  • What I am thinking about is where Jesus says Depart from me I never new you.

But these people if you keep reading, believed they were Christians?

how can they Not know they were not Christians?

I find this topic hard to understand,I realize this video is a year old. I'm catching up .

  • To know who is Christian or not is determined in 1 John.

  • I feel that the older i get the more i realize that im not the Holy Spirit for only God knows our heart ,mind and soul. When i was young i felt like Henry Ford and the modal t you can have any color you want just as long as its black .Or your a Christian just as long as we agree . Wow no i see theirs more than just on color coming off the assembly line . John in Revelation address the seven churches wow they all had something a matter with them .We must keep our eyes on Christ at any angle

  • Well i to believe in trinty . That creation in gen. or recreation in gen. All three Spirits were their.I believe Jesus Christ died on the cross for our sins, arose the third day . I feel That a real Christian must Believe that Christ is the Son of God.For John 3;16 SAYS WHOSOEVER BELIEVES ON ME . The word believe is more than a one time prayier of forgiveness and he never hears from you again .We our cover by grace but in that grace we love Christ so much we respect him and try not to sin .

  • There are no such a person whom is Christian ! JESUS CHRIST WAS AND IS THE ONLY TRUE CHRISTIAN !!! AMEN!??!!!

  • not all follow the same Christ it depends on the teachings if they are in the bible or heretical lies but really only God knows who's true or not

but my two cents is if one claims God told me to do so and so and it goes against the word then that is false Christ they are following

  • I think you would find it interesting to research where the term "Christian" came from, who it came from, and what sect it defined in the 1st century, who and what it is today and then reason why it has turned into the valuless term it is today. I believe when you do, you will not use that term w/ as broad an application as you do. I also believe that after the research you will have a far different understanding of the "C" word. The the real ? is r u a follower or a member one with the Head?

  • Orginally I posted this question to TruthCeeker, but I decided to watch your video after seeing his and in doing so I wanted to see what you would say also. could you please watch these two videos and give me your thoughts on them. "Hell: an excessive punishment" by QualiaSoup and "The Problem of Hell and a Loving God" by CDK007.

  • 1John 1:8-10 8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us. all have fallen and He who starts a good word in us is faithful to finish it, so how can we say someone who has faith , but stubbles, is not a christian , that is wrong...Love should be the basis <3ya

  • Great vid!! I'd also like to add that belief that Jesus is the ONLY way to Salvation is an important doctrine. I'm a "10 commandment" Christian because they were written in stone with God's own finger and placed in the ark of the covenant (or testimony) seen in heaven in John's revelation. It's about "the light we have". Oneness? Trinity? "Father, Son, Holy Spirit". I don't need a word to express that. God bless....

  • You know I have vascilated on the whole oneness thing. The trinity is so hard so very hard to understand much less put into words. I bet if I asked 10 trinitarians their definition of the trinity I would get 10 different answers!

  • I have floated around many (what I call) "born again" denominations (or "non-denominations" lol) and I agree with you wholeheartedly. When I thought I was "getting it" re: "trinity", someone threw a monkey wrench at me. I gave up. I believe "the Father, Son and Holy Ghost; these three are one" and I have found Peace :-)

The Sabbath is quite a heated debate for many of my brothers and sisters. To the point they believe they can't learn from a "Sunday Worshipper". That frustrates me.

  • My rule of thumb is the thief on the cross. He recognized that he deserved death for what he had done but Jesus did not. He recognized that Jesus would come into His kingdom, which to me says that the thief knew Jesus had been sent by God and that His kingdom would come about regardless of His death. Whether this means he believed in the resurrection or not is unclear to me, but at a basic level he must have believed in Jesus as the Messiah. It was enough for him to be in Paradise.

  • Amen - And he really didn't have much time to do many good works did he?

  • Nope - and from what I remember both thieves reviled Jesus according to Matthew, so he wasn't repentant until some time after he was crucified.

  • He was humble, admitted he screwed up and asked for mercy, because he recognised the Truth. God really likes humble hearts that recognise Him . I see many parallels between a parents love and Gods love for us. What parent with a screwed up kid who came to them with a humble heart, admitting they had screwed up and seeked your forgiveness and help would turn them away? A parents love is agape. They mate hate their kids actions but a good parent love them unconditionally. Oh and discipline them!

  • Reminds me of the prodigal son - it's one of my favorites. The father's so happy to see his son alive that nothing matters but having a feast and celebrating.

  • And no, saying just the words is not enough. Faith without works is dead. Dead means, has no life.

  • Yeah I think you need a heart transplant to keep on living!

  • Sisterean.....I love it!!!

  • I am also a trinitarian and have been a born again Christian for over 30 years now. I agree with you, PG, that groups such as the Mormons and JW;s are not, in fact, Christians for the reasons that you cited. As for the Christian community at large, there are many differences in worship style, clothing, lesser doctrinal beliefs, etc... but as long as they claim Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, they are my brothers and sisters.

  • What about some that are closer to home? Catholic, Eastern Orthodox, Episcopalian and the very liberal protestant demoninations? Do they preach the same Jesus?

  • That is always the question, isn't it? I think it depends on the individual. I was reading the excellent comments my sister, Lara posted to this very question. I have to agree with pretty much everything she states here. I know Catholics, for instance, that fully believe in the shed blood of Jesus for the remission of sins while others seem to dwell more on the works/ritual basis to get them into heaven. Either way, God sees the heart and knows who are His own. Good discussion here, PG.

