  • @sonicsupergod your name is sonic lol

  • @TheYosh96 lol

  • The Desert Zone, a early design for the Tornado II and the Death Egg in a Sonic 1 ad? Weeeeeeird...

  • Cute Tiny Japanese girl with a mobile brick for a portable game console!! Ahh the early nineties!!

  • megadrive plus 1? is that algebra?

  • @manintheryanmask i dunno i think it just means a game with the console.

  • I love seeing these adverts. The Sonic 3 one made me laugh.

  • gotta luv them japs GAMU GEERA

  • @JaniceBattersby japs is a racist term

  • @Jin6107 racist? seems like everything now is racist, even saying hello to a spanish girl is racist. >.>

  • I always loved that SEEEEEGAAAAAAAA!!!

  • Thanks for uploading, I always love seeing these old commercials :)

  • seeeeeeeegaaaaaaaahhh

  • Game gear was the first portable wis radio fm and Tv...

    beter the a gameboy

  • WTF That things HUGE!

  • Believe it or not that was portable back then

  • If the game gear is huge, then that must mean the Atari Lynx is a mammoth compared to the game gear.

I've still got my game gear, heheh.

  • If you think that was big you should have seen the Nomad. And sheesh did the GG eat up batteries! If i remember it was 6 battertes every 8 hours or something.

  • Actually, It was 6 batteries every 4-5 hours. maybe less. It was cheaper to go to the arcade and play real games.

  • i want a sega gamegear.

  • just get sonic mega collection.

  • this is my first game on game gear. game gear was my first console ever since i got envy when my classmate brought it to school. and i won't exchange a single game gear to a thousand PSP's.

  • Ahh man this commercial brings back memories of me and my brothers playing Sonic The Hedgehog on the Sega Genesis that and Eternal Champion. It's funny because my brother could'nt pronounce Champion so he alway's said hey Trent wanna play "Eternal Trampoline" my uncle tut reminded me of that recently.

  • The Tuner will still work after the DTV conversion, Analog isn't going to go completely away it will be reduced to a very low frequency and you just have to be within 8 to 10 miles raidus of your local stations broadcast. Now you are are lucky to be around a local broadcast station within that range then you will pick that station up, but that's about it.

  • Oh really? I live near the Channel 3 tower (seriously, its at the edge of my neighborhood).

I should pick up an old antenna and see if my TV can pick up the signal. We have cable so naturally we never got a conversion box for our 4 year old TV's.

Thing is, I have heard that "short range" broadcast may still not be done in some areas: me being in Memphis means a good chance that it will NOT be broadcasting at all, but who knows. :D

  • WOuld be funny if sonic grew a moustache like mario, he would be segas mario haha

  • handhels in the 90s was expensive!!! damn i remember saving all my money for bateries cause that game gear was a beast battery eater!!! but i loved it!

  • 'It will give you happy feeling-uh!'

  • lol @ your chinpokomon reference. XD

  • where the hell did sonic get a spacceship

  • well, since the internet wasn't broad around 1991, it is impossible to use the "Timmy Turner defense" and say that he got it from the internet, so i guess he probably got it from an ultra classy mail order catalog

  • @figment1988 Actually, AOL for the Macintosh came out in 1991 if I remember correctly.

  • @figment1988 He got it from SkyMall

  • I don't know, but I'm amazed because it looks just like Tails' Tornado 2 battle mech from SA2, but this is from 1991.

  • @SonicRULESSSSSSSSSSS

    Tails built it.

  • @zerosvc2 This was 1991 not 1992 Sonic didn't know Tails.

  • @SonicRULESSSSSSSSSSS From Robotnik. I mean, he's fast as sound, but not as fast as light.

  • @SonicRULESSSSSSSSSSS probably Tails built one

  • @Sonicfan3841 Impossible, Sonic didn't know Tails until Sonic 2 which came out 1992, not 1991.

  • @streakization *facepalm*

  • yeah, you just saw a death star with a mustache!!!! hahaha, LOL

  • Um did i just see a death star with a mustache

  • yeah. and this probably must have been the first time viewers were introduced to what would be as "The Death Egg" which would appear on sonic 2

  • wonder if the japanese woman feels like a fool now lol

  • no, they still consider clothes like that to be perfectly acceptable :)

  • Eggman Deathstar at :22 LOL

  • @canyoufeelmylovebuz Foreshadowing the Death Egg, maybe?

  • Reminds me of the psp lmao! Bc the psp is long like that!

  • I remember that gamegear tv tuner, it was expensive as hell

  • it was also a burden on the batteries as well.

  • haha i'm not surprised! my parents hated my gamegear, they used to get so mad when i'd ask for 6 batteries every other day, it didn't help that you couldn't mix battery brands, not to mention our battery charger didn't charge them worth shit.. it eventually got to the point where they bought me an AC adapter and said i could only play it off that.

  • Plus, I can't imagine how horrible TV quality would look on an 8-bit handheld.

  • and now with the digital transition happening in June, the tuner's going to be useless (this will also happen to the tv tuner for the NEC Turbo Express)

  • so if the tv tuners going to be useless, then people would expect to see alot of em in goodwill, swap meets, flea markets, ect? i always wanted the tv tuner but its rare to find but since its useless its easy to find?

  • it all depends, since they mostly appear at most flea markets which have used game booths. as for the "useless" thing, i forgot that they had a/v inputs which can be used to plug in console systems (i.e. famiclones), so that's a goof in my favor which also applies with portable TVs with the A/V setups

  • ya a/v inputs is ftw. well i just hope i find one some where in june or earlier..ty for the info :)

  • @Jp4rk i got mine for 10GBP from eBay.

  • Hey i still have one of these and a gameboy.

  • i have 2 game gears and one of them was free after a store that i often went to asked me to check out why it was partially working (turns out that it only worked with an adaptor and the main speaker was busted). as for the gameboy, i have both the original GB (a.k.a. The Brick), and a GBC

  • "seeeeegaaaaa" ownz

  • i've said it before, I'm going to say it again, Japanese people are fucking WEIRD!

  • true. especially with ads that they released such as the one for Chu Chu Rocket.

  • They make American commercials look boring...

  • Sega game gear is awesome im gonna get one if it kills me

  • Such a amazing thing..Sega Game Gear R.I.P

one of the best things ever.

The games like SOnic, Batman and so on were awsome

  • the first game i played on the game gear was Sonic 2 (which was infamous for the first zone's boss)

  • Yeah that was one of my first games, too. Also GReat was Ecco The Delphin haha, never thought a game with a DOLPHIN would make such much fun

  • i had ecco for the genesis. and for a game featuring a dolphin, it was interesting and fun, until they made Endless Ocean for the wii

  • haha yeah. oh man old times =)

  • wait wtf? eatsaktimus? shes gonna eat it?

  • The Genesis is worth owning =/

I own the Dreamcast and a lot of accesoires, i like how i can just download games and burn 'em and it just works with no chip. DC-SCENE rules! =D

  • and it's not just the dreamcast which has this, the psp and the ds have emulators as well, which is one reason i'm contemplating to buy the psp (that would be after i buy super smash bros. brawl)

  • hahahahahahahahahahaha

You know i still have the old sega :)

  • i have my saturn, the only sega worth ownin anymore besides the dreamcast... sortof

  • yea lol at the beginning

  • this one had bad music

  • the commercial?
