  • Wow! Another of Nature's wonders! We have those here too in Northern California and I have to stop and watch when I see them gather and do their amazing aeronautical ballet. A murmuration of Starlings!

  • THANK YOU GOD.

  • @HailBritannia1740 oh yeah, give no credit to the soulless bird, right?

  • thumbs up if you think they should have pooped on the camera man

  • фантастично!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Wow! Very amazing! Thanks for sharing it :)

  • Every year, my youngest son and I used to wait for these great migrations over Atlanta, GA, and it was a magnificent display of Creation. I will never forget my baby boy's wonder and curiosity when he saw these birds overhead or in the distance.

  • WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • While waiting ata red light, I've often thought "We should do this". When lit turns red, if everyone started to move, it would look like this. Instead we wait until we see car in front moving first. But we have to trust that car in front will move too. It would be like a train, instead of one at a time. But, this takes practice. These creatures have had a LONG time to get it right, and do.

  • We have the intelligence for this behavior, but it takes practice, ion this case thousands of years, plus some evolution, and survival of those individuals that can manage it. It's not unique, and many herding animals do it, including mammals like antelope, other birds, insects, and mainly, schooling fish. It is a form of intelligence, in the sense that certain rules are followed. It can be modeled on a computer (boid model). But it is a "collective intelligence". Following orders

  • Awesome. You know whats embarrassing though? Us humans claim to be so intelligent, and yet we bump and crash into each other every single day. Those birds on the other hand.....simply amazing.

  • wow... im speechless!

  • Awesome

  • I'm almost speechless. I just seen a video that had certain types of fish doing this under water. Glory to our heavenly father.

  • simply stunning!

  • For me, this is essence of life, wonder and beauty in it's purest form. Thank you for sharing.

  • this is what happens when ego is set aside

  • @SKERLOK Didn't you listen? They have very egoistic motives for that very behaviour.

  • @SKERLOK It's not ego, or lack. In fact, "ego" has a lot to do with it. Notice he says, "dominant males are setting up roost" Also, there is competition to remain in the center. But they do follow rules of "boid". Otherwise, they'd lose many individuals. Something that I'm sure happened before they got it right. But those individuals that couldn't keep up, well, died. this is evolution in action. they are not doing it to be creative, but to survive.

  • @unabnats the ego is set aside in the flight, i was not refering to before or after, ego requires thought, if the birds had to think while doing that they would falter. People take credit for the genius that is in them, but the genius is that which is beyond the ego, the ego is that which lays claim to the genius

  • Bye Bye Birdy

  • God's creative hand is amazing!

  • This is a very common sight here in Arkansas, USA every year. They cover the yard like a thick black blanket. The sky is full of black clouds and streams of black birds! I had never seen it until I moved to this area.

  • wow...just...wow.....

  • Sometime in the next 24 hours the universe is going to show off just for you. It could be something spectacular or something as simple as your everyday coffee tasting especially rich this morning. Take a moment to appreciate the gift, the universe likes to know you’re paying attention; in fact may seem to gift you more often. Enjoy your day(s). Peace! Thanks for sharing, Dylan.

  • Their all excited for MW3! :D

  • This is wonderful to see.

But the 'explanations' as to what this is about or what for offered by the narrator are the usual Darwinian nonsense that dont explain this at all.

  • @david8157 Yes, it actually does. Individual beings with individual yet identical MOs create a seemingly single entity. And that doesn't at all have to detract from the fascination. Science and beauty are not incompatible, and it'd be great if more people realize that.

  • @banyah87 So you really think this behaviour is about staying warm? or something to do with predators?

  • @david8157 Yes. And I, too, think it's wonderful just like you do. It's called collective animal behavior, and it's present in other species, like fish and bugs. It's silly to label it "usual Darwinian nonsense."

  • Hear, let me prove it, deep in your soul your aware you were made and were shaped in Gods mold, but instead of you chasing your maker behold, your ignoring his name but amazed at your own!!!

