I personally prefer Near myself ( Mainly i just think he looks cooler) I would'nt say that Near was an inferior character just because he found all that L found. (He would have to since Watari deleted all the data on the Kira case before he died, at least i think he did i haven't watched Death Note in a while) If anything finding all the clues and evidence L found is a testiment that he was just as good, if not better, than L.
