so on.

My tm2 is the original that has a Core 2 Duo. The i5-430 is actually a little faster than the 1.6Ghz Core 2 Duo SU9600.

@xspidermanxvudoo If you want to play games, take the HD5450.
Ow yeah, both the processors (with and without dedicated gpu) have turbo boost (same cpu)
The difference with the i5 and i3 is only the turbo boost, for the rest, it's exactly the same.
(owyeah, here in the netherlands, we can't choose the model, we only have one version here :( )