  • I was searching for videos of Sandpipers and came across this in the search. Amazing. We watched a huge flock of Sandpipers at the beach this weekend that put on this wonderful display of acrobatics and shimmering silver on various turns. These starlings are equally incredible and the masses...

  • Amazing!

  • hyfっhjg

  • 16 people don't like flying

  • Ouf.....

i'm just in awe watching this beautiful video. imagine beeing there in person. ...beautifully done, the birds, the sky,the music....its all there

    bravo

    Eric

    Montreal Canada

  • its like real life matrix when the machines got through xion

  • Lucky, lucky man...I would love to see them in person.

  • Let's stop screwing it all up. Watch those ones in flight and see the heart rise majesticly within you when you feel good seeing life above and amongs you living free and easy. Is that not beauty.

  • It is jaw dropping!!! And I love your choice of music, and the sounds of crashing waves, because it is in harmony with both. I love planet Earth, don't you? Wow!

  • ...things that lift the heart :)))

  • Great!!!must have 50 mio. clics till now. Do the "clouds" also flew into eachother or does it seem only so from the perspective .Thanks for who could answer:-))

  • This is Truly amazing

  • One of the countless amazing wonders of our world. Thanks for sharing this :)

  • What an amazing video! Thank you! Love, April and Jacque

  • this is a flawless video with amazing upside downside and insight

  • they fly for hours together without a collision.. humans should learn from this

  • @Not2commonofcaurse Just because starlings don't explode in flames and rain down on the Earth in a catastrophic collision, doesn't mean they don't hit one another. I've seen birds collide, and fail to put "wheels down" on landings.

Peace to all who (and what) fly

  • @hazeleyes1911a1 I bet you that their flying record is much more amayzing than humans even still by far and what you experienced is unusual n i bet they lived to fly again unlike many humans who have suffered the sad fate of a crash landing... yes peace to all flyers whatever the species may be ~o~o~

  • @Not2commonofcaurse lol let's put some Chinese starlings in there and see what happens.

  • @natetheingrate that's rich love the thought... or how about san francisco starlings who just drank up all the spilled koolaid at a hippie reunion in the haight

  • Amazing!!!! It's a birdie flash mob :)

  • excellent piece of filming!!

  • What an incredible sight! Thanks for shaing this amazing video!

  • the cognitive abilities necessary for flocking is something a human brain just does not have - thats why it looks so unbelievable to us.

thank you for sharing that wonderful display of natures versatility. i cant stop watching it over and over again :)

  • I am speechless, thank you for sharing!

  • Wow! Just... WOW!! That is the single most incredible footage of starlings murmurating that i have EVER had the privilege of seeing! Simply stunning... (:o)

  • @klistarf yay!! Somebody actually called it by name! Murmuration!

  • I wonder if this is what inspired Alfred Hitchcock to write Birds!

  • No words for this... Only Praise be to Allaah for His wonderfull creation!

  • Now THAT is what I call a "superoganism"

  • here's where it is pointless to wash your car

  • Starlings are nature's assholes, a few well placed shotgun blasts are needed there.

  • That's so amazing.

  • simply fantastic!

  • i don't understand one human who dosn't like this!

  • Excellent production, my friend. Both video and narration are superb !!

  • everytime i see birds doing this i just can stop and staring at it... amazing.

  • God is real and Great!

  • @Mrkanela What's god have to do with this?

  • @Mrkanela You don't need God to do this. We can program robots to do the same thing.

  • @cbernier3 Really....I would like to see your robots doing that.

  • @cbernier3 Swarming robots cost $14 each, and you need thousands of them. I can't afford it. The point is that it isn't that hard.

  • Much more spectacular and bigger starling flocks on Spiller's new videoclip, search for "Spiller Pigeonamn's Revenge", cheers!

  • This is what wind would look like if you could see it.

  • Amazing!

  • Watching this can be addictive.

