Mikey you need to hold your yarn between the ring finger and around to between the middle and fore finger so that your left hand won't cramp. Also hold your hook like an instrument like a pencil. That will reduce pain in the fingers. I've crocheted things from blankets to granny squares since the 80s. I hope that helps. I also enjoy this series of videos on ripple stitch crochet. I Have completed some of my new winter hat... I am making up the rules as I go... I have started with the peice that is by the forehead area... once I get a little higher up (to the top of the head... I am going to try a few things has it needs to round off properly.
I really like the ripple stitch! It actually came pretty fast to me after watching this. It may take a couple times of watching just to get good practice, but I like how you teach! Keep up the good work! :)
hey that's wonderful... I had trouble doing this stitch in video.. I had to do 3 separate video takes because the first two attempts of all the lines just wasn't cutting it.