  • HalleluYAHWEH Our Father.

Gen 26:5 Because that Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws. Many say we have to do this of believe that but most don't see where Abraham came from Abraham came from a people of many gods. Mat 22:37-39.

We better get our hearts right with God because there will not be evil in the new kingdom to come no matter what we believe.

    Brother Phil.

  • Thats a certainty Phil!

  • maybe im naive but aslong as one believes Jesus is the only begotten Son of God and died on that cross willingly to pay for our sins.. as far as im concerned they are a brother or sister until God chooses they are not.. He is the judge and jury thank Goodness !

  • What about groups that add a works righteousness into the mix like say a requirement of baptism for the forgiveness of sins?

  • if your faith is genuine then its going to manifest itself. I think the question is what do others define works? In answer to that i rely on the bible verse that says Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.

  • cont To be honest PG the only issue i get heated up about is when some who claim to be calvinist, state that God has created many who have no hope of salvation just because he didnt pick them. If i am to get heated it is only when others take away hope.

  • In regard to be baptised i grewup in an AOG church and was baptised . i also felt God encourage me to go down to the front for an altar call and went down in the spirit, was the most amazing peaceful warm loving experience and i remember thinking i dont want to wake up let me stay here... Some claim this is demonic but whatever lol, they dont understand so i fail to see the point in getting in to heated discussions with them. Do I think you have to be baptised to have Gods favour, I dont know.

  • I thought Mormons were Christians who just used to follow a false doctrine but don't anymore?

  • What made you change your mind?

  • Pastor George, many of us will be VERY surprised when the Lord separates the sheep from the goats to see those we thought were sheep in the goat's pen, and those we thought were goats in the sheep's pen!!

  • That final day is going to be a very rude awakening to be sure!

  • Does your walk and your speech exhibit your faith?

Do you walk the walk, or just talk a good game?

Scripture says we will know them by their fruits.

  • I agree with everything you said. I would also add that God is merciful and we do not know what lengths he will go to reveal himself to those who do not know him, even after they die.

I tend to disagree with the idea that we only have this life to accept the Lord. I believe that the Lord will give all mankind a fair chance to choose him.

  • I very much disagree with this but would like to hear you expound on the matter.

  • A Christian is a person who has been born again of the Spirit. That is, a person who has reached a point in their life where they say "it is finished, I'm done with my life, I give my life over to G-d." And in surrendering to G-d, they ask Jesus to forgive them and to save them. Their life is forever changed.

That is a real Christian; a person who has been "born again."

    Genesis

  • That surrender part is a HUGE piece. So many want the salvation but not the L-rdship

  • So when you hear some one say that to you how do YOU respond?

As for myself I go directly to the scriptures and make sure they know there is NO other way.

  • ive been a christian for twelve years now, and i think that the blood of jesus is the solutionto evry matter. The scripture says that no man can call jesus the lord except he had recieved the holy spirit of god.

  • Let me pose this to you - I spent some time in prison ministry and heard the claim of salvation from many men who I was pretty sure were not saved. Is just saying the words enough?

  • Continued -

    I'm not God.

  • Wow, tough stuff.

I believe if you dont know Jesus Christ as God came to earth was put to death and rose again then I dont see how someone can be saved.

Being fully man, yet fully God is somewhat complex, and I believe for those who dont get exact details, God does understand them better than we do.

In other words, what I believe, and what God knows is beyond my ability to allow myself to clearly judge someones salvation.

For those who havent been given much, I wonder how much is expected.

  • Early Greek philosophers said the same thing saying that G-d was unknowable (Essotericism) this made its way into the early church and it was considered a heresy.

I hold to the notion that in Genesis G-d relieved much of not all of His nature and what was needed for salvation including the coming messiah.

  • Later on in the evening I wrote the post, I talked with my son about htis some.

I realized that I did not express all I thought on this issue. Sometimes words arent enough and why I believe God knowing our hearts is so much more.

There is asking for forgiveness which is just part of the deal but I didnt put into words.

I am thankful that God knows all of me and not just a little.

It is freightning but peaceful at the same time.

  • "Hereby know we that we dwell in Him, and He in us, because He hath given us of His Spirit."

    1 John 4v13

"The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:"

    Romans 8v16

The LORD knows them that are His.

    Great message George.

  • Good video pastorgeorge..5stars..I'm learning from you

  • Thank you sis its comments like this that keep me teaching and asking some hard questions for us to all talk about.

Imagine discussing theology on a Christian channel - Cool huh?

  • I just got the "huggies" thing. It takes me awhile. :P

  • If the person is new to the Family, but doesn't know as much about Jesus as, say, you, George, then I would welcome them. After all, they still have a lot to learn of Jesus.

If, however they claim to "know it all" and reject the Risen Christ, I would have to say that I would have my doubts about that. That being said, I agree with other posters here, in that only G-d knows.

  • WoW~! That was a great point. The point of salvation is "if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved."

  • Thus Saved before any good works are done. So for those who believe Jesus don't loose people who He Saved these brand new Christians are just as saved from the eternal punishment of sin as those who have been a Christian a while longer. Conclusion... they are my Brothers and Sisters in Christ all who confess Jesus as the Christ and believe in Him.

  • I am glad that salvation does not have an entrance examination.

  • HUGGIES!!

  • Huggies!!!