  • I fucked six of those birds. Yupp i did

  • absolutely gorgeous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This is the result of the big bang?

  • As beautiful as it is, also know that these pests will decimate thousands of crops. They're rats with wings.

  • WOW - and dont you just love this, i am mesmerised watching it and love the accompanying music. The commentary is so informative didnt know about Lewis Carroll and the inspiration he got for his book from here. Keep it going love to see some more

  • SHINO

  • I love english people for that reason, they explain everything :D

  • creation surely gives glory to our Creator, Jehovah God.. great video

  • @tanyaahogan false.

  • @tanyaahogan Really really not.

  • These birds are really mean to Canadian and American birds. Don't introduce foreign species into your country.

  • No more scientific bla-bla-bla anymore! These birds dance their unified dance because.... they love to do it. For fun!!! For celebrating life. (Are we dancing for a position in a group?? Rediculous)

  • Fabulous x

  • I just...I'm agog. I don't know how it's POSSIBLE for that screensaver-like, shifting cloud to be a FLOCK OF LIVE BIRDS. My mind is blown to teeny specks. :)

  • Wow! You are so lucky to be able to watch this every night..

  • Dude I would hate to be wearing a cracker suit in this field!!!!! LDL

  • Yup, a youtube comment thread is DEFINITELY the best place to discuss scientific theories.

  • WOW What a fantastic piece! Just got back from Somerset Levels and cannot believe the spectacle! Absolutely left me bside myself! Keep up the good work my friend!!!!

  • "Scientific knowledge is a body of statements of varying degrees of certainty-some most unsure, some nearly sure, but none absolutely certain" - Richard Feynman.

  • Ninety-nine percent of who you are is invisible and untouchable.

    R. Buckminster Fuller

  • More evidence Rupert Sheldrake's idea of "Morphogenetic fields" is correct.

  • Damn nature, you AWESOME!

  • Starlings should never been introduced in the US. They agressive birds pushing out our native Red Breasted Robins. Some idiot - who knew more than natural evolution - introduced a flock of 60 in california because they were mentioned by W. Shakespear. He appeartly thought that was enough.

  • @jtflyer Well, people do things like that. I LIKE starlings. I think they're beautiful. We get Robins, too.

  • @PatGoltz Well, isn't that special. I'll bet you like Polar Bears too! Let's just whip that up for you. Anything else?

  • @jtflyer Not a chance. They wouldn't survive here. Too hot. I don't know how they do it with the polar bear in the zoo, to tell the truth.

  • Oh, this was just spectacular! Thank you so much for capturing this for all of us to see! Incredible.

  • this is gay......

  • this is gay...

  • Thank you for sharing this unbelievably beautiful sight.

  • That is pretty cool. However, I would still like to bring a 12 gauge out there and start blasting away with some OO Buck Shot, just for the fun of it!

  • Fanrastic. I have seen this one time, but sorry, withouy camera

  • The creature glorifying the Creator, ''who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will''.

  • Beauty in Motion, Although I wouldn't want to be standing under them

  • En el minuto 3:45 forman la figura de un leon..

  • Thank you or a beautiful example of nature.....I watch this film every time I feel depressed and it lifts my spirits.

  • I was actually inspired to look it up after reading "8 Terrifying Swarms Created by Human Stupidity" on Cracked.com. It's funny to read comments about how they're majestic and graceful. There are actually 200 million of them in North America, they eat everything and bring down airplanes and completely infest whatever area they're in. Kind of a glass half full/glass half empty kind of thing.

  • i just got chills watching this, and it's just youtube. imagine this in real life!

  • They poison these in other countries, mad flookrs thats the dumbest thing......o>o>o> Tweets of the week..!

  • Astonishing, QI just made me search for this!

  • Loved that....brings peace to the soul just watch this...

    Blessed to see it :0)

  • that's pretty darn cool..........how they don't have a collision....in midair...........

would be nice to know what they are ACTUALLY doing..............
