@animebsd Check surplus stores or junkyards, you may just come across something like it. A regenerative blower would function similarly, and those are still available new. They're not as cool though, they're only one stage.
I wish vacuums would be equipped with induction motors rather than universal ones. The reason univs are used is the very high speed that enables much smaller and lighter motor and fan designs for the same wattage. Though the suction wattage is usually a tiny percentage of what the motor draws in from the mains. All else just goes to heat up the motor and the air that comes out. That's the sad part of the story.
I would love induction motor vacuum cleaners too. Too bad we don't have 400Hz power so they could run faster. This huge Ametek blower is nowhere near powerful enough for a good vacuum.
Dyson does make a vacuum with a brushless switched-reluctance motor for sale in Japan, to make the most of the 100V power available there. I don't think it's available in North America, though.
I think it just needs a better designed blade / turbine system for a lower RPM to have the right power. These have 10 blades / fins per disk, plus each stage has 6 stationary fins. These are very low numbers. Engine turbines used to have blades up to about 24-48 per disk or even more.
Also, dust bag for a lower RPM one is a no go, since it has high flow resistance, cyclones can be used instead. Or just an outlet hose opening outside, is how i would construct one. But, high RPM reluctance / sync motors with rare earth magnets sound nice also.
That would make a good shop vac.

Those double aluminium plates can be found in vacuum cleaners too

That big motor looks like whats used in a central vacuum unit. The ones where you just connect the hose to a wall outlet.

@tesla500 i need one thats got power like a vacuum
deos this one?
how quite?
and how good is the suction
animebsd 1 year ago
@animebsd This one is much less powerful than a vacuum motor actually. I believe a regenerative blower could be as powerful as a vacuum motor.
The Ametek blower is quiet, much less noise than a vaccum, but has much less suction too.

Did u find out what the blower was used in?

@richardc1983 Never found out what it was from, unfortunately.

Can i have the Ametek Multi stage Fan?
ScottieNiven 1 year ago
The ametek blower looks like a hard drive when you have the covers off and the blades on.
Have you tried putting a vacuum gauge on it and seeing how much of a vacuum it can pull (maybe that was its' use?)

Nice. I will be making a video of my new Lakewood 2330. it will be listed as "Powerful vintage fan." Watch it.

perhaps it was a whole-house vacuum?

This one seems to be 2 poles.

You're correct, the Ametek is two-pole.
